I lead by example, when were busy everyone has their heads down. Other times we can relax a bit but the work still gets done. I also need to take care of my staff by doing things like making sure they have shifts when business is quiet. When staff are happy customers are happy and keep coming back, and its the repeat business and word of mouth that pays the bills. See more

And of course the Manly Sea Life Sanctuary has been built in the meantime partially obscuring our view of the Manly Pavilion but providing entertainment for kids of all ages. And the Pavilion itself is back as a restaurant ("The Bistro") and function rooms under the management of the Miramare Group and we can once again enjoy the magnificent views. See more

21.01.2022 MANLY THEN AND NOW: Norfolk Island Pines planted in the late 1800s (this photo about 1885 facing down South Steyne). Apparently various contractors were used f...or various locations up and down the beach and on The Corso. The overseer of the planting advised that once suitable locations were found the places were prepared by filling the holes with village refuse, and this was the masterstroke that made the pines prosper. Further enquiries have revealed that village refuse is no longer used to assist with Norfolk Pine Growth. See more

For...med in 1907 after 3 drownings, North Steyne S.L.S.C can proudly say there have been none since during its patrol hours. The have many claims to fame including being the inventors of the iconic red and yellow SLS caps, the only surf club to have 3 Gold Medalists at a single Olympic Games (Paris 1924) and is the only club to have won 8 Australian Open surf boat titles. The original building was recent...ly redeveloped for apartments upstairs with shops beneath. The tall post of the War Memorial can be seen in both photos. Erected in 1916 and unveiled by the Governor General it was donated by the Mitchell family, whose son Alan was killed at Gallipoli. See more
