25.01.2022 Keep the 6th of December free cause the Geelong Waterfront Makers & Growers Market is back on....yay...

25.01.2022 Spring time...flower time.... Spring is a renewal time for plants to come back and do the cycle of life again. Our orchids have done well again this year and they always give me pleasure. The beautiful sweet pea are in flower along with the freesia's and their scent is just lovey.... Our raspberries are going gang busters and we hope to have some bountiful harvests from them, glad we got both the two summer and autumn varieties. Our Rocoto plants have come back as well as some of the over wintered chillies. The citrus are all setting flowers as well. We won't let the new dwarf citrus bear fruit this season, I like to leave them for 2 years before I let them fruit. It helps them develop a better root system. I hope your gardens are looking great and giving you pleasure. www.chillibellarine.com.au Enjoy your day and your gardens..... See more

23.01.2022 Spuds and shallots...... So the shallots are all up and hanging in the shed as well we dug up the last of the potatoes and they are in a dark cool place. Now we can dig over the plot, add some of our good compost and plant in our pumpkins. Some of the shallots will be dehydrated and some fried and kept, fried shallots on top of some Asian dishes are awesome.... Most of the chillies are in, with just a few to go. Nice to see the flowers on the zucchini, hope to have a great season with them again. More of the corn are popping up, we are still using last seasons kernels. So great that we can harvest and use in the off season. So overall we are happy with what we have achieved this year with the building of the new back veggie garden. The old one will hopefully in time go into a hydroponic garden for growing the chillies...Stay tuned wwwchillibellarine.com.au Enjoy your day and your gardens..... See more

23.01.2022 Flatty tails, chips and salad on this Melbourne Cup day..... did anyone win??...

21.01.2022 New Season..... Is it Spring or has it gone back to Winter??? That is the question! Wow what a wintry week we have had here in Victoria.... Come on Mother Nature, we would like our Spring season back on track! Thank goodness for the greenhouse to help in keeping our seedlings warm. Still with this arctic blast that we have had, the veggies I have planted are doing okay. The parsley has self set in the old chook run, and it looks fabulous. I am going to pick it and dry it in the oven. Now that the new veggie box is completed we are looking at making a fernery next to the green house where the pond is. And eventually the greenhouse will be moved and a bbq area will be built in it's place. So how is your season thus far?? For any orders please visit our website at: www.chillibellarine.com.au We have all your chilli needs covered. Enjoy your day and your gardens..... See more

21.01.2022 Bees...... It is rather sad that the bee hive we have had here for a year has gone. Craig the bee keeper collected them last night and we were grateful to them for letting us have the hive here. We are in talks with a local beekeeper to have one of their hives here in a few weeks.... Bees are vital for a healthy environment, which is why we wanted to have them here. They are needed for food pollination world wide and they are just simply beautiful and fascinating little insects. More than ever before, we need to recognize the importance of having bees for nature and for our lives, BUT more importantly we need to ensure they don't just survive but thrive. Fathers day is fast approaching and we have contact less pick up options for you, plus postage deals. PM for details www.chillibellarine.com.au Enjoy your day and your gardens..... See more

20.01.2022 You can use our sweet chilli sauces as a dip mixed in cream cheese... This is our Rocoto Plum sweet chilli sauce...

19.01.2022 All set up here at the Drysdale Community Market.... come and say gday!.....

14.01.2022 Good day for cleaning the tent to be ready for the #DrysdaleCommunityMarket on Sunday 15th November.....

12.01.2022 Composting..... I wish more people would compost and use it in their gardens. It is so easy, and so beneficial for the soil and plants. Plus its all natural and organic, can't beat it!... With the emptying of the raised beds in the old veggie garden we have made a new bed at the top of the orchard and have put in some native trees and shrubs to replace what we pulled up in the native garden. The birds and the bees will be happy with this. With the warmer weather I have started to put the seedlings in the greenhouse during the day and gee how they have come on! The beans had just started and then by the afternoon were completely up! We have some New Holland native birds make a nest in our front fernery and have two little babies, they don't like us going in to water there either! We are still selling our chilli products on line or pick up here at The Patch. www.chillibellarine.com.au Enjoy your day and your gardens...... See more

11.01.2022 Breakfast of champions..... freshly scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, candied Jalapeños with our Hot chilli salt....

09.01.2022 Markets to start up.....YAY We have missed doing the markets along with seeing and speaking with other traders and especially our customers. The first being the Drysdale Community Market 15th of November and then the Geelong Waterfront Makers & Growers Market on the 6th of December. We have planted up our pumpkins, trying some new varieties, white and green striped Cushaw's and a Winter luxury pie (should be interseting)!... Have used up a lot of our compost so I went to see our green grocer for some cauliflower and cabbage leaves. A layer of green, a layer of shredded paper and then a layer of old pea straw, will leave for a week then Stephen will dig it over. I just love making good quality beneficial compost for our gardens, it makes such a difference. Cooking and more cooking has been done, for orders and the markets. So come down to the markets and say g'day. www.chillibellarine.com.au Enjoy your day and your gardens..... See more

07.01.2022 Doing a small test batch of smoked chilli tomato sauce... Stay tuned....

07.01.2022 New pathway...... So the new pathway has been finished, that goes to the chooks run and veggie garden, with another from the pergola to the veggie garden to do. Some planting was done with some beetroot, silver beet and lettuce. Today some carrots and maybe some beans. I am to sow some cucumbers and leave these in the greenhouse for a while.... I am taking out the seedlings and placing them in the green house during the day and back into the grow tent of a night. Gee some work has been done over these few months! We wanted the veggie box to be finished for a special birthday that is coming up in October, but with this damn virus looks like it won't happen. Disappointing.... C'est la vie.... It will be lovely to see our food growing from our kitchen anyway! Enjoy your day and your gardens..... See more

06.01.2022 Prepping soil...... So we have prepped and readied the soil for the Roma tomatoes, zucchinis and corn with our compost, some aged chicken manure and then covered with pea straw. Beaut day yesterday for working in the gardens. The round tank bed also got dug over, compost added ready to be planted with kohlrabi and more lettuce.... We planted 2 Bolivian Rocoto's as well, these can get quite large and I will stuff them with mince like a capsicum. Today we are going to start with the new pathway, then we can plant up the rest of the dwarf citrus. The work we put in now will be worth it later on. Happy Fathers Day to all the dad's especially ours xx Enjoy your day and your gardens...... See more

05.01.2022 Home grown strawberries with waffles and yoghurt....

05.01.2022 Wow what a massive day... Sold out of 5 products and Stephen even went home for more!... A massive thank you to our loyal customers who came and said g’day and for supporting a small artisan business....

03.01.2022 Netting is on...... Well the back garden veggie box has now reached a point where it is almost DONE! Only some more stones to go down. While the sun shone on the weekend we finally got the netting on, we were to have family come and help us but with the no visitors rule, we had no choice but to do it our selves. It took all day but once it was finished we were really pleased with ourselves! Stephen is to make a new pathway to the chook side and also dig up some of the grass i...n front for the veggie box for the citrus pots. We have also started to get the soil aerated and adding plenty of compost in the side next to the potatoes, ready for the Roma tomatoes and zucchini plants to go in. The purple asparagus has started to go as well as the others we planted so really Spring has sprung! Enjoy your day and your gardens....... See more

02.01.2022 Ooohhh looky look..... flowers on the tomatoes.....

01.01.2022 Cooking and more cooking.... It has been a really busy week here at The Patch. With selling out of 5 our products last week at the Drysdale Market. It took us by surprise to how busy we were! So thanks to the locals coming out to support us and others at the market. We really enjoyed the day.... So the gardens are coming on with flowers on the capsicums, zucchinis and the tomatoes. The carrots have taken off as well as the lettuce and beans. I have some decent size beetroot as well, love these roasted. Got my first golden raspberry as well, it is a Autumn fruiting variety but some develop early. Raspberries are my favourite berry. Stephen is happy his peas have flowers too! Look forward to the next market at the Geelong Waterfront Makers & Growers Market on December 6th. www.chillibellarine.com.au Enjoy your day and your gardens..... See more
