13.01.2022 WEEK 6 ROUNDUP This week saw some mixed results, but some excellent performances through the grades. First win of the regular season to the 1s, led by twin 4fa’s from Ana and Linc, and a 100 run partnership from brothers Jack and Sam in the run chase. In 4th Grade, 3fa’s to Whybird and Dirk and a very important 50 run stand between Skipper Dean Croft and club favourite Percy saw the boys over the line. ‘What About That Guy!’ this week goes to 3rds Captain Vaughan Van De ...Meeberg with a ridiculous return of 7/20 off 6.5 overs. Incredible stuff Vaughan! Despite the loss, the 3rds are still placed 1st on the ladder with the skipper leading from the front. In the Junior Cricket this week, we saw some excellent acheivments in the 10s and 11s, wins in the 12s, 14s and Div 1 Open Turf, but there was a standout ‘What About That Kid’ this week, with young gun Kallan Hart following up his 50 retired last week with 3 overs, 4/0! That’s right, 4 wickets, 0 runs! Absolute superstar in the making. Masters Div 3 had a game Sunday with Mark Van-Heythuysen returning to form with 50 retired, and Simon Vander Kruik also posting 50 retired, the Hawks were able to overcome a slow start to post 159 from their 40 overs. Unfortunately, with Goodchap in fine form the total wasn't enough, with Queens passing the total in 20 overs. In other highlights, Rob Goodwin and Dom Treston both taking their first wickets for the Hawks. Also a quick shoutout to our "Volunteer Of The Week" Richard ‘Dicky’ Sen. Coordinating the Junior Blasters on a Friday night, coaching the Under 14’s team, running the bar and never saying no when help is needed, this award is well deserved. Great stuff Dicky.

11.01.2022 Week 7 Wrap Up This cricket-packed weekend was filled with a few indifferent results but nonetheless some outstanding individual results. Club favourite Percy with 4/5 in the 4’s, 5th Grade Gold claiming their first win of the season lead by Arno’s 50* and Snowy Jr’s 4/21. A maiden 50 for Helensvale from new recruit Jake Grove and a stunning spell of 3/25 from young gun Mitch Parkes wasn’t enough for the 1st Grade side against arch rivals Queens. But the headline act, tak...ing out 'What About That Guy!' was Matt Ruhle, with 68 off 66 balls in a tough loss for the 3s. In the Juniors, we saw a quick fire 53* from Harry Mackay in the 13’s, some excellent wins in the 11’s, but the highlight was from wicket-taking machine, and this week's 'What About That Kid!' James The Rig Guthrig with 5/22 against heavyweights Broadbeach. Extending an incredible run of wickets for The Rig, one to watch! We also have a special announcement to make, with one of our Junior Hawks reaching an incredible step in his budding career. Hayden Trevethan was selected in the Under 12’s Schoolboys Queensland Team, which is an amazing achievement for this young man, the first of many to come I am sure. Well done Hayden! Now to Sunday! Sunday saw our 1st Grade boys take on the table-topping Mudgee in the T20 Grand Final at Runaway Bay. Having lost the toss and being asked to bowl, our bowlers toiled but couldn’t quite get it right with Mudgee finishing on 194 from their 20 overs. With our back always against the wall, despite a blistering 53 off 35 from Harry Lickiss, we fell short. A special thanks to all the supporters who came along to watch the boys, the atmosphere you guys created was superb, and was very much appreciated. We truly have the best club people going around, something we should never forget.

01.01.2022 Week 8 Wrap Up This week saw plenty of good results in the Juniors, with the 12’s and 13’s recording big wins, and some excellent results from our Under 10’s and 11’s with supporters coming out to watch them all play. Highlights include a career-best 48* from Ben O’Donnell in the 12’s and unbeaten 50’s from Corbin and Harry in the 13’s. But the 'What About That Kid!' for this week goes to Jackson Thomas, with 50* and 2 wickets in the Under 10’s. Super performance! In the ...Seniors, we saw mixed results again, but some big wins in the 2’s and 4’s, highlighted by some excellent bowling from Jack Whitton (3/13) & Creeeeeeg (3/23) and some explosive batting from 'What About That Guy!' Ben Daley with 85 off 74 balls and Darcy Riley with 67* off just 29 balls. In the Over 40's, everyone's favourite light technician and club sparky Chris Castle took 5/41 (including a hat-trick) and SVK made 38 in a tough loss to Broadbeach. Excellent work guys, great to see some great performances across the park. Now to Sunday, where we saw the much-anticipated 5th Grade Derby, with Snowy’s Gold taking on Boof’s Green. The match couldn’t have started better for Green, with Marcus dismissing the short-favourite for top score Snowy with the very first ball of the match! Some composed batting from Conrad (25) and BBQ Webber (46) saw Gold scrap their way to 8-126 off their 35 overs. Green bowling highlights include 2 wickets to both Lee Greenwood and Cliff Blank, and some excellent death bowling from Marcus. Greens batting innings was looking steady early, before a terrific spell from Nathan Donnelly absolutely ripped the game wide open, returning fantastic figures of 5/20 off his 7 overs. At 7/68 the game looked as good as gone for the Green Team, but a spirited lower order fight back from Skipper Boof and Marcus, as well as Tony Vella who returned to the crease after retiring hurt, saw them require 12 off the last few overs with 2 wickets in hand. We have a nail-biter! Then the big clutch play from Josh Hatfield, dismissing the skipper for 15 with a ripping yorker to leave Green 9 down still requiring 12 for victory. With Josh Cook joining Marcus for the 10th wicket partnership, anything was possible. Needing 3 off the final ball of the match to win, Green could only muster 1 before Josh was the last man out, seeing Snowy’s Gold winning by just 1 run! An amazing day with a great spectator turn out, and some great cricket played by all. Go the Hawks
