21.01.2022 Missing child found on rural property Collie A child has been reunited with his parents after going missing on a rural property in the state’s Orana region. A...bout 9.55am today (Friday 30 October 2020), emergency services responded to reports of a three-year-old boy missing at a property 15km west of the Collie township, on the Oxley Highway. Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District coordinated a multi-agency response which included the Rescue Squad, trail bikes, PolAir, Dog Unit and divers being deployed from Sydney. Police were assisted by the State Emergency Service, NSW Ambulance and Rural Fire Service. About 11.15am prior to the arrival of specialist police resources local police located the boy safe and well about 500m from the homestead. The boy has been reunited with his relieved parents. Orana Mid Western Police District Crime Manager, Chief Inspector Denise Godden, praised the response of police and fellow emergency services. We had a great result which has made our day, it doesn’t get much better than this, she said.

09.01.2022 Combine Header Damaged at Armatree Orana Mid-Western Police District Police from Gilgandra are investigating the malicious damage of a New Holland CR9.90 Comb...ine Header on a property on the Armatree Road, Armatree between the 24th and 31st of October this year. Police believe the header’s motor was deliberately targeted by persons unknown, causing extensive mechanical damage. 03.01.2022 The Gilgandra SES Unit was activated for a road crash yesterday, not confirmed that anyone was actually trapped. So why call us then? Police and ambulance act...ivate us to such calls as there is so much we can do at such scenes apart from specific rescue operations. It might include scene lighting at night, assisting police and Council with traffic control, assisting with patient handling, setting up emergency helicopter landing zones and assisting paramedics move the patient to the ambulance i.e. up a steep or slippery embankment. There is often a great deal to do. SES volunteers - building community resilience
