25.01.2022 A huge welcome to the Rainbow Lions Club who today shifted their belongings from their old Den into their new home at the Oasis. We believe it is a great outcome for both the Lions and the Oasis, and we are excited by the opportunities that will arise from it.

25.01.2022 Not only is 'The Mallee' book now sold out in Rainbow, but the entire first print run has been sold! Congratulations to Adam at Ten Bag Press on the runaway success of this fantastic book. "I can't believe it to be perfectly honest" he said this morning. A second run is currently being printed, and will be available in town again in a few weeks. We will let you know when they arrive.... We thank Adam for his second donation of $300 to the Oasis, your support is greatly appreciated.

24.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who has purchased a copy of the Mallee book so far. Everyone has been very impressed with the quality of the book, make sure you check it out if you haven’t already. They are available at the Royal Cafe for $60, with $10 from each sale being donated to the Oasis by Ten Bag Press. A huge thank you to Shirley and Owen at the Royal for their help with the sales, your support is very much appreciated. Grab something to eat and drink from them while you are there to help say thanks.

22.01.2022 Put together by Adam McNicol and five of Australia’s best rural documentary photographers, 'The Mallee: A journey through north-west Victoria' is a portrait of the small communities (including Rainbow) that dot the region and the people who call them home. The book, beautifully designed by Phil Campbell, captures life in the small towns of the Mallee and on the farms that surround them. Ten Bag Press are generously donating $10 from the sale of each book to the Oasis Rainbow. We thank them for supporting our community. The book will be available from 'The Royal Cafe' from this morning onwards. A huge thank you to Shirley for helping the Oasis with the sales. While you are picking up a copy, please grab a delicious coffee or something to eat to help say thanks.

21.01.2022 Hi all, There will be a working bee this Saturday 23 January to help give the Oasis grounds a quick tidy up before the Lions Club's Australia Day Breakfast. It would be great if you could drop in from 9am. Many hands will make light work of the job before the day gets too hot. ... Any enquiries please call Ben Gosling on 0428127700. Thank you.

19.01.2022 Half of the tickets to the Beez have already been snapped up, let us know if you'd like one before they are all gone!

18.01.2022 In response to the current gathering restrictions the Oasis is closed for future bookings until further notice. Stay healthy everybody, and we look forward to seeing you all again when things get back to normal.

17.01.2022 'The Mallee' book has proven to be extremely popular. There is also now a calendar available featuring wonderful photos from the book. It's available at the Royal Cafe for $20, with $5 from each sale going to the Oasis. We thank Ten Bag Press for their support of our Mallee communities, and to Shirley and Owen for handling the sales.

16.01.2022 The Oasis has obviously been quieter than usual this year, but there has still been plenty going on behind the scenes. Belinda Eckermann and her team of helpers have been busy painting and preparing a room for the ‘Rainbow Innovation Centre’, which will be launched soon. It is looking fantastic, well done! Keep an eye out for the new Sensory Garden in the North West corner of the Oasis grounds, which is being started this week. Check out the Rainbow Innovation Centre Facebook page to learn more about this exciting initiative.

15.01.2022 Yesterday we had a visit from Adam McNicol, writer of 'The Mallee' book, and renowned photographer Andrew Chapman, who's work features in the book (including the cover shot and many of the Rainbow photos). Adam was thrilled to present the Oasis with a donation of $300, which was for the first 30 copies of the book sold in Rainbow - which occurred in just one week! He also dropped off more books, and also some 'Mallee' calendars, which retail for $20. We thank Ten Bag Press f...or their generous donation, and congratulate them on the success of their wonderful book. Adam said it has exceeded all their expectations, and he has greatly enjoyed meeting the Mallee communities that feature on its pages. Thank you once again to Shirley and Owen at the Royal for handling the book sales, drop in and see them if you'd like a copy.

15.01.2022 The Mallee book is now back in stock at the Royal Cafe. Not only would it make it the perfect Christmas gift, but your purchase also helps support the Oasis. Drop in and grab a copy from Shirley and Owen, and have something delicious to eat while you are there to help thank them for their support.

14.01.2022 Many people have asked how they can help out at the Oasis, and we’ve had an idea! The concept behind our ‘Adopt-a-Space’ initiative is quite simple. You choose an area of the Oasis that you would be interested in looking after. It may be our smallest garden bed, or something larger. You then attend to that area when you are able. With everyone looking after their own little patch, we believe it will be much easier to keep our beautiful Oasis looking its best!... For more information please email us at [email protected] or phone Ben Gosling on 0428 127 700.

13.01.2022 Hi all, I've decided that with everything going on at the moment that it will be best to postpone this gig until things get back to normal. Although it's disappointing for now, I've spoken to Khristian and he is definitely keen to make it happen at a later date so that is something we can all look forward to.... Thanks to everyone who had requested tickets and for your continued support with the Old School Sessions. Cheers, Ben Gosling

13.01.2022 The Oasis will be buzzing tomorrow night! There are a few people who unfortunately can't make it, so there will be a handful of tickets available at the door. It would be great to have a full house for our German guests, so come along for what will be a fantastic night of entertainment. Doors open at 7.30.

09.01.2022 There are still a handful of tickets left for our next Old School Session with the Beez, all the way from Berlin. Let us know if you'd like one, it will be a fantastic night.

06.01.2022 Thank you to 'The Beez' for an absolutely brilliant night at the Oasis last night for our seventh Old School Session, and of course to everyone who came along to be a part of it!

05.01.2022 "Khristian Mizzi is the best singer songwriter I’ve heard in Melbourne in 40 years. And what’s more - he’s got a voice that moves hearts." - Greg Champion More than just a few have said with enthusiasm that "Khristian Mizzi's songs take them to a place they'd forgotten in themselves". With a 'strong yet gentle voice, and an art for weaving beauty and truth into the words of each song, Khristian Mizzi reaches the hearts of his audiences with his performances. His songs elegant...ly articulate many contemporary issues Australia and the World are facing today. His award winning songs have been described as 'captivating', leaving listeners feeling they have experienced something truly special. Poetic lyrics, meandering melodies and 'a voice like a big warm hug', along with a unique picking style, Mizzi really is a complete artist and is becoming renowned for his intimate performances and thoughtful songs throughout the country. Khristian has spent most of his life dedicated to his work as a songwriter and performer and has been performing as a solo artist for over a decade. He is a genuine music lover and this is reflected in his song writing with obvious drawing of inspiration from Leonard Cohen, James Taylor, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Cat Stevens and John Martyn. Born in Moe (Gippsland), Victoria, he spent his early twenties balancing young fatherhood and life as a travelling musician. This meant days at a time spent on the highways, between country Victoria where the family was and his regular gigs in Melbourne. Khristian Mizzi is fast becoming a favourite amongst Folk Music fans throughout Australia. In 2017 he was awarded the 'Troubadour Artist' of the year award at The Newstead Live! Folk Festival. More recently, he has performed as headline act at various Regional Concert Halls and Festivals around the country where he continues to captivate capacity audiences. His songs have had an overwhelming public response which continues to grow. Khristian Mizzi is one of the most impressive newcomers I have ever come across on the Australian music scene. A beautiful voice and excellent guitar playing, and every one of his own songs is of a particularly high standard. - Andrew Pattison (Music Promoter/Festival director) This will be a night not to be missed! Limited seating available, bookings essential. BYO.

05.01.2022 It is quite inspiring watching the amazing progress of the Rainbow Innovation Centre - Supporting All Abilities.

02.01.2022 A huge thank you to Owen at the Royal Hotel for the $100 donation collected from their Friday night raffle.

02.01.2022 The 'Friends of the Oasis' initiative was very well received when it was launched just over twelve months ago. Many people took up the memberships, with all proceeds going towards the sustainability of our amazing community asset. The Rainbow Innovation Centre, the ‘Bellroom Books’ community library and the 'Old School Sessions’ concerts are just a few of the many things that are flourishing as a result. For most the membership period began on July 1 2019, which means it is n...ow up for renewal. We realise that it has been a challenging year for many, and if you are unable to continue on with your membership that is understandable. If you do wish to renew, or wish to become a member for the first time, you can see Robyn at the motel or transfer $20 directly into our bank account using the following details: BSB: 063737 Account No: 10001050 Account Name: Rainbow Progress Association *** Please be sure to use your name in the transaction description/reference *** As part of your membership you will receive email updates of the latest activities at the Oasis and be offered priority tickets to our events. (New members: please send us your email address so that you can be included). We thank you for your support.

01.01.2022 Some good news to the end the year! The Rainbow Progress Association has been successful in its 'Vic Health' funding application for an outdoor table tennis table. This will be a wonderful addition to the Oasis, and will be arriving in the new year. More details to come. Thank you to Alison Ey for her help with this application. We would also like to thank the Hindmarsh Shire for their Community Action Grant, which we will be putting towards our electricity bills at the Oasis.... This will be a huge help in what has been a very challenging year for fundraising. If you are looking for a Christmas gift idea, don't forget the fantastic 'The Mallee' book and calendar. $10 from the sale of these is generously being donated to the Oasis by Ten Bag Press. The book and calendar are now also available at the Rainbow Newsagency. We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas, and we look forward to seeing you all back at the Oasis in 2021.
