23.01.2022 Now more than ever we need to find ways to stay calm and remain positive. Meditation is the perfect tool to help you with this! For those of you that have never meditated before, think of meditation as focused thought, usually on your breathe or something you are visualising. Its as simple as that. Meditation means a cessation of the thought process, it is a state of consciousness or awareness, where our minds become free of scattered thoughts and various patterns. You... dont have to be on the top of a hill with crossed legs, facing the sun as it rises. You just have to be in a place where you can centre yourself, take some deep breathes and stop for a moment. How do I meditate? This is a question we nearly always get asked, when we suggest meditation to clients. The answer is that there are many different types of meditation: active or passive, guided meditation, visualisations, chants, heart or light meditation. Meditation can be as simple as closing your eyes and focusing on your breathe or doing a body scan. If you are new to meditation you might like to start with a guided meditation. 22.01.2022 Imagine you are faced with something that scared you. Perhaps when isolation is over you have been asked to give a talk in front of people or to rock up to a party on your own. (eek!!) It is easy for our imagination to run wild... imagining ourselves stuffing up, saying something silly, tripping over or wearing the completely wrong thing! With this, we "What if" our way through life and imagine the very worst scenarios playing out in our mind. ... Instead of considering what good may come we often worry about the bad which may follow. So how we do change this? We use a tool called... Positive Expectation... this is when we expect good and favourable results. Instead of imagining all the things that can go wrong, CHOOSE to imagine all the things that will go well! At the end of the day it is all a choice, you have control over your thoughts- both positive and negative. So why not choose to think positively and expect the best possible scenario. Now this tool is not just for use when big scary things happen in life. We can practise positive expectation every day. Try starting your day with the mantra... No matter what something good comes out of everything or perhaps Something amazing is going to happen to me today! Make Positive Expectation a part of your every day and see what starts to happen. Calligraphy is the art of producing beautiful writing. It can be achieved using a pointed or broad tip nib (which is dipped into ink), brush tools (such as a paint brush or brush pen) or even a pencil! In the workshop youll be guided in brush calligraphy practice where you will learn the fo...undations of calligraphy and how to use two different sized brush pens to achieve your own beautiful style. It is a perfect introduction for beginners into the world of calligraphy. 12.01.2022 It can be easy to feel stressed and uncertain in our world at the moment. But remember that you are in control of your emotions. You can still be cautious and be calm, you can still be prepared but patient. If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed or upset just STOP and take a deep breathe then pivot your thoughts to more positive ones. ... You could do this by: thinking of EVERYTHING you have to be grateful for right now- your family, your home, your job, food to eat, water to drink. Dont be tempted to turn this into a negative by predicting what you think may change in the future! being more present with your family and friends, it is hard to sit in negative emotions when you are living in the moment and not the past or the future. put a positive spin on everything... I have to stay at home.... great I will have more time to read, exercise, rest, play games or dance with my kids, learn new things. YOU are in control of your thoughts and when you choose to JUST BREATHE and think positively the results will speak for themselves. Love The Mindful Space Team
