25.01.2022 FRV was called to Mount Martha to assist CFA (Country Fire Authority), Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria and the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard at a multiag...ency rescue on Saturday, after an injured man became trapped down a steep embankment at ‘The Pillars’. FRV’s High Angle Rescue Technicians from Dandenong Fire Station (FS87) used specialist equipment and ropes to bring him to safety. #WeWorkAsOne #fireandrescue Dromana Fire Brigade Mt Martha Fire Brigade
25.01.2022 Today marks the beginning of #FireActionWeek2020. From today until Sunday, CFA and our emergency services colleagues are focussing on getting Victorians better ...prepared for fire season. So we are asking everyone, what are you doing to prepare? Start now by: Preparing your property and clean up green waste and debris Make a bushfire plan for yourself and your loved ones Keeping an eye out for our Fire Safety Essentials workshops in the coming weeks
25.01.2022 Today we mark one year since the start of the devastating bushfires which deeply affected Victorian communities across the state. On 21 November, 2019 the first... ‘code red’ fire danger rating in almost a decade was declared in the Mallee and Northern Country, and dry lightning strikes in East Gippsland that started three fires which grew to a widespread bushfire disaster that burned for months. Today we reflect on the devastation and challenges that followed 21 November and the incredible support from all emergency services who came together to aid the communities impacted by the unprecedented fire season. 18.01.2022 Sorrento SES is one of the 103 VICSES units that look after Road Crash Rescue in the Victorian community. While we don’t get a lot of crashes on the southern pe...ninsula, the risk increases with more traffic visiting holiday homes, the beaches, and our many tourist attractions. A lot of people who have spent a lot of time in lock down, and not behind the wheel. There’s no rush to get where you're going. Please take extra care on the roads and don’t become a statistic, and miss Christmas with your family. Let us learn our skills in training and not on the real thing. #roadtozero #roadtraumavic #vicses
17.01.2022 Today, we remember the men and women who selflessly gave their lives serving for our country, as well as those who returned and continue to serve their communities. Lest we forget.

16.01.2022 We posted this a few weeks back, but with Schoolies on the horizon, this seems more appropriate than ever. No-one is invincible behind the wheel of a car. One m...oment of inattention is all it can take to make a mistake that can't be undone. Corey Hammond lost his life when his car veered off the road and crashed into trees on Phillip Island Road in the early hours of March 25, 2017. He was speeding, intoxicated, and on his phone. Two years on and still dealing with the heartbreak, Corey’s mum and dad, friends, and the police who were at the scene speak about how Corey’s decisions have left them devastated. Every decision made behind the wheel of a car has a consequence. Who would be left behind to deal with the consequences of your decisions? 14 people have lost their lives on Frankston & Mornington Peninsula roads in 2020. Please drive safely. https://bddy.me/3maMrwD
16.01.2022 As we get ready to watch the AFL Grand final, NRL Grand Final or the Cox plate over the weekend. For many, lighting the BBQ is a Grand final tradition, BUT.. before starting up and cooking our favourite foods. We need to ensure that our barbecues are checked and ready for safe use. Here are some handy tips for checking to ensure your Gas Barbecue is ready for the big day. - check to see if the cylinder is damaged. - check the hose to make sure it is not damaged or leaking.... - spray the hose and regulator connections with soapy water - if soap bubbles appear, you'll know that gas is escaping. This means you'll need to either tighten the connections or replace your hose. Check that your barbecue is clean. Too much fat or residue can catch fire. If a fire occurs, don’t try to extinguish the flames if it is not safe to do so. Call Triple Zero and turn off the gas at the meter or cylinder, but only if you can do so safely. Use your barbecue in a clear space. Never use it indoors or in a confined area and ensure there is adequate clearance from walls, fences, and other property Cook with barbecue utensils and wear an apron to protect yourself from hot fat Do not use barbecues in windy conditions as the burners may blow out, risking a gas leak. We hope that everyone has a safe and enjoyable weekend. If the team you support is playing we hope they win for you. For the ones who’s team haven’t made it. We hope you enjoy the game.
15.01.2022 It’s been a tough few months here in Victoria, especially in Melbourne and if any year needs some early Christmas cheer, it really is 2020! So as our little wa...y spread some early Christmas cheer, we got together with our friends at FRV, VicPol, AV, SES, & FFMV. We work as one, and we make flashy light Christmas videos as one! We hope you all enjoy our video, have a smile and then have yourselves a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS! Starring: CFA (Country Fire Authority), Fire Rescue Victoria, Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, Victoria State Emergency Service and Forest Fire Management Victoria. Created by CFA Member Adam Kamenek. A special thanks to Simon VDV, FRV Station 84 (B shift), South Warrandyte CFA as well as all the other emergency service members that came along (COVID safe of course) and helped film on the night. 12.01.2022 Last night, we experienced a high volume of calls for assistance from non-urgent patients. All critically unwell Victorians received timely care. However there... were longer wait times than usual for patients not suffering a life threatening illness. Many non-urgent patients were provided care over the phone by our experienced nurses and paramedics through our secondary triage service. Our priority is to ensure we have adequate resources for Code 1 patients who require a lights and sirens urgent response. These patients are categorised as the sickest Victorians who require urgent lifesaving care. This is a timely reminder to all Victorians to stay on top of their health this summer as the weather warms up and many of us re-emerge from Stage 3 and 4 restrictions. We would like to take this opportunity to remind the community that Nurse on Call (1300 60 60 24) is available 24/7 free of charge to all Victorians who do not require emergency care. We also encourage the community to check in with their GP and local pharmacist to ensure their medications are up to date. We thank the community who heard and shared our messages and helped us resolve this matter overnight.
07.01.2022 We are extremely lucky to have such a great community that support us. Woolworths Rye have kindly donated a Christmas hamper to our brigade. The team at Rye Woolworths are one of our many great supporters. From donating food for our community events or allowing us to use their premises for specialty training. We are lucky to have such a great partnership. ... Without our wonderful community, we wouldn’t be able too do what we do. The generosity and support is always overwhelming. From the members of The Rye Fire Brigade thank you very much Rye Woollies. Pictured below (left to right) Ashley (Manager), Paul (First Lieutenant), Zoe (Staff Member).
