24.01.2022 Meet Nev, my man. He really dislikes having his photo taken, like REALLY, REALLY, REALLY ... did I say REALLY! Im pretty sure I can say he is never going to be an Insta Husband. We captured this moment whilst we were hanging out at our favourite go to place to finish off the day, kicking back on Kilifi Creek watching the birds, the sunset, and just breathing in the beauty of life. ... The fisherman bopping around in there wooden canoes carved out of trees, fishing for their catch of the day. The children from the villages laughing and playing on the edges of the creek, the kite hawks calling from the sky. Its my favourite place in Kilifi and something I cant wait to get back too, having been away for so long. Nev is the reason I ended up living in Kenya after an unexpected meeting at a wedding in Bundaberg of all places, but that is a whole other story for another day. He may never be an Insta Husband but he totally has my back, always holding space for me to go higher. He is my greatest fan and my best friend, though some days I stretch him no end Im sure. He holds our boat steady, and gives me the occasional grounding when I need it. We start each day with a cuppa and a chat, and end our days with a swim or sun downers on the creek. He tears up every time I board a plane to somewhere, he is just so absolutely gorgeous. I think that is what is so sweet about him, that he doesnt even know it. Ah the richness in the simplicity ... Im curious Who is that special someone, friend, mentor, wife, lover you love to share the richness of life with? Share and tag in the comments below.

22.01.2022 The entrance to the great palace at Gedi Ruins on the Kilifi coast north of Mombasa. The earliest evidence for occupation at Gedi is a grave marker that has been radiocarbon dated to between 1041 to 1278, placing the original settlement of the site sometime in the eleventh or early twelfth century. Gedi flourished during the 14th and 15th century, and started to decline through the Black Plague bought in by the Portuguese traders and tribal fighting.... . . . . . #gediruins #immersionsafaris #archiology #adashofhistory #bucketlistadventures #kenyasafari

18.01.2022 As we in Sydney (yes I am still here) are in the throws of winter and winter is all about going within, so we can emerge like the Phoenix rising in the spring, Ive answered the call and created a 12-week online program ... YOU IN FOCUS! It doesnt matter where you are in the world you can jump on in and with a powerful and dynamic group of people who are choosing creative acceleration through being there most brilliant selves.... You can bring whatever you would love to the game, as long as you have a willingness to show up and play full out. It starts next Tuesday, August 20th, so dont be complacent if you have even a twinkling of a notion you are ready for your next expansion then DM me and lets explore what is here for you. This is a very powerful time where everything is evolving quicker and faster, it is exciting, expansive and full of possibility. You are going to be called to do the unthinkable, break the status quo and be selfish, so you can become selfless. There will be no room for hiding as we stand strong together and give each other and ourselves permission to drop the facade and fully show up. We will be curious, playful and push the parameters of what is possible, creating space for that quiet inner voice, that latent mission or burning desire to come to life. Equally, if you intuitively feel this might serve somebody else you know and love then please pass it forward. It is an amazing and privileged time to be on the evolutionary curve and Im excited I look forward to hearing from you if you know this is right for you. Much love Michelle x https://michellerichmond.com.au/12-week-intensive/

15.01.2022 7 months of me being in Australia and the kids seem to have grown massively ... all 50 of them. Its a privilege to sit with the Board of Kipchamgaa Childrens Home and explore how we can support these young people to have the best life and education possible within the parameters of their budget. Thankfully patrons from around the globe lovingly contribute to gifting the children a new life.... When I asked one of the children what books she would like, her response was a set of encyclopaedia s. Next trip our collection will turn from dust collectors on our book shelf to a much appreciated gift. As the children grow the trauma of their young lives is starting to surface, its challenging at best to know how to support them. . . . . #humbled

14.01.2022 The minaret at the 11th century Gedi Ruins on the Kenya coast. The call to prayer, Ashan is called out by a muazzin from the mosque five times a day, traditionally from the minaret, summoning Muslims for obligatory (fard) prayer (salat). A second call, known as Iqamah then summons Muslims to line up for the beginning of the prayers. The muazzin must face north so a small concave like bowl is carved into the back of the minaret which makes the call to prayer echo back over... the top of the archway to achieve through the old town. . . . . #gediruins #kenyanhistory #immersionsafaris #connectiontohistory See more

12.01.2022 One of the moments I fell in #love with #Kenya on my first #Safari. The richness, simplicity, and humility of the life of the #Samburu.

12.01.2022 #safarithrowback A glimpse into the life of the Samburu people - In our ever changing world the life of the #Samburu is simple in so many ways, equally it holds its own environmental pressures and other complexities as the call of the modern world and pressure from the government lures their young people away. These beautiful and gentle people live in a Manyatta, a cluster of 5 to 10 families, sharing their resources as they live a semi nomadic life. Their homes are built b...y the women out of cow dung and mud, they have a small dividing wall or two inside, and a small place for the fire to brew tea, with a tiny hole to allow the smoke to escape. The parents often sleep on dried cow hide as their mattress. Not the tanned type we might be used, one thats sun dried. The #Manyatta is surrounded by briar bushes to keep the predators away as the animals are kept safely inside at night.

09.01.2022 The beautiful and talented Ella Gibbins created this glimpse into our journey in the Congo last year, where the theme The contrast between the destruction and beauty of humanity, nature and ourselves literally came to life. It was a life changing journey that shaped us all equally in different ways. Impacting the way we see ourselves and the world. Thank you to Christa Billich for opening the Billich Gallery to us for the evening.... If you havent been there yet, its definitely worth putting on your have to visit list, more than a Gallery its a story of courage, insight, and pure artistic genius.

05.01.2022 Austin is so proud of his garden, especially now we are having fun creating new dishes in the camp kitchen using his produce. 05.01.2022 When the weather permits, we are blessed to be able to breakout, take the boat and watch the sunset over the vastness of Lake Victoria, as long as we are back by the 7pm curfew. 05.01.2022 Super excited when a visit to the Victory Farm garden revealed all manner of herbs and veges. 03.01.2022 A good news story from my beautiful friend Helen who led our immaculate 10 day Camel Trek through the mountains and desert of Northern Samburu in 2017 ... after ten years of no lions, no tracks, no sound they are back and we are so chuffed! it gives me goose bumps as it say so much about the impact that the team at The Milgis Trust is making. Their work with communities has significantly reduced poaching to almost zero, bought water to the people and protects the environme...nt. It just goes to show how one persons vision, and a whole lot of commitment can impact our big beautiful planet. We are booked in for our next trek in October, who knows with the current times but Im holding the vision as my heart fills just reading Helens email. #happydays #beautifulmemories #makinganimpact #immersionsafaris #safariadventure
