The team here at ThermoChill have some handy tips to improve your heaters efficiency, and ultimately save on your next gas bill! 1. Know how to use your thermostat- ... Whilst its very tempting to get home on those chilly days and just crank the thermostat up high, you should stick a jumper on and wait for the house to heat up! Try to set the thermostat between 18C and 22C . Even one or two degrees higher can increase your gas bill . Another good option is to use programmable thermostat. The timer will switch the ducted heating on before you get up in the morning, then switch itself off when youve left for work and school, and most importantly on those chilly afternoons it will warm up the house before you open the front door!!!! Dress for the weather- Wear warm clothes; A simple but effective way to further keep your thermostat temperature down. 3. Maximise the heated area- Close doors to areas of your home that arent being used. If you have spare bedrooms that are no longer being you used you should consider closing them up That way the airflow will pressurize back to the open areas of the house, warming it up quicker! 4. Keep the heat in- Check your window seals, making sure that no sneaky draughts are coming in. Close those blinds! Around 10% of your heating load can escape through unprotected glass 5. Get you heater serviced regularly- Its important to get your heater serviced regularly to make sure it is running as efficiently and SAFELY as possible. Without service, there is risk of fire from dust build up, or a deadly carbon monoxide leak! Energy Safe Victoria and the Victorian Building Authority recommend gas ducted heating service every 2 years; this includes all space heaters wall furnaces, decorative log fires and central heating units.
