05.01.2022 The Power of Meditation Context: a colleague at work asked me how I was going in the COVID crisis, how I was coping? My response was a simple one: no problem, how are you? Then I got to thinking about how and why I was so unaffected while most people I know were so stressed out by lockdown and the ever-unfolding global events snowballing around us. I wrote the following bullets to better understand and share my experience: 1. I meditate every single day, and never miss... 2. Meditation leads to a reduction in stress and compulsive thinking as it deepens the connection with our core consciousness, our inner being, which is already solid in all of us 3. All stress, anxiety and depression exist (and thrives) in the outer layers of self, the conditioned patterns of thinking and behaviours as we get caught up in none-acceptance of the present moment and whatever it may contain (even COVID) 4. Resisting, judging and labelling things to be this way or that way is what we do next to control the environment we are in and any given situation or person we are faced with 5. This leads to drama on top of drama, and a cycle of stress and stress related dependencies that continue to grow as we look to comfort ourselves through relentless stress conditions 6. Until we stop, sit in the stillness, and dissolve the ever-increasing stress in our lives. In doing this we are addressing the cause of our discomfort and not endlessly relieving symptoms 7. When we sit every day, having established a new daily routine, over time we dissolve more and more stress from the body and its nervous system and even deep seated mental and emotional stress decades old can be released in this way 8. And so deeper and deeper we go to the core, our core consciousness, where all things are well, and all things are one.
03.01.2022 Wakey-wakey There is you, ok, and there is me, and we know this to be true. You can see it when you look in the mirror, and you can feel it when you fall and hurt yourself. And then there is the awareness of you and the fall. The knowing, the knowing awareness of how you are feeling, of what you are constantly thinking, and of what emotional state is currently taking you over at any one point in time.... This awareness is the primary part of you and the primary part of all of us on the planet. It’s the human duality we all face. So why not get to know it better and not avoid it, not to fear it, or fill your life with busyness to perhaps unconsciously avoid the internal. It’s the part of you that has had your back for the whole journey. It’s the part of you that picks up on stuff that is beyond the range of the physical brain to compute. Like when you are driving a fast car and register incoming that totally surprises you and your ability to calculate all the variables. Or when you turn to see who it is that’s staring at you only to see them abruptly turn away in recognition of your awareness. Your awareness also happens to be the very part of you that survives the human transition from physical form back to none physical form that in most cultures around the world we call death. Do we not, at the very least, have some obligation to explore that possibility? That there is no death actually, only ever a continuous cycle of transition. And how could there be when these two states of existence clearly coexist and are so prevalent in our shared experience. What if, only a transition of consciousness ever occurs. That’s to say, that the energy we truly are at a molecular level can never be destroyed and only ever change its form. Eternal life anyone? : )
