24.01.2022 I am so pleased to announce that from our next meeting on the 6th March, we will be gathering at The Hub for Learning in Mitcham. This is a beautiful space set up by Andrea ODonnell and Kate Serong last year. Surrounded by parkland, it has a variety of room sizes available for private meetings, workshops and presentations. There is also a digital lab for training or learning opportunities. It's perfect for the Local Business Network Group meetings - and the best bit - ther...e's free coffee available there too! If you need to run workshops, have a breakout meeting with your team or just meet clients in a professional environment then give them a call. They are so helpful and friendly, I'm sure they will help you out! I look forward to meeting you there at our next event.

21.01.2022 This is a great way to unwind when things get out of control.

20.01.2022 Too busy chasing cows to build a fence! If youve been to one of our workshops youll know the Time Tools we talk about to move you from Urgent and Important to Non-urgent and Important - like taking time to build a fence instead of chasing cows! Love that example - it explains it so concisely. This article has some great tips and I highly recommend a read. I especially like the clear the decks strategy.

19.01.2022 At Tier One Recruitment the most important thing they do is help leaders achieve their dreams by adding value through talent. Maryanne and her partner, Paul are looking to stand out from the crowd by providing personalised service to their customers and candidates. They ensure that they go out of their way to understand the business and the team that the candidate will be working in so that they can find the best match for the role and the culture of an organisation. Its ...not just bums on seats! Maryanne told me. For her, the long-term retention of the candidate in the role is her goal, not just to fill positions quickly. She is most interested in developing long-term relationships with her clients so that she can really understand their business needs. Tier One provides a full end to end recruitment service and support you throughout the whole recruitment process as well as providing a 3-month replacement guarantee. They offer recruitment services to all industries while specialising in the Accounting, Office Mangement, Construction, Trades and Sales. Maryanne would be happy to talk to anyone about their recruitment needs, so give her a call. Maryanne would love to learn more about your business and to see how she can support and build a long-lasting relationship with you to understand your business objectives and long-term staffing goals. https://tieronerecruitment.com.au/ Would you like your business to be promoted here for free? Send me a message and we'll organise a time to catch up.

18.01.2022 For 20 years, Tran Truong and her sister Hanh worked as IT professionals. They still wanted to provide healthy nutritious meals for their families using quality sauces, but couldnt find anything on the market that matched their expectations for taste and quality. On the weekends they would spend their time making healthy quality food for their families, creating their own sauces and condiments and giving them away to family and friends. As their families grew and they were... looking to change careers they decided to hold a stall at their childrens schools market night. They sold out and took orders for many more bottles of their quality products on the night! Poppysmack was born! The name is inspired by the sound you make with your lips after eating a delicious, tasty meal. As an instant success, they realised that there was a market for their product and so began production in their home kitchen. As they grew they moved out of the family kitchen and into a commercial kitchen and continue to hand-make, bottle and label all of their products. Their products are beautiful. They are all made with quality Australian ingredients, except the odd ingredient that isnt available in Australia but they have found that most of them are. Their products are gluten-free; most are vegan and they use no added preservatives, no msg or colours. The next step is to increase the range of vegan products as this is a growing market and to create replacements for the tomato sauce and barbecue sauce their kids love so much! As well as the sauces they have the rice paper roll kits which are so simple to use that you could easily have a healthy dinner on the table within 15 minutes of getting home at the end of the day. Everything you need is in the kits; you just need some veggies and meat if you want to add it. No more Uber Eats when you dont feel like cooking! They can also create their sauces in bulk for restaurants, cafes and takeaway shops. They are distributed through Colonial Fruit Co and some IGA/Foodworks stores around Australia or you can order from their website and have the products delivered to you. You can also find a list of markets that they are appearing at if you want to try the products firsthand. https://poppysmack.com.au/

14.01.2022 Sales! The lifeblood of every business - and the "ickiest" bit too - am I right? What if you could create a Sales system that took away the "ick" and had people lining up at your door (actual or virtual) to buy your products or services? Wind down into Easter by joining us on Wednesday morning and walk away with an actionable strategy that will make a real difference to your sales results (and maybe an Easter Egg or two )... Guest passes are available, so follow the link! Don't be a bunny! See you there.

14.01.2022 Daniel Norton and his business partner Ash Rohamally worked together for many years in a training organisation. When that organisation closed, they both found that the clients were still contacting them looking for their help. So, it was then that Daniel and Ash decided to start Konnect Employment. Using their extensive connections with job placement agencies, they found a niche providing quality employees for businesses using an under-utilised sector of the market. By ta...king advantage of the many government incentives that are available, Konnect has been able to provide their service free of charge! You dont find that in many places these days! Their unique system ensures that you as an employer have the greatest chance of finding and retaining long-term quality employees. The ongoing connection, training and support they offer means that you will find fantastic diamonds as Daniel described them, hiding in the places that you may not think to look. With the background in workplace training that both Daniel and Ash have, they can also tailor a training solution for your team or individual staff members to improve skills and build your business using the talent you have within it. Their agency is growing rapidly, and no wonder with the type of service they can provide at no cost! Is it too good to be true? The only way youll know is if you contact them and have a chat. While we were talking Daniel mentioned another cause that is close to his heart the 100Words Mate to Mate Dinner that he has organised. This initiative aims to get men together in a social environment to encourage them to open up and talk about the struggles they might be having, and to give them the language and strategies to use if they think a mate might be struggling. The event is sold out now, but I would strongly encourage you if you think its a cause you can get behind, to follow the page and keep informed about the issue and the next event. Would you like your business featured here? Contact me and we can arrange a time to connect.

14.01.2022 Do you ever find yourself thinking that that you should be eating better? Most people want to improve their eating habits, increase their mental and physical energy levels and feel well but are confused about where to start and how to start. Nakiya Russell started Amalia Health- Nakiya Russell Nutritional Medicine to teach people exactly where and how they can start. A long-term science lover, Nakiya experienced her own frustrations with the medical world and turned to nutr...ition to find answers. What she found was that food is the key to solving many common health issues. Let food be thy medicine, said Hippocrates and its so true. Nakiya helps her clients back to health, improving their vitality and reducing stress by helping them to eat properly. It might sound strange to talk about eating properly, but our modern world has moved us so far from what is natural for us that we find ourselves confused by all of the information out there. What should be instinctive is no longer so, so we turn to professionals like Nakiya to get us back on the path to wellness. Nakiya has helped many busy, hardworking professionals who are frustrated with how they feel and are looking for a way out to get back to health with her 12 Weeks to a Sustainable Life program. She has even started helping athletes with their specific training plans to optimise their performance goals. To learn more about what you could be doing to improve your life, contact Nakiya and have a chat about where to start. Would you like your business to appear here? 13.01.2022 What do you do when youre looking for a specific gift, but you cant find it on the market anywhere? You start making them yourself, of course! At least, thats what Dianne and Doug Bouwhuis did. Dianne wanted to give her dad a family picture as a jigsaw puzzle but couldnt find anywhere that made such a thing. So, she did some research and found out how it was done and she and Doug bought the machinery and started making personalised jigsaw puzzles. Since then Dmemories...4u Jigsaw Puzzles has produced puzzles for everything from childrens parties to product launches for corporations. There are so many ideas that spring to mind when you start to think about how you could use these, for example, one customer had a puzzle made for her wedding. She had the pieces at each place setting so that everyone could write a message and the puzzle was put together throughout the night instead of having a guest book. Brilliant! Anything you can think of they can do it for you; birthdays, Christmas, gifts, launches, goody bags, school photos, special occasions ... the list is endless! You can even order them yourself through the website, just upload your photo and place your order. Its that easy! But if you want something special its best to get in touch to see what Dianne and Doug can do for you because whatever you want to do, theyll make sure they can produce it for you. If you have a new product launch or a special event coming up for your business and you want to include a quirky gift or goody bag item, why not have a jigsaw produced? Any event planners or marketing people this is the little bit of something different that could set your event or campaign apart! The sizes can vary from small to large (over 1000 pieces) depending on your needs. They can be branded with your brand and delivered to you or to your customers on request. https://www.dmemories4u.com.au Want your business to appear here? Send a direct message and I'll be in touch to make a time to chat about your business.

12.01.2022 It was great to catch up with Najla El-Jari again to see how far her business has come. Nestled in the heart of Bonbeach and just a block from the Bay, Najla has set up a beautiful shopfront/office for her business to thrive. In 2018 Najla moved into the office and she began setting up her Building Design business. After graduating as a Building Designer, she initially found it difficult to find work. So, she set up her own business and has been going from strength to stren...gth since. A lot of Najlas work involves dealing with local surveyors and councils to certify unapproved works, people have had done on their house. She will often go into bat for the client and get approval for the work so that they are saved the cost of tearing down what they have just put up. It is one of the services that Najla offers that makes her business different to just getting a set of plans drawn up. She will do all of the council approvals and liaise with the builder to ensure your job runs smoothly and to your expectations. Najlas philosophy is centred around creating liveable spaces that function well as well as look beautiful. She loves to create homes for families that are growing, or just want to make things work a bit better. Many people these days want an alfresco area to enjoy with family and friends, so Najla does a lot of these sorts of plans for people. Najla also enjoys working on commercial properties and with builders too. She has done design work for everything from cafes to factories. Her office on Nepean Hwy is set up so that she can collaborate with builders and developers face to face in a professional environment. If you are frustrated with your house or are looking for more space, to update or to redesign your home so that it looks and functions beautifully, I can highly recommend you get in touch with Jari Building Design. http://www.jaribuildingdesign.com/ Like to appear here? 12.01.2022 Every time I hear objections from business owners who don't think they have the time, money, capability....whatever.... to work ON their business, I think of this cartoon. Sums it up perfectly! Stopping the hard slog for a bit to change the wheels will mean that you'll go further faster. But sometimes we are so caught up in what's happening right now that we can't see what's right there waiting to make our lives easier.... What are the square-wheeled carts in your business?

12.01.2022 Last week I had the pleasure of being invited to Urban Float Ringwood by Darren to experience a 1-hour floating session for myself. Having done this once a long time ago (back in the 80's - but don't date me!) I thought I knew what to expect, but my how things have changed! The experience begins with a quick demo from Darren about how the floatation tanks work and how to turn on the lights if you feel like you need them. Then you are left alone to shower and hop into the ta...nk. Once you are in the tank with the lid closed, the lights in the room go out and the soft music begins to play for 10 minutes. This was a time of a bit of adjustment for me, getting used to the complete darkness and adjusting my position to be comfortable. By the time the music had ended, I was feeling comfortable and relaxed. I had a brief moment of feeling like I needed some air as the water and air temperature evened out, but this passed very quickly. Once I was adjusted I felt like I could have been floating in the ocean - I had no sense of being enclosed at all! For the whole hour, I felt entirely relaxed and calm. Before I knew it the hour was over and I was greeted with a lovely green tea as I relaxed in the lounge. Darren and Suzy have thought of everything here, from the lighting, the privacy, the soft towels and the hair drying room. Lots of people use floatation as a way to de-stress, others use it for pain relief and muscle recovery. The salts they use are of the highest quality and the water is filtered for 15 minutes after each use. The ambience is perfect and quiet so when you've finished you feel as though you've stepped out of your life for 90 minutes and retreated to an oasis. I highly recommend giving this a go. I know I will be doing it again soon! They also have a salt room now - so give that a go too!

11.01.2022 The practise of traditional Chinese medicine has been around for over 4000 years. Many of the basic practices that have been used to cure and heal over those millennia have been lost and replaced by Western medicine. So, it was fascinating to find a person like David at Eureka Traditional Chinese Healing Clinic, using ancient philosophies and practices to diagnose and treat illnesses. Using acupuncture, reflexology, cupping and guasha (scraping of the skin), David can treat ...the underlying cause of your symptoms and conditions so that you can avoid long-term treatment. The biggest issue David finds is that people turn to him only after the condition has progressed to advanced stages instead of seeking his services from the start. He told me that it is much harder to bring someone back to health when they are in an advanced state of disease, its not impossible, but requires a much longer treatment process. I was impressed by Davids knowledge and his willingness to talk about his philosophies of using food to improve specific conditions. His diagnosis process takes only 10 minutes, but in that time, he can see what the body is telling him about underlying stresses within the body. He explained a little about how people should have different diets based on their type some people are hot; some people are cold. This is something I had not heard before. Ideally, instead of coming to David as a last resort, he suggests that people should be open to using Chinese healing to improve their health when they are well. Prevention is better than cure, and with a quick session, you could find yourself on the way to long term health. For David, this is a passion, not a job, so although he works in another field, his clinic has times available in the evenings and on Saturdays. Would you like your business to appear here? 10.01.2022 Ballroom dancing has had a bit of a resurgence in recent years due to a certain popular TV show! But MarShere Dance Studios - Ferntree Gully has been in the game for 40 years. The studio in Ferntree Gully is the original location for this thriving franchise. Shane has been an owner since 2002 and he was joined by his sister Erin in 2006, they now co-manage with skilful assistance from Delia who helps with the general management of the Studio. Shanes love for dancing starte...d back when he was a teenager a late starter according to him. At 22 he decided to turn professional and achieved great success in his own career. He was working at MarShere as an instructor when the owners offered him the opportunity to take over about 16 years ago. MarShere offers a great range of classes for all skill levels from beginner to competition. The social dancing classes offer people looking to try dancing the opportunity to learn without experience or partner, but can provide exercise and more importantly, social interaction. In these days of greater isolation, dancing provides a unique opportunity to meet and mix with people from all walks of life. This was one of the benefits highlighted to me by Shane when we spoke. It forces people to put down their phones and talk, he said, when youre matched to a partner you need to talk and work together. For people who wish to take the leap, there are private lessons that can take someone all the way to competition level. Shane told a story of a couple in their 60s who have private lessons twice per week and then travel the country going to competitions! Thats a different way to do the grey nomad thing! The styles of dance taught at MarShere are Standard, Latin, Street Latin and New Vogue yes, its Strictly Ballroom! If you are interested in giving it a go, you dont have to know which style you want to learn. The social classes give you exposure to all of the styles, so you can experience them all. As you become experienced you can achieve different levels of attainment through assessments. The studio is open 7 days per week and you can check their website for the times of the social classes and private lessons. For a free first lesson you can follow this link to give it a go! https://students.marshere.com.au/free-class/ Would you like your business to appear here? Send me a DM and we can make a time to chat.

09.01.2022 Stacey Randle started Earth Inspired by making a mud kitchen for her daughter. As other mums, or more precisely kids, saw this creation they would ask Stacey if she could make one for them and just like that, a business was born. Stacey moved the business online advertising on Facebook, Gumtree and eBay but mostly attracts customers by word of mouth. Since the mud kitchen, Stacey has extended her beautiful wooden creations to include giftware, planter boxes, toys and furn...iture. The items that Stacey creates have a rustic and yet modern feel. Shes done work for local shopping strips like Warrandyte, creating a consistent street appeal with sign-written planter boxes as well as display units for gifts, biscuits and other products. Her giftware is beautiful and innovative. The guitar-shaped cutting board is something Ive never seen before, but the perfect gift for the music-loving cook in your life! At markets, one of her biggest sellers is the little owls she makes out of offcuts. Sometimes you just dont know whats going to work! Stacey is looking to work with retailers to sell her giftware but is also available to create custom pieces for companies, individuals or councils. You can find Stacey at various markets around the place, just keep an eye on the Facebook page for details. Or you can contact Stacey to discuss what it is that youd like her to make for you. Would you like your business to appear here? Drop me a line and we can work out a time to get together.

06.01.2022 A playground chat turns into a business doesnt happen that often, but thats exactly how Kate Moore and Kirsten Watts started Soda Grey. Kate was producing her art with Shadowline (as previously featured here) but wanted to see what other options were out there for her to use her creative talents. After playing around with various options she spoke with Kirsten in the playground at school and started talking about what they could do together. Soda Grey produces the most ...exquisite corporate gifts that will impress any client, supplier or staff member. Be known for giving is the motto of Soda Grey, and believe me, if you were to send one of these gifts thats exactly what you would be known for! Their items are made in various materials including slate, timber, marble and Corian (which is a bit like granite without being as heavy). Their packaging is beautiful sleek and stylish boxes tied with a ribbon, and they can add your corporate logo with a laser-cut gift tag or engraving on the products themselves. A scroll through the gallery on their website will give you many ideas for your next round of gifts. They can mix and match their items to suit your needs or you can order one of their gift boxes as shown. You can even order individual items if you wish to add them to your own gift baskets. They can work within your budget and suggest something suitable for you that will impress your clients. Soda Grey has been working with mostly real estate agents as their range perfectly suits the real estate client market as settlement gifts, but they are able to cater for all sorts of corporate clients. www.sodagrey.com.au Would like your business to feature here? 03.01.2022 Kate Moore is a graphic designer who has created beautiful original art using the personal photos of her customers. Kate began by playing around with Photoshop and finding ways to combine images in a creative way to produce the stunning portraits that she showed me when I visited her recently. These striking images certainly tell stories as the Shadowline Studio by Kate Moore card says "Personalised artwork that tells YOUR story". The collected images for a family history we...re particularly interesting to me, showing four generations of a family in Ballarat. I could see how these artworks could become incredible heirlooms in a family. Another impressive piece was the collective picture of 16 grandchildren in one photo that came from individual photos of each child! The artwork brings together things that people love, so rather than just a photo of the family, they incorporate images that relate to the story like favourite holiday spots, landmarks, family homes, special occasions or other meaningful images. They are perfect for celebrating a special occasion like a significant birthday, the birth of a child or a wedding for example. Kate spends time with her customers learning about the stories they want to show so that she can inject those heartfelt words into a gift that is truly personal. Kate has also produced art for cafes, restaurants, wineries and other businesses often depicting the history of an area or images that relate to the type of business. Her Melbourne piece is available on the website for sale and is a beautiful image capturing some of Melbournes best-known icons. The images can be historical or modern, either works equally as well in these pieces. For people who design for homes, hotels and businesses, these images look so beautiful mounted either on canvas or on acrylic and at any scale, they would be perfect for making your interiors look stunning and creative. https://www.shadowline-studio.com.au/ Would you like your business to be featured here for free? 01.01.2022 In a competitive property market, it can be difficult to stand out from the crowd. One of the factors that can make all the difference is how your property presents in photos and at open for inspections. Many agents and clients are now realising the benefits of having their property styled by a professional. Tanya Shaw-Scafidi and her team of stylists at Mecca Property Styling have been doing this exact thing for the past 5 years and have added value to so many property s...ales in that time. At any one time, they have enough style options to cater for 60-65 homes at once! Their warehouse is full of furniture, cushions, lamps, rugs you name it! The style that Tanya prefers is a contemporary look, something that most families or buyers can resonate with and could see themselves living in that space. This is one of the main reasons for property styling, Tanya explained. To showcase the property in the best light, highlighting the features of the home. The stylists that work at Mecca Property Styling are all from backgrounds in real estate, interior design or property styling, but the most important factor for Tanya is that they are all caring and empathetic people. This is important because for her customers it is an emotional and personal decision to sell their home. Connecting with the person who is making these styling decisions, knowing that they understand the stress involved in the sale process and that they will present their home in the best possible light. Its all about trust. Property styling isnt always about taking everything out and replacing it. Sometimes it might be as simple as reorientating what already exists or refreshing with accessories like cushions, lamps and rugs. The stylists are able to work within a budget to create a package suitable for your circumstances. Their expertise will result in a final selling price that far exceeds the cost of having your property staged, as much as 8-10% difference. In April, the clearance rate was around 60% in Melbourne, the clearance rate for properties styled by Mecca was 86%. So if you could invest a small amount to get a 26% better chance of selling, would you? Mecca Property Styling can work with you at any stage of your sales campaign. As part of the marketing strategy, we can work with your team to get you sold for a great return. http://www.meccapropertystyling.com/ Would you like your business to be featured here? Send me a direct message and we'll make a time to chat.
