25.01.2022 "Noises Off" May 1991. The play about a play within a play. Not many photos but it looks like it was fun, and had excellent reviews!

24.01.2022 Thank you to Carolyn, another one of our wonderful TMP supporters, for donating these gorgeous vintage hats, still with their original boxes! All the hats were made in Melbourne, 2 from a long-gone milliner in the Block Arcade.

24.01.2022 The Mount Players - 'In The Name of Theatre', a new book about the history, culture and voices of amateur theatre in Victoria, by Cheryl Threadgold. - https://mailchi.mp/87149ee3e/stage-struck-september-4747898

22.01.2022 Any music people out there who would like to get involved? You still have a couple of days.

21.01.2022 "Eat Your Heart Out" April/May 1979. The colour photos were badly aged from being in an old album (remember the ones we thought were so great with the sticky pages, that then destroyed our precious photos over the years?) and have had a quick restore. Plus, check out how much a ticket cost 41 years ago!

21.01.2022 YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS SCRIPT WRITING PROJECT for ages 12-19. You haven't been able to get on stage this year, but we know you love theatre! Why not have a go at writing your own scene? 2-3 characters and 2-3 pages - see below for further info.

19.01.2022 Essendon Theatre Company, play reading and auditions: We would hope that by 2021 when this is up and running there will be mixing between regional Vic and metro Melbourne! All details below.

17.01.2022 You still have a week and a bit if you're interested!

17.01.2022 A big thank you to Kelly for donating vintage bags and clothes (some pictured) to the theatre. These sorts of props and costumes are harder to come by and it is wonderful to have such items in our collection for when we need them!

17.01.2022 A shout out to all the amazing musicians who have made the musicals what they are! While scanning old photos today, two photos from "Anything Goes" in 1996 struck a chord (no pun intended!). What the audience sees all night, and the orchestra squashed in down below, unseen. Thanks to all who have been there under the stage for TMP over the years (and at the back in their own bigger little home for Les Misérables!)

16.01.2022 We may be out of much of Lockdown by mid-Nov, but not back in the theatre. Get your theatre fix with the VDL's monologue evening!

14.01.2022 Performance is not always about the people - this is "Lily". In 1996 she played "Cheeky" in the musical "Anything Goes"

13.01.2022 Theatres are not open but you can still get a taste of performances! Click on the ad below for further details and info on how you can be in ETC's audience.

13.01.2022 Back to the trip down memory lane! "God of Carnage" Aug-Sept 2011.

12.01.2022 Boilerhouse have just released their 4th Virtual Cabaret. Get your musical fix with the first one here and find the rest on their FB page. Congratulations to all involved - just wonderful!

12.01.2022 The Mountview Theatre is also included in this unique book!

11.01.2022 Archiving The Mount Players' history: In 2022, TMP will celebrate their 50th anniversary!! In the lead up to this, (and with the help of extra time due to Lockdown) all the photos, negatives, newspaper clippings and some of the minutes and other items are being scanned. Yesterday was the negatives for The Mikado 1997. HOWEVER, we still need your help for photos, especially from shows from 2000-2011. If you have any you could share, please hunt them out for us :) Thank you! Karlana

11.01.2022 Need a laugh and a bit of Gilbert and Sullivan at the same time? This will do it!

07.01.2022 And the Zoom play readings continue Click links for further details to be in the audience.

06.01.2022 Almost 30 years ago in Dec 1990, TMP put on "Scrooge" (Musical). These photos were in their original album and only removed this year. They are very grainy and have not aged so well, but still give a lovely memory of the show (with some colour restoration).

06.01.2022 UPCOMING ZOOM PLAY: Acclaimed Indian actor and local Gisborne playwright Arjun Raina brings together a wonderful ensemble of performers, professional and amateur to tell a tale about a healing center in rural Victoria told through the very contemporary form of an online Zoom Drama. (Arun also presented the highly regarded "The Magic Hour" in 2018.) Story Synopsis: Om Shanti Holistic Healing Center, a nursing home for the aged and terminally ill, owned by health and wellness ...magnate Victoria Shaw and run by Paro, a robotic nurse. The story opens with a cancer patient Andy introducing both his own life as well as that of his room-mate, a seemingly depressed and silent Indian Man. Paro takes care of them using technologically savvy methods. Interwoven into the fabric of this care is the war of possession being fought between Victoria Shaw and her son John Shaw for the control of the trust that runs the entire business. The smooth running of the operation is jeopardized when Paro (as promised by the inventor) adapts so perfectly to her role that she transforms herself into a ‘normal’ woman. The plot thickens, convolutes and the consequent complication and its climactic resolution brings this ‘social satire’ to its comic but meaningful conclusion. Further details, including registering/booking are in link below. http://www.cicerocircle.com/straight-from-a-horses-heart

05.01.2022 Sunbury Regional News, Nov 27th, 1979. TMP was mentioned on two pages, in the 'Local Groups Get Grants' and under 'What's on' for their then upcoming production "Oh What a Lovely War". The old news and ads are fascinating reading too!

05.01.2022 It has been a very long Interval... a 2020 theatre poem by Karen Hunt.

05.01.2022 "The Mikado" 1997. It is wonderful that TMP has negatives for this and several other shows, but a bit disappointing that they are not in colour! The costumes and set would have been stunning. (Does anyone know who the photographer was who we can give credit to? No mention in the programme.)

04.01.2022 And the theatre entertainment continues...this time for the musical fans. A musical in 7 minutes? A must-see!
