24.01.2022 ||WORKOUT ONE 21-15-9|| Here is the first workout of our #thelifestylephysiocommunity workout challenge. (Sorry about the delay my internet is shocking ) Cycle through 5 rounds of: 21 Step Ups 15 Squats 9 Burpees... Take as many breaks as you need to get it done. Feel free to modify the workout as needed. Choose a smaller step or box for your step ups, don’t go as deep in your squats and do step out burpees instead of jumping. If you have an injury or feel as though you can’t do an exercise let me know and I’ll modify for you. Otherwise I look forward to seeing all your times tomorrow. And don’t forget to post in your stories or on your page once complete to enter the comp to win a recovery pack. Happy sweating #physio #freeworkout #exercise #workout #isoworkout #homeworkout #homewod #homehiit #hiitathome #noequipmentneeded

19.01.2022 Carrying on from last week here are my favourite upper limb warm up/activation exercises. Wait till the end to see a party trick from Rocco 1. Wall slides- band around wrist, pull apart so there is constant tension on the band. Move tour arm in and then up and out and then repeat with other side, zig zag up the wall whilst keeping tension at all times then slowly work your way back down. 2. External Rotation press- elbows at 90 degrees, pull band apart, slowly lift arms up ...to eye level. To progress the exercise further extend your arms above your head. 3. Round the world pulses. Starting close to your body pulse in and out 10 times, then straighten arms out in front, then at eye level and lastly above head. Constant pressure should remain at all times. Good shoulder health is important to minimise your chance of injury and these exercises will help to prime your rotator cuff and surrounding muscles to be able to tolerate the load you will place on them when training. Please try it out and tag me in your workout or share with your friends. Any questions 0481 192 290 or my DMs #physio #training #workout #exercise #crossfit #shoulder #prehab #warmup

13.01.2022 As physios we can’t tell you how excited we are to see sport back up and running! However, we do have some reservations and all you need to do is look at the extensive injury list in the NRL and AFL. These injuries range from season ending ACLs to short term sprains or soft tissue tears. This has got us thinking. How do you know if you’re ready to return? Are you as prepared as you think you are? Or have you already picked up an injury? We can put you through a detailed spo...rts screen tailored to your sports physical demands. This assessment will allow us to create an exercise program that is specific to you and aimed at improving your impairments to get you back on the pitch safely. Or are you currently carrying an injury? Give us a call or send a message to discuss your best management options. Our goal is to get you back to sport as quickly and effectively we can.

10.01.2022 We are so lucky to have access to this amazing gym. Being located in a crossfit gym allows us to be able to assess and test you in a functional space. There is no limitation to the exercises we can prescribe and observe you do. Plus look how cool it looks!!

09.01.2022 I know everyone is super keen to hit the gym but, here are 3 things you should stop and consider before running straight back in. 1Load management Start gradually and steadily increase. This includes; number of sessions, intensity of workouts, amount of weights, and repetitions just to name a few... 2Warm up Don’t neglect a your warmup. Your body needs to be prepared for what’s to come 3Recovery don’t over complicate it!! Good sleep, nutrition and active rest (e.g walks, swim, yoga, stretch session) If you have any questions feel free to reach out I could talk about these topics for hrs

02.01.2022 We’ve moved....... Well kind of! Our clinic still remains within the premises of Crossfit Altitude in Riverstone but we have moved upstairs into a bigger space. I am so proud of what we have achieved in just over a year and I can not wait to share with you what we have planned moving forward.... Firstly I would like to thank you! My wonderful clients. If it wasn’t for your support I wouldn’t have what I have today. Nothing lights me up more then getting people back on their feet doing what they love. Also a special mention to @wonderlandbuildinggroup who helped fit out the clinic in one short week. More photos to come once fully complete

02.01.2022 This week is National Pain Week 22 July- 28 July Most of us think of pain as a result of an injury or disease. We expect it will go away once we have medical treatment or the injury heals. For many people, this is the case. However for others, the pain doesn’t go away. In some cases, you can have pain even without an injury or obvious body damage. This ongoing type of pain is called chronic pain. Research has shown that physical activity is an essential part of treatmen...t. Here are our top 3 exercise tips: 1.Find an activity you enjoy 2. Take it slow and progress gradually 3. Ensure your program incorporates a mixture of strength and cardiovascular training See more

01.01.2022 What happens in the initial session? Assess and diagnose injuries. The initial session is vital for your physio, this is where you can expect us to ask many questions (all very important!). We will begin by piecing together a picture of your injury - how it happened? How it makes you feel and how it is affecting your life? Gathering as much detail as possible will help us form the upcoming assessment which will lead to a diagnosis but it’s also our opportunity to get to kno...w you. We might also ask some personal questions about your medical history. Don’t be alarmed! This is to help us provide you with the best care possible. The last few questions will be about your social history, for example; work, hobbies and family and this will lead into discussing YOUR GOALS of physio. Arguably the most important part. It helps us tailor our management to you! After the subjective assessment, we go through a detailed physical assessment of the injury. Some examples of tests may include; range of motion, strength, specific special tests and some functional tests. After this we will have gathered enough information to talk you through your injury. We can explain to you what is going on, prognosis (how long it will take) and what management you’ll require. We can also help with deciding if you need further investigations in the form of medical imaging or if you need to see a specialist. This is also your opportunity to ask us as many questions as you need to
