23.01.2022 Creating Safe spaces in Tarot - As I move towards the end of this project, with only a handful of cards left to shoot, I’ve learned a lot about communication and the facilitation of an art project, the facilitation of a project bigger than me that includes a whole community. 18.01.2022 Ace of Swords: If you were talking to your younger self, what would you tell yourself about the Ace of Swords that you know now? There’s a time for cutting yourself out of things. There’s a time to make that move. Thinking about feeling trapped or stuck, you have within you the inspiration to change something. The inspiration and the ability to discern. Life is confusing, but seemed really when I was young. It was hard to figure out, knowing something wasn’t working for me bu...t not knowing what else to do. So having that energy of.. Making something happen isn’t the words I want the energy of cutting away the things that are superfluous. Focusing that energy, that’s always been the challenge and it was a larger problem when I was younger. I would get interested in a lot of different things, and I would scatter my energy around. There were certain aspects of myself that were still there, the language, the verbal acuity. I work with words, I’m a writer, these things have always been there, I feel like it’s more distilled now. When I was younger it felt a lot more scattered. Take a few more risks. That sounds weird but there are things I thought about doing and who knows where a risk will lead you. 07.01.2022 think Queer Tarot is important because we don’t see Queer people represented much, and to have Tarot in a way we can connect with it is interesting, and I like the idea that this [Tarot Deck] is profiling real life people who are we and what do we have to say. I chose Justice / Intersection, because I am a Queer disabled person and I think about intersectionality and justice. Allot of my work in LGBTIQA disability rights is at the intersections of those two things, seeking... a more just world, so it felt like the card for me. [To my younger self] I would say: You will get proud, that you will love those parts of yourself, that you think you could ever feel proud of, or that someone would ever love. You will be surrounded by and amazing community, have a beautiful partner and be really valued for all that you are. I never really heard anyone saying that to me as a young queer disabled person. I hope my voice can cut through all the negative messages that someone might be hearing about who they are. You can get proud, and you’re not the one who made you feel ashamed. You get proud by practicing Is a title of a poem by LauraHershey, and for anyone who has been marginalised, it takes practice to get proud. Audio Transcription from interview. I spent LOTS of time outside in remote areas, lakes and forests. When you're alone a lot, cooking and messing around with hair dye is just some of the things I've turned to entertain myself - with mixed results!... I would love to say Start at the Ace and work your way through to the Ten and tell a clean, lovely story with a perfect beginning, middle, and end but that isn’t possible. Instead, address the Cups as a mode of healing I encourage you to lay out Ace through Ten in order and just sit with them.

03.01.2022 Queer Tarot- Judgement: Judgement resonates with myself and the community I am a part of because our voices are being amplified, the Judgement has turned. I’m part of the community that doesn’t often get recognised, I’m part of the community that is often forgotten about, unfortunately because of that allot of trauma get’s passed through. So I guess the community is suffering allot of hurt, and as this community grows stronger there won’t be any need for that. Only look in...to the past for strength, only look into the past for guidance. Don’t look at the past for the horrific injustices that have happened towards myself, community, mob, culture, all of it and to keep going. Mistakes need to be made in order to learn from them. The mistake of forgetting us has gone on too long, and it’s time to rectify it. chose to shoot Judgement, as our generation is under immense pressure with allot of external judgement. Judgement from those who aren’t part of my community, those that have access to money, those that have access to family support, those that have access to financial support, those that have access to a stable home, health care, or anyone who doesn’t have to worry just walking down the street thinking that anything could happen. #queer #queertarot #queertarotreadersofinstagram #lgbtqia #queertarotreader #gaytarot
