25.01.2022 Michael just crossed 28km and doing it tough! This weather is awful. Give him some extra cheers to get him across the finish line.

24.01.2022 It’s the night before my 5th world marathon. I would never have thought that this time 2 years ago I would have achieved so much! I have loved every single mile I’ve run, not because they have been easy or fast, but for the person I have become along the way. Running a marathon is a journey of self discovery and one I am so thankful to have embarked on! If you want to join in on the excitement of race day, please download the Chicago Marathon 2018 app and search for my... number 3198 or my name Michael Bache. If you are running too, please drop your number in the comments as I’d love to follow your journey too! 23.01.2022 Recovery is a very precise process comprising 3 steps! Step 1: A massage post-marathon is both excruciating and amazing at the same time. I hobbled away from the table a little better than I hobbled in. Step 2: A full body cryotherapy session... snap frozen to -134F or -92C. It’s damn cold, but it feels so good after. ... Step 3: Is food time! A feast to satisfy a massive hunger. Cinnamon scroll with bourbon maple butter and sweet cream cheese icing, a Bloody Mary with bacon, shrimp and pepper jack cheese and lastly an egg skillet with Canadian bacon, caramelised onion and mozzarella. Salivating yet! #foodmarathon

22.01.2022 And he is DONE : 3:19:21 He did not qualify for @bostonmarathon which was his dream, but he did absolutely smash his previous marathon PB (by almost 9 minutes!!!) and he also smashed his previous half marathon PB which is pretty impressive to do during a marathon!... He also pulled both of these PBs in average weather and with a significant injury. Imagine what he could have done if things went his way today? I am beyond proud to be married to this incredible athlete and man!

21.01.2022 One week ago I was fortunate enough to run the Chicago Marathon. It was a fantastic race and despite the tough conditions it will be forever one of my most memorable. As I turned on to the finish straight, just 200m to go, I see a guy ahead of me leaning on the sponsors signage. It’s obvious he’s hit the wall and his legs just don’t want to go any further. The fence is supporting his body weight as his wobbly legs hang below him. I instinctively run towards him and in a singl...e move I throw my arm around his waist. C’mon! I yell at him. You’re not giving up this close, we’ll get you across the line. You can do this. Together we stagger towards the finish line, arms around each other. It was at that moment that I realised that running a marathon isn’t about competing against other people, it’s not even about the fastest time. It’s about runners competing together against the course and the challenges in front of them. I am so forever grateful for the lesson I learned that day and for my running buddy Randy! Who showed massive courage and commitment to finish the race, no matter what. This photo is my favourite marathon photo. To me it represents triumph over adversity and the strong bond between runners!

20.01.2022 This is what PAIN looks like... The pain of injury, the pain of knowing that you won’t BQ. But look at the perseverance... he’s been in pain for almost 22km at this point and he is still pushing through. ... When your body is telling you that you can’t this is where you have to control your mind and just keep going. So beyond proud of this guy for continuing to push through. He’s such an inspiration!

19.01.2022 I’m curious... who monitors their heart rate? I check my pulse every morning. It’s an early indication if something’s off in your training program. I also monitor it when I’m out running, especially on those long runs.

17.01.2022 Really happy with today’s long run! It was great catching up with a couple of runners from @houseofrunning, but it did cost me a bit of time. My goal was to finish the 28km at a 5min/km average. So I was proud of my efforts to make up that lost time over the next 20+km. Legs felt great and HR was nice and controlled. The only bad thing about the run... I accidentally stopped my watch early while trying to pause it at the traffic lights - Damn it! I did continue on and finish the full distance... I promise!

17.01.2022 I’m am so excited!! Just collected my race number and now getting ready to run the Chicago Marathon. I’ll post details of how you can follow me soon!

17.01.2022 Michael is crushing it! Started with the first wave and is keeping pace... . He whizzed past me at the first few cheer points (so fast all you get is blurry pictures of his back) and now I’m waiting at half-way for the all important hydration belt changeover.

14.01.2022 The legs may be tired and sore, but the memories of yesterday’s Gold Coast Marathon are fresh. Happy #MedalMonday to all the athletes that took part in all the events this weekend. A huge congratulations for getting out there and giving it a red hot go. Whether you achieved your goal or not, it doesn’t matter. I’m sure each and every one of you touched the lives of those around you and inspired them to greatness. ... Take a well deserved break and recover and I can’t wait to see you all back out there training for the next event! @ Miami / North Burleigh Lookout

13.01.2022 That was a fun interval training session with the Amsterdam Triathlon and Cycling Club #ATAC. Thanks for the invite @chriscuneo!

11.01.2022 Great run along the Amstel River this morning with @chriscuneo. A nice little half marathon before 9am.

10.01.2022 Early morning recovery run = Done! Feeling excited for Chicago... not long now!

10.01.2022 Haha! That's a good enough reason for me. Like if you agree too.

09.01.2022 Who can relate? What are your dream running shoes?

07.01.2022 Today is Chicago Marathon Day, which also means it’s the day Toni Bache gets to to keep you all updated while I run! I’m off to the start line right now wearing: @adidasrunners @thorlosocks @nathansportsinc @tomtomsports @lululemonmen and @underarmour like in photo 1.... In photo 2 you can see how I look now to stay warm and dry before the race (not included in the photo is hotel laundry bags on my feet ). Best of luck to everyone running today! Have fun!

05.01.2022 A tough day at the office, but that doesn’t take away from the fact I just completed my 5th world marathon. Such a fantastic experience! A HUGE ‘thank you’ goes out to my running cheerleader Toni who managed to see me five times along the course as she racked up the kilometres herself. Her loud cheering and encouragement means the world to me. Also a massive thank you to every single person who liked, commented and sent personal messages. You have no idea how much those words... of encouragement mean to me, especially when I was doing it tough in the closing stages. Thank you, I love you! Now it’s time for food!

03.01.2022 He’s almost done!
