22.01.2022 You know what happens to small local business's when we dont have support from our locals/community??? We dissapear..... i am writing this in a bid to help a large majority of our very own, very talented, hard working, dedicated, eager to succeed locals. I am part of a dwindling family that gather at Providore Place Markets every Sunday to showcase their amazing products..... dwindling not by choice, but as a result in some very controversial/misguided issues within our c...ommunity, that are not only dividing our town but also damaging our small business's in the meantime. This is NOT the Tassie spirit i know and grew up in. I have personally sat back and watched as Providore Place has gone from such a thriving, exciting and succesful Market to now what seems like a waste of such great potential for our small town, with very little support. Do you know there have been roughly 130 stalls pass through Providore in the past 2 years?? Can you just imagine if even half of that number were still participating in the Sunday markets on a weekly basis???? Not to mention ALL of these products are Tasmanian made and grown .What an absolute awesome oppurtunity for the growth of our town and talent..... well, may i just say there is no success without support... and that is what is happening in this situation. Did you also know that today at Providore there was a free jumping castle, facepainting and childrens kareoke??? Or that this venue not only holds the Markets on a Sunday, but regularly supports events and local shows/productions?? Weddings, school leavers, an array of functions (including a lot of charity work) on a regular basis. This is just a small example of the rejection Devonport is facing in its attempt to expand and better our town for not only our locals but our (whether you like to admit it or not) expanding tourism. I am fully aware that in writing this i am going to put flare in a lot of people.... but i cant just sit back and let people be misguided anymore. as a mother of a young family the last thing i want my Children to do when they leave school is to flee to the mainland for the simple fact there is no potential here for their future. I welcome possitive growth and change to Devonport with open arms, as i know lack of oppurtunity was the reason i left here when i was younger (as well as most of my generation might i add). lets give our next generation the best opppurtunity to succeed in this town, lets create more jobs more reason to love our hometown and more reasons to stay and raise our families. 15.01.2022 Hey guys, after the sad news of providore market closing due to covid-19 a lot of people have made the transition to selling from home, including myself... I've always had the option for home collection but now ALL my stock will be made and kept at home for sale all through the week. Please let me know if you need refills or want to come and have a look, I'll be busy today and tomorrow stocking up so I have plenty available. Might need to make the house smell nice if we end up getting stuck in them
