23.01.2022 It's that time of the year, but it doesn;t seem like it. Tonight a group of our bandsmen went to Myer Pacific Fair and spread the message of Christmas. This was ou first Christmas engagement. We don't really know what the future holds for this Christmas. March - Christmas Joy.

20.01.2022 In our series of bandmasters, some have been "re-treaded", Barry Nancarrow being one of those. Barry was the bandmaster prior to he & Pam leaving for training college. Just after their retirement back to GCT Barry took up the bandmaster role again.

20.01.2022 This morning, following our meeting, a group from Gold Coast Temple Band visited & played to one of our bandsman. Howard has not been enjoying good health recently, and given the Covid situation, we have been unable to catch up with he and Val. It was great to share some music, a cuppa, and some valuable conversation. There is a wonderful bond which you experience from being part of a Salvation Army band. Thanks to Robyn Earnshaw for these photos.

20.01.2022 Tonight a majority of the band met to have our first band practice in 5 months. It was great to be able to spend some time sharing about "the break". We played some music, but most importantly, we were back together and able to share some time as a group. Unfortunately there are a few who have health issues and immunity difficulties, so it was unfortunate that they could not be present, but they were not forgotten. We look forward to the time when all our band is together and not so spread apart on our platform.

20.01.2022 Last week I posted about ANZAC DAY with an idea to play the last post & revile on you driveway. Kevin Holland is planning to do this. He would like to encourage others. Here is the message he sent out. If you need music, contact Rodney. From Kevin; This is the note I put in all the letterboxes in the street: Hello neighbour,... My name is Kevin and I live at 22. In honour of our defence force personnel, and in keeping with the wishes of the RSL, I will be playing the Last Post, Rouse, and National Anthem at 6.00 am on ANZAC Day. Please join me by standing in your driveway to participate in this act of commemoration. Yours sincerely, Kevin.

19.01.2022 This is another of our videos prepared earlier for the meeting which did not eventuate. Please take time to "Be still & know".

17.01.2022 Some weeks ago, when we thought there may be some problems with Covid 19 and possible restrictions, the band decided to video the band's contribution to the next week's meeting, just in case it was needed. As we now know, the meeting never eventuated because the restriction were in place and we were unable to meet for worship. The music is not perfect, but it was meant to be part of our worship, and we did not have the opportunity to share it. So as raw as it may be, I want to present it to you, that you may use it for your own time of reflection and praise. Thanks to Rebecca Southall for video & editing.

17.01.2022 Following our series, B/m Jonathan McCorriston was next to follow on in this role. Jonathan had been our Bass Trom player for more than 20 years previously.

15.01.2022 Snapshots of ANZAC day commemorations prior to 2020. We will commemorate ANZAC Day 2020 in a very different way - individually. Thank you to the many photographers who have captured these moments and memories

14.01.2022 G'day to all our bandsmen/women. I hope you and your families are surviving the isolation well, and not going stir crazy. Hopefully we are getting close to a time when we can gather together to make music. I don't know about you, but the fact of not being able to have face to face contact is killing me. Please stay save until we meet. Regards, Rodney

14.01.2022 Hi all, Without meaning to I left you hanging after my last post. The great news is that Gold Coast Temple will resume morning services on Sunday 6th Sept @ 9:30am. It would be great to see you all. In line with this announcement, the band will support this service. To prepare for this first gathering we will have two practices prior; Wed 26th Aug, Wed 2nd Sept.@ 7:30pm. We look forward to returning to the Temple and sharing in worship together. Covid restrictions will be in place for rehearsals & worship. God bless all who read our message. Regards Rod

13.01.2022 The first of our services to be videoed and online for others to view. Particularly for those who would normally worship with us.

13.01.2022 Gold Coast Temple band marching through the years ......

11.01.2022 Good evening, It is with a heavy heart that I advise the Promotion to Glory of Bandsman Howard (Howie) McGeachin. A thanksgiving service will be held at Gold Coast temple Salvation Army, Friday 20th November at 11:00am. ... Howie took his place in the band a few years ago, when he & Val moved to the Gold Coast, from Melbourne. Howie slipped into the baritone section of the band. After a relatively short time, it seemed like he had been with us for many years. Please uphold Val with your prayerful support for Val & the family

09.01.2022 Good evening to all Gold Coast Temple band members. Have you been practicing? If not, it's time to dust off your instrument and get it & your lips (except for Jessie & Phil) back in order. Within 48 hours I will notify you of the date of our first band practice & our first Sunday service. All steam ahead. It is a different world, but it's time to move forward. I'm looking forward to hearing the sounds of our band again. It goes without saying, I'm looking forward to being together as well. Rod

06.01.2022 This is the band in Covid 19 formation. Luckily we have a large platform. Everyone has to be 1.5metres away from each other..... quite a challenge. Current seating for band allows for 21 players & bandmaster, which allows for all band members. On the other side of the platform is our Worship Ensemble; 4 vocalists & 5 musicians, spaced for Covid also.

06.01.2022 I've left it for a while, but, returning to the leadership line, we've come to the end for the moment. In late November Jonathan McCorriston found it necessary to be away from the band over the Christmas period due to huge work commitments. Over this time I (Rodney Southall) was asked to look after the band leadership. In January Jonathan decided to relinquish the Bandmaster role. I was appointed bandmaster. I have been privileged to previously hold this position, and I looked forward to a great year, until Covid-19 hit us. Now we're on hold, waiting to see when we will come together again.

05.01.2022 Probably the last of our pre-recorded music for worship. Timely, as many are in isolation, Be still for the presence of the Lord. I hope this brings you a blessing.

04.01.2022 This ensemble of GCT band videod music to be used in a video broadcast if we were unable to hold meetings. Unfortunately, we were beaten by technology, and unable to make pre-recorder meeting for airing. Many of our band were away on the SA Caravan mission, or away on holidays.

03.01.2022 We are waiting to see the end of Covid 19 restrictions, so we can come together again.

03.01.2022 Hi all, This ANZAC day will be different for us all. This year the RSL, supported by the National Bands Assoc. and many other groups & individuals are trying to do what they can to continue honouring our forces. I encourage you to consider this idea. I currently have music for all parts, in many different keys, and for a huge variety of instruments. Please contact me if you need music.

01.01.2022 Thank you to all our bandsmen/women who took the opportunity to play on their driveway. Such a unique ANZAC Day; memorable, but hopefully one we'll not see happen again.

01.01.2022 A snipet of Star Lake from our visit to Howie & Val. Thanks to Robyn Earnshaw for the video.

01.01.2022 Bandsman Howie McGeachin was Promoted to Glory last week. This is the link to the Thanksgiving Service, held yesterday on the Gold Coast.
