25.01.2022 This Antimicrobial Awareness Week we are joining with health organisations around the world to promote the appropriate and safe use of antibiotics. Antimicrobials are very precious and we are raising awareness of the problem of antibiotic resistance. Antibiotics treat infections caused by bacteria. Overuse, misuse and inappropriate use of antibiotics may accelerate antimicrobial resistance. Everybody can be part of the solution - whenever antimicrobials must be used, they m...ust be used with care. The future of antimicrobials depends on all of us! Antibiotic resistance happens when bacteria stop an antibiotic from working effectively without effective antibiotics some procedures may not be possible and some infections could be impossible to treat. Learn more about the importance of keeping antibiotics effective at - www.safetyandquality.gov.au/aaw #thelockyerdoctors #WorldAntimicrobialAwarenessWeek

23.01.2022 World AIDS Day is held on 1st December each year. It raises awareness across the world and in the community about HIV and AIDS. It is a day for the community to show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died of AIDS related illnesses. As a community and as individuals, there is a lot we can do in relation to HIV. Working in partnership with people with HIV, we can encourage others to understand how HIV is transmitted. We can support pe...ople to access testing, treatment and care, as we know that commencing treatment at the early stages of HIV results in better health outcomes and reduces the likelihood of onwards transmission. Show your support for people with HIV on World AIDS Day by wearing a red ribbon, the international symbol of HIV awareness and support. #thelockyerdoctors #worldaidsday

13.01.2022 With the holidays upon us, maintaining healthy routines sometimes feels extra hard. But it doesn’t have to be! With a little planning and mindfulness, you can stay on top of your health while fully enjoying the holiday season. Holiday seasons are a time of family, friends, love and laughter and the possibility of eating and drinking too much! The truth is, most of us will over indulge but it’s important to remember to truly enjoy your holiday period, and if that means a f...ew social gatherings and eating extravaganzas with family and friends, then why not! Take the mindful and balanced approach. Having clear but flexible goals and strategies to be sensible with your food and drink is a good idea.
