04.01.2022 Exercising with knee osteoarthritis So what is osteoarthrisis? It is essentially the loss of cartilage, in this case in the knee, which can cause pain and stiffness. How to do we manage our osteoarthritis? ... Today Ash and Dave talk us through how weight loss and building strength in our quadricep muscles are important factors in managing our knee osteoarthritis. We understand that when something is painful our first reaction is to avoid aggrivating this pain further. However, for this condition the knee needs to be loaded during exercise for any benefits to be achieved. Our knee joint is a very durable area and we can support it by incorporating weight-based exercises into our management program. Check out the video for some modified exercises that you can do both at the gym and at home! 01.01.2022 Taping for hematoma Check out this weeks educational video where Ash shows us how we can tape a hematoma, or bruising, on the body. By applying tape to the swollen or bruised area it acts to lift the top layer of the skin, and therefore helping fluid to drain from the area. It also helps with muscle activation, which in turn moves fluid from the area. This means any swelling and subsequent bruising is reduced and the healing process is sped up. ... We love being able to provide such a personalised experience in each 1 hour class, really working with our clients to achieve their goals. We have been blown away by the development in our regulars' strength and skills every class. They work hard each week on the reformer doing Pilates exercises and some of our participants get the chance to incorporate some w...eight and resistance training into their session. Whilst these exercises on the functional frame aren't a general inclusion in Ash's Pilates classes, we can't say no when our patients want to be challenged by something new.
