25.01.2022 Melbourne's First Mosque Goes Green! In early October 2020, the Albanian Australian Islamic Society (AAIS) organised the installation of 50 solar panels on the roof of the Albanian Mosque in Carlton North. This was made possible as a result of the AAIS successfully receiving a generous grant of $12,500 provided by the Australian Government's Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources. ... The AAIS Committee was then able to organise installation of the solar panels by a well known and reputable company. The installation of solar panels is a fantastic initiative that will assist with reducing our energy costs and brings our Society a step closer to becoming more green and environmentally friendly. 24.01.2022 Halal Food Bank - Melbourne is continuing to provide support through current restrictions. In collaboration with their field partners (Muslim Aid Australia, Community Care Network, UMMA - United Muslim Migrants Association and Pillars of Guidance Community Centre), they are supplying ~250 food and hygiene boxes monthly, direct to those affected by Covid related unemployment/restrictions. At the moment they are working weekly to fulfill the requirements. Aside from this, Halal... Food Bank is continuing to supply ~150 boxes a month to their regular recipient organisations. 10.01.2022 Emergency Appeal for Izmir Earthquake Donate here: https://www.humanappeal.org.au/campaign/turkey-earthquake/ A 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Aegean region on Friday, greatly affecting the Turkish city of Izmir. Reports indicate that unfortunately there has been 111 deaths with over 1035 people injured. There are a handful of people with severe injuries undergoing surgery at this moment.... The city had 6 buildings completely destroyed, 10 of them collapsed with dozens greatly damaged. As a result thousands are on the streets sleeping in tents. Human Appeal’s field partners are undergoing emergency search & rescue operations to find missing people under the rubble whilst providing hot meals, food parcels, blankets and aid to the victims in need. Help the people of Izmir get back on their feet & donate now.

05.01.2022 ALBANIAN MOSQUE REOPENS On Monday 9th November 2020, the Albanian Mosque reopened for the five daily prayers. Then on Friday 13th November 2020, the first Jumu'ah (congregational prayer) was held. The Mosque has been closed since March 2020, so it was a joyous and spiritually uplifting week to have the Mosque open for worshippers in the community once again, Alhamdulillah.... As per current restrictions, the Mosque is currently limited to only 20 people for each congregational prayer. The AAIS Executive Committee will provide further updates as restrictions are eased inshaAllah. For those who would like to attened Jumu'ah, the online booking system opens up on Wednesday each week at 6pm. Dhe të Premten me 13 Nëntor 2020, u mbajt Xhumaja e parë (falja me xhemat). Xhamia ka qenë e mbyllur që nga Marsi 2020, kështu që ishte një javë e gëzueshme dhe me shpirtëra të lartësuar që Xhamia u hap edhe një herë për besimtarët në komunitet, Alhamdulillah. Sipas masave kufizuese aktuale, Xhamia aktualisht është e kufizuar për vetëm 20 persona për çdo namaz me xhemat. 05.01.2022 AAIS ONLINE CLASSES In response to ongoing restrictions, the Albanian Australian Islamic Society (AAIS) has continued to provide members with online services to keep our community connected. Weekly Online Educational Classes commenced in Term 2 and have continued in Term 3 for both Adults and Children of AAIS Members and families.... The following services are open to AAIS Financial Members and Families via Zoom: Saturday Children's Classes: - Junior Islamic Studies Education Classes (Kinder-Grade 1) - Primary Islamic Studies Education Classes (Grade 2-6) - Children's Quran/Surah Classes Adult's Classes: - Fridays 8pm: Weekly Islamic sessions explaining the meaning (Tafsir) of short surahs in the Holy Quran - Weekly Quranic Recitation Classes for Intermediate learners These sessions have also given Members the opportunity to ask Imam Perparim Sulaj questions related to Islam in general, as well as providing an opportunity to interact with other families from the Society. Members have found the sessions to be beneficial in reminding them to connect with our faith, whilst also maintaining a sense of social wellbeing in these challenging times. 01.01.2022 FASTING ON ASHURA | AGJËRIMI I DITËS SË ASHURES Ashura is one of the most emphasised days of the year to fast: Ibn Abbas (ra) was asked about observing of fast on the day of Ashura, whereupon he said: I do not know Allah's Messenger () singling out any day's fast and considering it more excellent than another, except this day (the day of Ashura) and this month, meaning the month of Ramadan. (Muslim)... It serves as an expiation for the sins of the previous year: Abu Qatadah (ra) narrated that Allah's Messenger () said: "Fast the Day of Ashura, for indeed I anticipate that Allah will forgive the sins of the year before it."
