25.01.2022 How could I resist this? And just think, in a few short years he or she will be finishing school and looking for somewhere to celebrate Leavers Week! So yes, we do accept leavers, but we have some pretty firm rules. The group that was booked in has shifted their dates, which means that we now have availability from the 27th November until the 5th December. So if you know of some respectful, responsible kids who are looking for a beautiful house where they can spend a peaceful and happy time with their friends at the end of their schooling, then get them to contact us. Our kids were leavers once, and we believe in giving good kids a fair go.

23.01.2022 We've been a bit quiet recently after a really busy summer, and we've put our spare time to good use, revamping the kitchen, pimping up the laundry room, covering in the back area by the games room, and creating a fab secure dog run so that your furry friends can feel secure and sheltered when you go out without them!

07.01.2022 We're a bit soppy about the beautiful birds that are so abundant on the farm. This little fellow visits every day and does the rounds of his favourite vantage points. We call him our little sentinel.

04.01.2022 Open Studios has been on in the area, and it's such a treat being able to visit local artists in their studios. Amidst all the creativity and beauty, I visited the wonderful Patricia Negus, who has enchanted us over the years with her perfect nature paintings. It's her last year, so a bit of a sad milestone. But the biggest treat was Pat showing me the nest outside her window with a white breasted robin chick. I managed to snag this pic before the indignant parents came to shoo me off!

04.01.2022 Look up your best pickling recipes. The olive trees have been bounteous this year and we have so much big juicy fruit! Bring a bucket and pick some next time you're here. At their best between March and May, but the pesky birds will be getting to them soon, so be quick!

04.01.2022 Our beautiful house is a bit sad and empty during this Covid19 crisis and its travel restrictions. Such a shame as you would know how perfect it is for social distancing! We miss all our lovely regulars. Can't wait to get cranking again! In the meantime we'll be using all the spare time to achieve some little jobs around the place so that when you come back you may see a few improvements. See you soon!

03.01.2022 Our local kangaroos don't quite get the social distancing thing, but here on the farm we do! We're getting a few cancellations from our overseas guests, as is to be expected. Sad for them and sad for us. But our 'locals' from Perth aren't worried about heading down to the sanctuary of The Straw House and enjoying the freedom and purity of the country air! Please be assured that we are taking it very seriously. Steam cleaning the soft furnishings between guests just enhances t...he usual meticulous cleaning that is our norm. Please consider a visit during these apocalyptic times. We haven't run out of toilet paper yet, but can't get hold of any hand sanitiser so you may need to bring your own.
