24.01.2022 Today is officially R U OK? Day! A day where we are reminded to check in on our friends and family who may be facing struggles and hardships that arent public or hidden. Last week, Natalie Nickson shared her story with our students raising awareness about mental health, reducing the stigmas and informing our students that there is always support for them. #Grateful #RUOK

23.01.2022 R U OK? Day was the main focus of Assembly this week. We were fortunate enough to have Natalie Nickson, a BeyondBlue ambassador who volunteered to speak about her battles with mental health. Natalie shared her story in order to raise awareness about anxiety, depression, reduce the associated stigma and encourage people to seek help.

23.01.2022 Last week we had 3 wonderful volunteers from the Australian Turf Club (ATC). Thank you to Amarjot, Flynn and Celeste for their fabulous job working around our outside area and clearing branches and debris from the Berne gardens. Our compost is overflowing! 22.01.2022 Stage 4 are harnessing their inner artist! Today, the students learnt how to create and use lino printing. They were able to draw, carve and finally print their own faces as art masterpieces. #Creative #MiniPicassos

21.01.2022 Our sincere and heartfelt thanks to Club Ashfield for their grant of $4,000 for ingredients for cooking classes and to purchase kitchen equipment and utensils and for the $1,500 to purchase literacy resources. #Thankyou

21.01.2022 During Stage 5 Living Skills, some students have taken up #photography. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to harness their photography skills that are also applicable in real life such as patience, concentration and creativity. #photooftheday #livingskills

21.01.2022 Bike Maintenance is another opportunity that Stage 5 experience as part of our Living Skills program. The students were interested in learning the ins and outs of maintaining a bike gaining practical skills, a sense of independence and saving them money. #HandsOnLearning #LivingSkills

04.01.2022 Staff are continuously striving for further professional development to cater to our student's needs at Berne. Recently, staff participated in a course on Youth Mental Health First Aid facilitated by Donna Redman. It was an excellent day learning about adolescent mental health and how to support them during a time of crisis.
