They are also great for: Athletes and especially for those who need to stay strong and conditioned while they’re having time away from their sport Stepping it up in your home workout routine and get the heart rate up An advanced rehab exercise for lower limb injuries to progress into high impact movements and simulate running, cutting and jumping in a controlled environment If you do decide to use them I’d suggest trying 1 or 2 to start off especially if you’re not used to this sort of movement and warm up with a low-impact exercise first. These are great for: - Runners... - People with knee pain and other lower limb injuries - Increasing lower limb strength. Single Leg Squats target all the key muscles groups for distance runners. We also know lower limb strengthening can help running economy, performance and perceived level of fatigue The single leg squat is one of the best lower limb exercises you can do. It targets all of the main muscle groups for the hip, knee and lower leg better than most exercises. They are also a great progressive rehab exercise for many lower limb injuries, such as knee pain. They also help improve stability, control and coordination of the hip, knee and ankle and they EVEN enhance mobility of the hip and knee. For those of you who have not had the pleasure of meeting him, Djordje (pronounced George), joined us last term and is looking forward to another great year ahead with the CGS community. Djordje has been treating as a Physiotherapist in the Canberra region since graduating his Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra in 2015. Djordje has a keen professional inte...rest in musculoskeletal treatment for a variety of conditions, including neck pain, lower back pain, sports injuries, post-op rehabilitation and concussion. Over the past six years, Djordje has worked in a variety of sports settings both in Canada (ice hockey) and Australia (Aussie rules football, rugby league and soccer). From 2016 to 2019 Djordje was the Head Physiotherapist of the Junior Canberra Raiders U16 and U18 teams. Djordje has completed extensive training in concussion assessment and management with Complete Concussion Management Inc. In collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, Djordje can help manage the long-term health and well-being of concussion patients to safely return to learn, work and play. 13.01.2022 ONLINE PHYSIOTHERAPY AVAILABLE The Grammar Physio is offering online physiotherapy consultations via telehealth services. It delivers the same core services as an in-person consult but as the name suggests, we assess, diagnose and treat injuries all online.... Here is what is involved: When a patient books an appointment for in injury or complaint, we will then take the time to ask a serious specific questions. This will provide us with valuable information to give us the best and most accurate idea of what’s going on. We will then take our patients through a physical assessment to look at their basic movement patterns and may get them to conduct some key diagnostic testing to further help confirm our diagnosis. We will then take the time to go through what the injury is, how it may have occurred and the things in the person's life that may be contributing to it, things we can modify in our day-to-day to help manage it and what we are looking to going forward. From here we will create a customised rehab program tailored to each patient, together with a management plan specific to their needs, which we will send out to them. We will also go through the exercise program in session with each patient to ensure they are responding well and feeling confident with doing the exercises. Patients will receive a personalised exercise program, complete with video demonstrations through a free app which they can download on their smartphone, tablet, or access on their laptop or desktop. Patients can follow along and complete their rehab program, which we will guide them on how to use. We will also be posting instructions up on our page shortly. If we think that a patient does need to see a Physio or GP in person, we will always let them know. 10.01.2022 Wake your butt up with these simple glute exercises!! Today I’m going to show you 2 simple but effective exercises that target the glute muscles and how you can progress them yourself. These are great exercises to build strength or be used as a warm up for the glutes in your normal exercise routine for things like squats, deadlifts and lunges.... This muscle group plays an important role for: - Heavy duty tasks such as lifting - Runners - Lower back and lower limb injury management - Sport performance The glutes support the hip, pelvis and the lower back and thereby help aid in treating injury of these areas. We also know that weakness of the glute muscles are associated with various lower limb injuries and can help both prevent and treat pain in areas such as the knee, shins, heel and even the achilles tendon. The gluteal muscles play a vital role in running mechanics and influence both performance and injury management. They are also heavily involved in sporting and sharp change in direction, which is essential for a wide range of court and field sports. Alexandra is a Canberra born and bred physiotherapist. She graduated in 2015 from the University of Canberra with a Masters of Physiotherapy and has worked with various sporting teams since 2013 as a sports trainer and physiotherapist. Alexandra has worked with Ainslie Football Club, Belconnen United Football Club, Canberra Olympic... Football Club and Canberra Raiders Rugby League Club. Alexandra is a keen sports enthusiast and has played soccer, basketball, netball and waterpolo. She also has a keen interest in disability and is currently the ACT National Disability Chair, ACT Branch Council NDIS representative for the Australian Physiotherapy Association.
