17.01.2022 I’ve just awoken to find a post, on a local page, about the lack of things to do in Port Douglas. The post went so far as to say: It is so quiet, there is nothing to do there. My kids were so bored! I am glad I packed their Samsung Tablets. This video, that I am sharing is of the drive to Port Douglas. The road between Cairns and Port Douglas May be long and windy (um, how romantic did The Beatles make that sound??!!!), but it is picturesque! While preparing you... for what’s ahead, it leads you to a place that is just as magnificent. Every post I make from now until Sunday will feature Port Douglas and I urge you, while asking you ever so kindly, to share these posts please. Port Douglas needs you! The markets open on Sundays again soon. But not soon enough. I can assure you, there is loads to do!!!! And the locals will really appreciate your visit. Put down your kids devices and open up their eyes to a world of wonder, just waiting to be explored. There are fig trees to climb, rock pools to explore, trails to discover, picnics to be had, oceans to be explored and wildlife to meet! The Jingle Jangle Jingle is in pitch phase. Once we are on air, our aim is to showcase the gorgeous locations in our region, as well as the local talent and the history our people and their culture. So I am starting here with Port Douglas. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land and we pay our respects to the Indigenous elders: past, present and emerging We simply ask that you take a moment to appreciate the beauty in silence, and the wonders of nature as you wander the land. 16.01.2022 Where did winter go? Did anyone see winter?... I heard that she dropped by, I stepped outside to see her, I looked up at the sky. The sky was clear, a pale hue, Of the most remarkable blue! But there wasn’t a sign of winter there, I couldn’t see her anywhere! Did anyone feel winter? I heard that she’s nearby. Perhaps she got distracted? Or maybe she’s feeling shy. Silently slipping through the cracks, Of the window and the door; Trying to go unnoticed, As she sweeps along the floor. Did anyone recognise winter? On the day that she was near? Briefly for a a moment, I was certain she was here. I recognised the chill, I sensed the cold embrace, I am sure that I wasn’t dreaming, Just ask my toes and face. Did anyone miss winter? On the day she went away, The day after she arrived; I wonder why she didn’t stay. I love the feeling of winter, Most of all I love her style. Elegance and cuddly comfort, If only for a while. Did anyone find winter? She’s not here anymore. I can’t feel her in the morning, Or in the afternoons by the shore. Sometimes I think she’s back, But then it dawns on me.
