25.01.2022 New deadly mushroom found in tropical Australia! This one is also capable of causing contact dermatitis. Looking forward to a distribution map of this one.

24.01.2022 Amongst the kale (and weeds) a mushroom garden appears. Good eating tonight! The garden is happy - so am I.

22.01.2022 Upped the size of DIY oyster buckets from 10 to 20L, that means more mushrooms! Winter is a great time to utilise indoor growing techniques - many species like the same temperatures we do and benefit from being inside. Also gave the website a spruce today; hope everyone is enjoying the season! https://mushroomgardener.com.au/

22.01.2022 Cape Otway always amazes, these specimens were found in dry conditions at the edge of the forest, right near the coast. Stay tuned for images of the Otway rainforest and fungi found within!

19.01.2022 We will be at the Ballarat Showgrounds this Sunday from 8am to 1pm. Come see our oyster technique and grab a hot jam doughnut!

17.01.2022 Following up on last Sunday's post, these were all located in much wetter areas of the Great Otway National Park, always amazing fungi to find in these parts! On a related note, Ballarat has been recieving a lot of wet/dry alternating conditions, which can trigger fungal fruiting - keep an eye out!

16.01.2022 Fine arts meet nature ecology. Come and celebrate the Australian landscape at Common Ground in Ballarat.

14.01.2022 You find some interesting things cleaning out your lab space. This agar jar with oyster was left to its own devices for quite a while.

09.01.2022 Another quick garden job while waiting for the sawdust spawn to myceliate. Give us a bell for any fungal or outdoor needs, your Mushroom Gardener is very versatile - like an oyster mushroom (they grow on nearly anything).

09.01.2022 This rain looks great! I know at least one person who had field mushrooms on their property after the last batch of rain we had here in Ballarat. Keep an eye out over the next few days and weeks! On another note, Mushroom Gardener now takes EFTPOS / card payments.

07.01.2022 Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! Here we have images of a mushroom garden in the works - and what a healthy mushroom garden looks like beneath the surface!

04.01.2022 Mushroom Gardener needs some hardwood! If you have a healthy hardwood tree in need of a prune let me know! In particular we are looking for: Alder, Beech, Chestnut, Elm, Maple, Oak and Walnut. If you aren't sure take a photo of some foliage and send it over! If it produces acorns send a message! You will get much more than a free tree-pruning.

04.01.2022 Mushroom and broccoli? Companion of the champignon! (Champignon actually means Agaricus bisporus; pictured here are Ulmarius/Elm oyster mushrooms ) Producing your own food feels wonderful, message us for all your local fungal needs.

04.01.2022 Quick mulch bed tidy up before and after. Healthy soil in this shaded location, full of mycelium and worms. More plants to come! ;)

01.01.2022 Happy Easter everyone! Heres a wonderful example of Aseroe rubra in its prime! The other picture features a 'wood-lover' ;) In the meantime, spending downtime producing grow@home kits and polishing gardening equipment. Give us a buzz if you need anything!
