07.01.2022 Local tourism and travel is wonderful for our region and Australia as a whole. I was angered and frustrated today to see that the first campers for the season had enjoyed our beautiful Murray River in Torrumbarry and had cleaned their site somewhat but this rubbish and plenty more was left behind. We can’t point the finger at the tourists as they have yet to come so it saddens me that that these would be local folk trashing their own backyard. I feel without international tr...avel there will be unprecedented opportunity to enjoy our own country and it’s time for each of us to take personal responsibility, teach our children and each other to respect the environments we travel in otherwise these beautiful places we love to visit will be ruined and wildlife harmed with no one to blame but our fellow Australians. I have walked through the bush along the river regularly since March, picking up two or three pieces of rubbish each time, if you do the math that’s a lot of rubbish and we’ve had no campers. What will this area and the rest of the country look like when isolation is lifted, the summer holidays arrive and thousands of people are travelling around the country? Blaming councils and Parks management doesn’t cut it for me, for we each should be responsible for properly deposing of our own rubbish. This isn’t finger pointing, its stating the obvious, it’s a call to action. I hope everyone reading this accepts their responsibility and shares this post. Unhelpful comments will be deleted. #cleanupAustralia
