25.01.2022 Tying virtual encounters with real life environments is such a powerful way for children to encourage children to interpret what they see and what they know. Here children have a fish tank in the environment and then use projections of fish in the light and shadow room to extend their explorations. Such a rich way to develop vocabulary and understanding of their world.

23.01.2022 The Toddlers at Nature’s Atelier love to go on a walk. Sometimes it is more than just a walk. It is an adventure! A Bear Hunt! Our Mentors record the adventure I their own special story book! Literacy is always special when presented in authentic ways relevant to the child’s experience.

22.01.2022 At this time of the year ‘Christmas Spiders’ inhabit our space. They create a maze of fine webs and will weave anywhere they can. This year they have found our rope sculptures and are decorating them with their own ribbons of silk. How special is it for children to experience the return of the spiders year after year and reflect on their colourful decorations.

21.01.2022 On the 11th of the 11th children and Mentors discussed the significance of the day. Some children went out into our fields to paint poppies, although I do feel that more paint ended up on hands than paper. It is important to pause sometimes and consider our history with an attitude of gratitude for the community we live in. This is always done in age appropriate language and reflections.

20.01.2022 Today is Early Childhood Educators Day. It was a wonderful surprise for our educators when Vinnie, Tegan and Joe showed their appreciation for all their work with these fabulous cakes. Our Mentors work so hard for long hours so that they can give the best of support for our families. It means so much when their work is recognised with a simple Thankyou. Thank you to you all for the love you share and the energy you put into Nature’s Atelier and it’s dream.

20.01.2022 Today we thanked our wonderful Mentors for all their commitment with a small bunch of Proteas from the Yelverton Protea Farm. The protea represents change and hope. Early childhood mentors are the guides of the change makers of the future and work every day to bring hope to our community. @Yelverton Protea Farm

20.01.2022 On the 7th of November 2018 we opened our doors to our families and began building our Nature’s Atelier community. What a challenging couple of years for all of us . Thank you so much to all the families who began during those first few weeks and to all have joined us since. Thankyou also to the Mentors who have helped us along the way.... And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the Nature’s Atelier family.

17.01.2022 Sometimes it is just the encouraging words of someone who knows you which helps you to take that next step.

17.01.2022 What better way to spend your childhood holidays than catching tadpoles and building traps to catch yabbies on a rural property. This is what Nature's Atelier offers our children along with cooking in a camp oven, go-carts, large nets building a shed and a pizza oven. Holidays at Natures atelier takes children back to a different time full of new experiences and joy.

16.01.2022 Puff the Pizza oven is near ling it’s completion at Nature’s Atelier. The children have worked on this for the past 3 school holidays and in between. It will certainly be a focus of a celebration of the creativity and persistence of the children and staff. Can’t wait to enjoy one of Puff’s pizzas. Well done everyone.

15.01.2022 This week the light and shadow room became the vets office. The children worked hard to look after their patients. We hope to extend this when our vet comes to do his checks on the animals. Children like engage in role play which in turn helps them to understand the world they live in.

15.01.2022 If you have been to Nature’s Atelier you might have noticed our Welding Boy sculpture in the garden at the entry of the Homestead. Naidee came to work with us in October 2019 and painted the canvases in the Atelier with the children and taught us how to make hand built figures. During 2020 Naidee has been working in Thailand and we have received a sculpture called ‘Breaking Free from COVID’ You can feel the relief as you see and touch this joyous figure. ... If you visit rub his tummy or his head and instantly you will feel better.

13.01.2022 There is something special happening when a young child helps the animals in their lives. This young boy works to help Billy, our alpaca, to reach some nice fresh peppermint leaves. It shows a bond between animal and boy which will can only happen when a strong relationship has been formed.

12.01.2022 What a perfect spring day. Frogs playing in the pond an butterflies in the garden. At Nature’s Atelier we are surrounded by nature everyday. What a privilege that these gentle creatures share their world with us.

11.01.2022 So excited, today I received four large photo books of the Nature’s Atelier journey as documented on facebook, from when we started to build in early 2018, to the middle of October 2020. I know that the children and families will love to look at these books as they remember their time as members of the Nature’s Atelier community. Physical photos and books somehow are so much more personal than the digital platform.

11.01.2022 October School Holidays are almost here and the team at Natures Atelier are preparing for yet another fortnight of exploring and creating at our Bush Camp. 10.01.2022 Thank you so much to all the families who braved the weather to attend our Celebration of Community last night. Puff the pizza oven cooked wonderful pizzas for us , the silent disco and DJ were a hit and everyone had a great evening of conversation and friendship. Thankyou too to Kirsty and Sarah who both took on the role of chef to prepare the pizza dough and the toppings for people to make their own pizza.

10.01.2022 Natures Atelier looks so strange when the furnishings are removed. This weekend we will be having our fabulous cork floors lightly sanded and sealed. Looking after our vast environments is a never ending task and I am so lucky to have staff that work to look after the places where our children play. Thank you all of you for your efforts. Enjoy a well deserved long weekend.

09.01.2022 At Nature’s Atelier we run ‘Bush Kindergartens’ an Australia version of Forest Kindergartens. Our Kindergarten and Pre- Kindergarten children get to spend their days on our large property with different challenges than in Denmark but the learning is the same. We can see the difference in our children and we know they will be ready for anything they encounter. https://youtu.be/Jkiij9dJfcw

09.01.2022 For the past six weeks I have had the honor of meeting my second grandchild Matilda (Tilly) in Canada. Being a grandmother to Amabel and Matilda is such a joy. Thank you to all at Nature’s Atelier for looking after all the grandchildren who attend Nature’s Atelier while I have been gone. I now have two weeks hotel quarantine before I can return to Vasse. Such strange times we live in.

08.01.2022 Jumping off the stepping logs was definitely a favoured encounter today. Often these challenges are begun by one child and that child gives courage to their peers. It is wonderful to see our children grow through the year to be confident in their environment and with their bodies and what they can do. Those who don't jump will never fly.... 05.01.2022 What a beautiful way to end the day at Nature’s Atelier. Our gardens and kangaroo paws are spectactular at the moment and the sky is celebrating the wonders of the world we live in.

04.01.2022 The heat is back and so the Hills Hoist mister is also back. We have plumbed our old Hills Hoist so that in summer it provides a welcome relief from the heat but not the soaking a hose or sprinkler gives. These children are enjoying cooling off after a day at school....

04.01.2022 After SchoolPrograms at Nature’s Atelier sees the children engaging in those wonderful nature based encounters which all childhood should include. At the moment dandelions are flowering and forming the basis of so many magical childhood memories.
