19.01.2022 Unfortunately we had to reschedule our Stargazing tonight to next week. The weather forecast for next week is a lot better and on Friday, 9 October, with a moonless night we will not only see Jupiter and Saturn up close, but our 22" mobile observatory will also showcase distant galaxies! Don't delay, book now as numbers are strictly limited. Click the link below or check our events page for details. :) https://fb.me/e/1tQr4bOfd

18.01.2022 For those of you interested and keen (sadly 3:00am for us in Western Australia), here is an interesting NASA event.

18.01.2022 We will be at Saint Aidan Wines again, exploring the wonders of the universe under their beautiful clear skies... but this is the first - and only time this year - that you will have the opportunity to see Jupiter and Saturn through our 2.3m tall telescope. It will be a wonderful evening of delicious food, a glass of wine (or two...), and a stargazing experience to remember! The rugged lunar landscape of craters and mountain ranges, yet the moon is crescent and not very brig...ht so if conditions are right we will showcase beautiful star clusters, wondrous nebulas, distant galaxies and some of our neighbouring planets before they set. As the planets will begin setting early, they are not visible during summer, so this a great opportunity to share the views among friends. Bookings through the link below and any dietary requirements, please contact Saint Aidan's directly. If you have any queries about the telescope or viewings, feel free to reach out to us. Look forward to meeting you then! :) #australiassouthwest #bungeo #astronomyexperience #observatory #largetelescope #fergusonvalley

15.01.2022 Hey everyone, I have been trying to post a poll all afternoon and getting an error back, so I decided to just go with it as a post for now. Who would like to see Jupiter & Saturn through our 22" 2.3m tall mobile observatory over the next few weeks? The weather can be unpredictable, but if we have enough interest we will schedule a session near Busselton, because unfortunately , the planets are not visible during summer! ... We are looking at Friday 25/9 or Friday 9/10 - Let us know your preference in the comments! CAST YOUR VOTES NOW!!!! :

15.01.2022 Sadly the weather is not on our side and we are having to cancel tonoght's stargazing at Saint Aidan Wines Nature is indeed wonderful and unpredictable! Working on a December event... conditions will be great for the weekend of 18 / 19 December... is it too close to Christmas?... Let us know if you're keen and we'll make it happen! :)

14.01.2022 Unfortunately the weather is not on our side this weekend. The Solar System Discovery at Mandalay Holiday Resort & Tourist Park tonight is cancelled.

12.01.2022 Astronomers have been able to observe and record two very rare star happenings The first one, as illustrated below is an impression of a star being sucked in by a super massive back hole, which happened only 215 million light-years away. This process released a bright flare of energy which astronomers detected and observed with a range of very large telescopes. The second is a rare binary pair of stars, that if conditions are right, pump out huge amounts of carbon dust driven... by their extreme stellar winds. The dust gets wrapped into a beautiful glowing sooty tail as the two stars orbit one another. Click the image or title below, to read the full article. #astronomy #largerelescope #stars

12.01.2022 Unfortunately the weather is not on our side.... yesterday we remained hopeful, but it seems that cloud cover will prevent viewings tonight. We wanted to take the opportunity of having some sessions during the school holidays, but unfortunately the weather has not cooperated and it has been a very rainy, cloudy, windy early spring. People who pre-booked are being contacted directly. To all those who wanted to see the planets all I can say is - let's hope we can catch them i...n November. Keep an eye out for upcoming sessions that will be scheduled in the next couple of weeks. Enjoy the weekend! #astronomyexperience #southwest

11.01.2022 How the planets shape the Earth. The Earth's massive bodies of water and land are affected by planetary forces. Scientists now have additional information to share. #scienceiscool #solarsystem #planets

10.01.2022 Galaxies, dark matter and diamonds in space. Read the article to find about the "...unusual extra-terrestrial diamonds formed through the immense shock pressure that occurred when a large asteroid or minor planet smashed into the surface of the ureilite parent body,

09.01.2022 We may not be able to see those beautiful colours when looking through our mobile observatory, but it still provides one of the finest views you can get seeing it with your own eyes. You see, much of space offers colours and sounds that escape our human abilities to perceived; like the colourful cluster shown below, which was captured using an x-ray telescope. We have been lucky enough to see with our telescope, deep space objects like distant galaxies and gorgeous nebulas...... and next Friday 20th at Saint Aidan Wines and with the faintest moon, we will be showcasing not only Jupiter and Saturn, but also star clusters and galaxies. It is a treat to view the planets in the South West, as they are best seen during our winter months... in a couple of weeks they will be setting earlier and will no longer be visible at night. There are a few tickets left, so book now and join us for An Evening of Grazing, Grapes & Galaxies - before it's too late! #astronomyexperirence #observatory #largetelescope #foodandwine #fergusonvalley #bungeo #southwest #australiassouthwest

06.01.2022 There is no doubt that we are social creatures. If we have a problem, we want to get it off our chest... And when we have something amazing happen, we want to share it with the people that matter to us the most.... Who will you be sharing with, the incredible views from our solar system and beyond? Bring your partner, bring your friends and join us tomorrow at Saint Aidan Wines for an evening of Grazing, Grapes and Galaxies! Ticket sales close today.

05.01.2022 The universe has incredible sights of all shapes and sizes. I remember seeing planetary nebulae under the right conditions through our mobile observatory... truly beautiful! :) #observatory #mobileobservatory #amazingwonders

04.01.2022 it was really something to see the south polar ice cap on Mars in 2018 when the planet was at it's closest to Earth. Now scientists have found that there are a cluster of salty water lakes under the polar ice cap. At the base of which the temperatures are warmer, yet still a cool -70 degrees C. Researchers will be looking at drill samples to learn more about the red planet's climate and geological history. #NASA #RedPlanet #LifeonMars

02.01.2022 An Australian-led team has just released the largest set of stellar chemical data ever compiled. The 500GB of data, contains information from 600,000 stars and is the result of 342 nights of observing over 7 years, using a spectograph (HERMES), attached to the Anglo Australian Telescope (AAT) - a 3.9-metre equatorially mounted telescope located at the Siding Spring Observatory in NSW. HERMES collects light from over 300 stars at once and can separate their light into spectra.... Astronomers then use that information to work out the chemical elements within the star and gather a stellar DNA of sorts. The information allows astronomers to tell where each star has come from and determine its age and movement, providing a deeper understanding of how the Milky Way was formed and has evolved over time. #astronomy #observatory #largetelescope

02.01.2022 Have you ever wondered what our galaxy sounds like? NASA has transferred the data collected by 3 different types of telescopes into sound and created these incredible video clips. There is a beautiful symphony emanating from the core of our galaxy, while the Pillars of Creation give out some pretty eerie sounds. Click on the link below to find out more and listen to the clips. Let us know what you think.... And if you want to see some wonders from our solar system and beyond, book to join our #astronomyexperience on Monday 28 if you are in the South West. Details in our Events page. :) #astronomy #soundsfromspace #largetelescopes #observatory
