25.01.2022 National NAIDOC week comes to a conclusion and we are celebrating all of the incredible recent achievements of our IMF family. You can achieve something very special also by getting involved with the IMF virtual run this November - https://www.imfvirtualrun.com.au On behalf of the IMF family we wanted to thank all of our awesome supporters, deadly run leaders, deadly runners, grads, IMP squad members & sponsors for an awesome 2020. In light of the year that has been, you have been incredible this whole time and it is this strength & resilience which underpins the pillars of our foundation #RunSweatInspire

24.01.2022 The mob in Alice Springs - getting the message through what IMP is all about #RunSweatInspire

24.01.2022 That’s 2... for 2 marathons in one month! Incredible stuff @ethanmulholland_ who just conquered the @stromlorunningfestival 50km ultra marathon event!! #runsweatinspire

23.01.2022 Great to hit the XC running trail at @stromloforestpark this morning with the most recent IMP graduate Googzy Thorpe! It was the first time Googz and Rob had physically seen each other since IMP try outs in March this year so great to debrief after Googz’ Melbourne marathon #runsweatinspire

18.01.2022 Today is international Men’s day and we wanted to highlight one of our IMP 2020 Squad members again this year Andrew Thorpe (Googzy Thorpe). Gunai and Gunditjmara man, Andrew had dreamt about being part of the IMP since he first applied to be a part of the project when he was 18 years old. 10 years later and after building his own business and bringing up a young family, Andrew is lining up to run his marathon this Sunday in Melbourne after spending the whole year training... in isolation. Andrew’s strength in adversity is what we feel underpins strong male role models. We only see our true selves when we are tested. Andrew has been tested more than many of the IMP Squad members that have gone before him. The fact he is on the start line this weekend is a true testament to his character and we wish him all the very best for his marathon journey on Sunday.

18.01.2022 In a year of countless virtual running events @imfvirtualrun had its most successful year yet! In November 2020 our amazing volunteers Sue and Phil delivered a spectacular result, with the seventh IMF Virtual Run raising a whopping $38,000. Of course this result wouldn't have been achieved without our generous participants - BUT it also never could have happened without the tireless dedication of these two incredible people. Thank you Sue and Phil for all your hard work behind the scenes! #runsweatinspire #imfvirtualrun #charity #runningevent #volunteers

17.01.2022 Tomorrow. We run. The sun begins to set in Victoria and when it rises tomorrow, so too will 2020 IMP squad member Andrew Thorpe as he tackles his marathon distance after training in isolation all year. We say the harder the struggle, the greater the reward and that reward sits 42.195km ahead of Andrew tomorrow. Join with us in wishing Andrew all the best #runsweatinspire

16.01.2022 If you haven't already started training, this is your warning ahead of the IMF virtual run heading into summer https://www.imfvirtualrun.com.au/ #RunSweatInspire #imf

16.01.2022 Should running 30kms not be tough enough, let alone facing this sort of Territorian terrain outside of Alice Springs #RunSweatInspire

15.01.2022 Thank you St Mary's Catholic College. The amazing students from the school's Run Squad amassed an impressive 1200km between them, raising funds for the Foundation through the 'dollar for km' event! Shout out to IMP Grad Brendan Peeters for providing some words of inspiration to the group of runners!!

13.01.2022 IMP squad member Libby Cook-Black speaks after completing the 30km run on Sunday in Cairns. She felt challenged in the second half of the race about reaching the finish line, but was able to draw on her own inner strength to get there #RunSweatInspire #IMF #strength #resilience #courage

13.01.2022 Incredibly proud to be the official charity of the Stromlo Running Festival this weekend in Canberra. A huge congratulations to Mel & the organising committee for making this a reality in such a difficult year. Let’s control what we can & let the rest take care of itself #RunSweatInspire

Thank you Bare Creek Trail Run for presenting IMF with a donation today and congratulations Lisa Murphy on the success of this event in what’s been an extremely challenging year on the running calendar! #runsweatinspire #barecreektrailrun #garigalnationalpark

09.01.2022 The ecstasy and the - literal - agony of finishing your first marathon at the Cairns RAW Marathon Festival. First across the line, what an achievement and an incredible accomplishment Brendan Larcombe! #RunSweatInspire #imf #champion #cairns

08.01.2022 Yesterday we showed you a snippet of IMP squad member Libby Cook-Black's thoughts. Here is what her co-runner, Alex Blanco, had to say pre-race after reverting from the unusual position of doing laps of his home island, Thursday Island, to running a much bigger lap on the Cairns Esplanade course. Alex struggled with sore feet at the halfway mark of the run to the point where he had to take his shoes off and at one stage felt he was set to quit the 30km trial. But a pact with Cook-Black helped after one of IMP graduates swapped his inner soles to ensure Blanco could reach the finish line #IMF #RunSweatInspire #Courage #resilience #hardwork

07.01.2022 A huge congratulations to IMP graduate #109 - Andrew Thorpe. 6 months of training in isolation = strength, determination and.... A MARATHON CHAMPION. What a champion. What an inspiring performance... and a pretty quick time too!!! 3 hours 23 mins 23 seconds. #runsweatinspire

07.01.2022 Current squad member Samara Fernandez-Brown led the conversation for the benefits of the Indigenous Marathon Project along with 2019 IMP graduate Shane Cook recently on CAAMA radio ahead of the Alice Springs 30km trial. Samara provides great insight on how the IMP further strengthens the resiliency of Indigenous Australia and provides young role models for Indigenous Australia while undertaking the project in a covid year.

04.01.2022 Some more great images have come in on proud Torres Strait Islanders Libby Cook-Black and Alex Blanco from their 30km trial on the Cairns Esplanade that ended with a moment of unified glory under the one flag #RunSweatInspire

04.01.2022 Here at Bramble Bay we have a Deadly Runners evey Sunday, we are located in Brisbane and run on Turrabl/Yuggera Country. We are so excited to share a small glimpse into the smiles and laughs we are so fortunate to enjoy. We value our connection to community and Country. We love our Family Sunday Fun day.

02.01.2022 The Cairns Deadly Runners and Walkers have been able to organise a marathon on Sunday after the Cairns Marathon cancelled its recent sanctioned event, forcing it to be run virtually. The Cairns Deadly RAW Marathon Festival will stage a full marathon, a half marathon, as well as 10km and 5km run events for around 30 participants including six travelling from Thursday Island. Two of the runners at the festival will include current IMP squad members Libby Cook-Black and Alex Bla...nco. The marathon will unravel some great back stories including Brendan Larcombe, who is determined not to let his past define his future. The marathon represents a future for Brendan and his three sons after years of battling his addiction with drugs and alcohol. I started running through desperation and a need to change my life. It gives me such a good feeling, clarity and focus, he said. He only discovered the Cairns Deadly Runners and Walkers while conducting rehabilitation. That dedication comes after not missing one session during the past 12 weeks to prepare for completing a marathon. I honestly never thought I’d be doing something like this at all, never in my wildest dreams until I joined the Cairns Deadly Runners. They give me so much support and have helped me to believe in dreams, Brendan said. Devicca Embahe optimises resilience, strength and sheer determination. Plagued with constant niggles and injuries from the start of her training, Devicca committed to seeing a physiotherapist for the first-time ever, but has also stopped drinking alcohol and smoking to give her body the best possible chance to finish this marathon, all while raising three teenagers. Knowing how far I have come on my own, from losing my best friend to suicide, drug and alcohol abuse, being a domestic violence victim, facing homelessness with three children, facing depression and anxiety, life hasn’t been easy, Devicca said. Devicca will run past a memorial tree eight times on the marathon course that she planted, at the age of 14, for her close friend who committed suicide. Great work all involved and good luck to the runners! See more

02.01.2022 The original virtual run is back for the whole month of November! Listen up to Deeks and join in this annual volunteer-run fundraiser #runsweatinspire #imf

01.01.2022 TUESDAY INSPO: Today we wanted to acknowledge a very special person. Googzy Thorpe (Andrew Thorpe), is a member of the IMP 2020 Squad. Googz has been based in Victoria the whole year - joining in with the IMP squad virtually and being a strong supportive squad member at all times. Googz hasn't yet run his marathon. When the IMP 2020 squad assembled in Alice Springs, Googz was unable to make it there due to COVID travel restrictions. We always talk about "The harder the strug...gle, the greater the reward".... Well, Googz is going to be running his marathon this Sunday morning in Melbourne after training in isolation all year. His course is an out-and-back Marathon from Black Rock Beach to Port Melbourne and back.... We will share a link closer to the date so you can track Googz' Run this Sunday but we just wanted to take our hat off to you Googzy Thorpe. In light of all of the adversity thrown at us this year, especially our Victorian brothers and sisters, you have shown an innate strength and resilience which inspires us all. Good luck Googz! #RunSweatInspire #IMP2020

01.01.2022 IMF director Rob de Castella has reflected on the success of this year's 30km trials in Canberra, Alice Springs, Cairns, Shepparton and Lakes Entrance in a statement to the national media: "This is our 10th year and it has been the most difficult ever, but also has been the most dramatic demonstration of indigenous commitment, hard work and determination, he said. Our saying, ‘The harder the struggle, the greater the reward’ has never been so accurate and the pride felt in achieving milestone from virtually no running to 30k, in just four and a half months around the country is just incredible. I couldn’t be more proud of them all." #RunSweatInspire #IMF #courage #hardwork
