25.01.2022 Lots of special moments this week, including this one from @benfavero! A year ago Ben had major knee reconstruction surgery after doing his ACL in a game of soccer and yesterday he beat his last personal best by 10kg with more in the tank. We all know the physical hurdles that come from injury, but there are a lot of mental hurdles that also need to be addressed along the way that are often harder than the physical rehab process itself. Self-doubt and comparison are two main factors that play into the mind and It was an awesome moment to see Ben under the bar with such confidence after moving through these feelings and thoughts. Congrats, Ben! Everyone who has known you through this process is incredibly proud.

25.01.2022 Feature Friday - Faces of TSS Name: Emily Wells @theemilygram Age: 28 Time spent lifting: Almost 4 years ... Goals: Unassisted pull ups, and when corona is Norona- KOKODA! Hobbies outside of lifting: Cooking, art, and listening to true crime podcasts! Favourite food: CHEESE (is beer a food group, though?) Favourite music to listen to whilst lifting: throwback rock, EDM (but when it was good, circa 2005-2015) or just blasting The Wombats on repeat. Favourite thing about powerlifting: Not only has this sport allowed me to meet some BLOODY GREAT PEOPLE, it has been something I have shown up for, taught me to be more resilient and more self-assured. Next meet: 26th September- Ted Rutledge Memorial Cup at TSS : @themattmusgrave

23.01.2022 As 2020 wraps up we wanted to say a big Merry Christmas and also a HUGE thank you to those who have supported us for the past year. We started off with fires and then closed for over two months from the global pandemic, both of which would have been much more difficult if it weren't for the flexibility, support, and love from all of our members. We hope you all have some time to rest and recoup after the year that was 2020 and we are already looking forward to welcoming yo...u all back in 2021 for more laughs and heavy lifting! - Team TSS

We have now raised over $5000 for @cysticfibrosisact with all of our incredible teams and it’s set to rise over the weekend with TSS donating the dollar amount of the highest weight pulled! If you are interested in donating to support a team, you can head to the link below or alternatively come down on the day! Lifting will start from 10:15am. https://www.mycause.com.au//cysticfibrosisacttss-tandemdea# Deadlifters, keep an eye on your emails as the groups will be sent out in the next 24 hours!

22.01.2022 Feature Friday - Faces of TSS Name: Callum Rush Age: 29 Time spent lifting: powerlifting for 1 year. ... Goals: squat 220, bench 150kg, deadlift 250kg. Mostly I want to keep improving my form and enjoying my training. Hobbies outside of lifting: Gardening, snowboarding, gaming, and traveling when there is no COVID. Favourite music to listen to whilst lifting: Mostly metal, Rammstein, The HU, Slipknot and Motorhead Favourite thing about powerlifting: whilst it is great seeing my lifts progress, my favourite thing about powerlifting are the people within the community. In both training and at meets, people are incredibly positive and encouraging. It does not matter if you are going for a PR that bends the bar or not, people are genuinely excited for you. Next meet: March 2021 See more

22.01.2022 A huge PB for Alex Hughes to round out his testing last weekend! Alex pulled 220kg, squatted 192.5kg, and benched 110kg to add a huge 64.5kg to his last total. An incredibly hard worker who is now back into some high volume getting ready for our December competition!

22.01.2022 Our first competition of the year is in just over a week and we are SO excited to get everyone back onto the platform. Unfortunately with the restrictions we are unable to have spectators, but will be streaming it on this Facebook page so you can all watch from home! TSS has 8/25 competitors taking to the platform in September. Erin Thorne will be heading into her second PA competition after March was cancelled. So far Erin has already hit a squat PB in training and has al...so matched her best competition deadlift. She is in for an awesome day! Emily Wells is set for a cracker of a day! Emily is a nurse and has been managing shift work incredibly well throughout this prep and has already scored herself a bench PB! Robert Mcintosh will be doing his very first competition after doing our beginner course for 12 weeks. Robert has been working really hard on his technique and is ready to showcase it on the platform. David Lu will also be doing his first competition. David has been hitting some awesome numbers in training already and will absolutely smash it on the day. Callum Rush is heading into September with a whole bunch of excitement after being in the same boat as Erin with the March comp. His lifts are looking the best they ever have and he is hunting down a 200kg squat. Matt Hill has crushed both his squat and deadlift single PBs for doubles in prep and will be joining Callum in the 200kg third attempt territory. Patrick Koucheravy is absolutely killing his training at the moment and is looking forward to pulling it all together. Again, another one of our members hunting down the 200kg squat! And last but not least, Paul Sweeney is coming in hot for his first competition competing in bench only! Paul's bench is looking ready to go and this is his first step in competing before heading into December! Lets go #TSSTeam See more

21.01.2022 And wrapping up our deadlift highlights are these 6 incredible lifts! Lauren joined us 13 weeks ago after a bit of a break from strength training. She had done it for 3 years and after just 12 weeks on a program she managed to beat both her squat and deadlift personal bests! Here she is lifting 92.5kg for 2.5kg PB. Lindsay smashing out a 110kg deadlift! He managed to go on and lift 120kg which was even better than this one. He is back with us next week but for two nights whic...h we can expect him to make some unreal progress with. Zoe absolutely smashing an 82.5kg deadlift. Zoe is a part of our Strong Mum's group and trains once a week. She also went on to bench 40kg and squat 70kg after a break from lifting. Rory was busy this term managing both lifting and football and still managed to get a 12.5kg PB in his deadlifts! He ended the day with 132.5kg and is the second tallest person at TSS! Chloe smoked a 140kg deadlift which was a 15kg PB! An awesome result which of course is reflected by the effort she puts in each week. Last but not least we have the awesome Imo! Imogen managed a 5kg PB, but better yet managed to do it without the usual form breakdown that we had seen earlier in the course! We are so happy to see everyone come back from COVID with a reginited love for barbell training. We weren't expecting so many personal bests to be broken with the break, but were so incredibly stoked to see it happen.

20.01.2022 Feature Friday - Faces of TSS Name: Natalie Mason Age: 24... Goals: Be consistently proud of what my body can do! And one day bench my body weight Hobbies outside lifting: hanging with pals and accumulating indoor plants Favourite food: pasta (it makes you faster) Favourite music to listen to whilst lifting: Anything annoyingly upbeat and loud! Favourite thing about powerlifting: Being able to constantly change and alter the baseline of what my body is able to achieve; and the support around me in the community to encourage that growth. Next meet: June 2021!

19.01.2022 A huge congrats to three of our members for smashing their testing this past weekend in the lead up to our December meet! First up we had Maya who managed a pb for all three lifts! Maya squatted 135kg for a 15kg gain, benched 50kg for a 2.5kg gain and deadlifted a massive 140kg for a 7.5kg gain on her last testing in March. Maya is such an incredibly hard worker and we can’t wait to see her hit the platform in December after March was called off. #TSSTeam

19.01.2022 A year ago today the world lost a special person called Ted Rutledge. Ted was an incredibly kind person, a great lifter (shown here squatting a huge 172.5kg), and a very cherished member of The Strength Syndicate. Everyone who got the opportunity to chat to him was better for it and we miss him dearly at TSS.

19.01.2022 How we are feeling know our first competition of the year is only 4 DAYS AWAY! It has been 9 long months since we last held a meet and we have been itching to get everyone back onto the platform.

17.01.2022 Coach Alex Hughes also had an incredible day out on the platform with 197/110/225, adding a huge 75kg to his last competition total! Alex has been working incredibly hard for the 200kg squat which he narrowly missed on the day after going for a third at 203kg, but we have no doubt that in 2021 we see him go well above. He has such a bright future as both a coach and a lifter and we are so fortunate to him be a big part of the #TSSTeam!

16.01.2022 Last night we wrapped up our biggest testing week yet at TSS with 45 people across 4 days! The support was incredible and we are always so grateful to be able to provide this space for people to lift and connect. A huge congratulations to everyone involved, including our passionate coaches.

15.01.2022 First comp this year done and dusted. A huge, huge congratulations to all of the competitors and thank you to our incredible volunteers. The energy was amazing today even with no spectators and a great display of sportsmanship the wonderful Ted Rutledge would be proud of.

15.01.2022 The moment you know you got the lift.

15.01.2022 A few weeks ago we also had Kerri test in preparation for our TSS End of Year Cup in December! She added a huge 31kg to her total and is in an awesome spot to increase that yet again in 16 weeks. She squatted 115kg for a 15kg PB, benched 55kg for an 8kg PB, and deadlifted (shown) 120kg for an 8kg PB! Kerri has put in so much effort since she first contacted and started training with us us just over a year ago. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for her on so many levels.

14.01.2022 What a way to end the year! Thank you to everyone who participated, fundraised, donated, volunteered, and cheered today for our first charity event! We have managed to raise a HUGE $8206 for @cysticfibrosisact from today’s event and are over the freakin’ moon. #TSSTeam

14.01.2022 Coach Erin Thorne had an awesome day on the platform last Saturday adding a huge 26kg to her last competition total! Erin went 8/9 squatting 100kg (shown), benching 67kg, and deadlifting a huge 120kg! Erin worked so incredibly hard all prep managing her studies and work and it was so good to see her have such a great result on meet day. Congrats Erin!

13.01.2022 A reminder to sign up for the Cystic Fibrosis ACT x The Strength Syndicate tandem deadlift comp - we have limited entries (due to COVID restrictions) and half of the spots are already taken! Here are some of the FAQ we have been asked regarding the event 1. Do I have to be a member of TSS or a certain federation? Absolutely not. As this is a charity event, it is open to ALL members of the public. ... 2. Are there rules around who I can enter with? There are no rules surrounding who you can tandem deadlift with - we recommend just finding someone who is a similar height though 3. Can I use a belt? Of course! You can use any equipment you usually lift with 4. Can someone sponsor me? Yes! We are working the logistics on this one still, however if you have family members or work friends who would like to sponsor you this is an absolute possibility! 5. What is TSS contributing? TSS will be matching the highest pull in kgs in the dollar amount! All proceeds will be going to CFACT 6. What if I have never deadlifted before? We will be holding a workshop for this reason on Nov 28th! Come along and have some fun SIGN UP ON OUR WEBSITE!

12.01.2022 A huge achievement for both Paul and coach Tom Schwartz! The goal of a coach should be for you to not ‘need’ them, which sounds counterintuitive, but is a huge sign of an incredible coach who is passionate about empowering their clients.

12.01.2022 CFACT x TSS - TANDEM DEADLIFT CHARITY EVENT

11.01.2022 Some incredible results from the weekend for our #TSSTeam, including this one from Maya at her first comp! She has come an incredible way since starting with us just over a year and a half ago and has a very big future in powerlifting! Well done, Maya!

06.01.2022 We have had some incredible squatting going on at TSS over the past month and we are only just getting started before our last comp of the year and testing for a lot of our members! Pat squatting a huge 240kg, just 1kg off the National Record for his weight and age group. Pat will be competing in Dec and will be absolutely ready to put his name on it. @bylinkyboy (shown) Maya squatting 110kg for 6 reps with ease. This will be Maya's first official competition in December ...after COVID put a hold on the platform. She will be gunning for a huge 150kg squat. @edgeofaknifexvx Ellyce who trains in our 12 week beginner course has been making some awesome progress from both a strength and technical standpoint! When Ellyce started with us she hadn't done barbell training before and she has been working hard to create an awesome base for testing in a few weeks. @aleeycss Owner Schae squatting 160kg for a triple. This is 3kg under her best 1RM and she has her eyes on adding a 170kg squat to 2020. @beyonschae Exciting times ahead for the rest of 2020!

05.01.2022 We had an absolute ball at our tandem deadlift comp and raised $9000 for Cystic Fibrosis ACT whilst we were at it! Powerlifting is an incredible sport and it was amazing to be able to connect to others in the community and support a local organisation. We will no doubt be partaking in another tandem event this year and want to hear who and what you want to support. Let us know below!

04.01.2022 7 weeks out till our December comp and last meet of the year! There are lots of first timers competing, we wanted to compile out three biggest tips for your very first meet. 1. Don't cut weight! Unless you are gunning for some National records at your first meet, go in and just enjoy the experience without the stress of making a particular weight class.... 2. Make sure to have someone looking after you on the day, preferably with a bit of experience! It is incredibly helpful to have someone with you on the day running your attempt cards, timing your warm ups, and being an objective eye with attempt selections. If you can't find someone to help you, let us know and we will assist. 3. Get to know your calls! This is without a doubt something we see first time competitors struggle with the most. Know the rules and practise them in training, it will make all the difference on the platform!

03.01.2022 We wrapped up a huge week last Thursday and wanted to show you all some of the incredible results from those who took part in our 12 Week Beginners Course! 1 Ana with an easy 160kg pull. When Ana first came to TSS she wasn't able to squat or deadlift without back pain; we did a lot of bracing work and she hasn't felt anything since! She also squatted a huge 125kg! 2 Timmy with his first 200kg pull! Timmy was someone who came to us with a lot of training behind him and wan...ted some guidance on his technique. We convinced him to let us program his other gym days too and he squatted 160kg (20kg PB), benched 112.kg for a PB and went onto deadlift 205kg after this. 3 Angharad also came to us with a bit of training behind her. Her goal was to pull 100kg and she went right past that and deadlifted an incredible 110kg. 4 Ben came to us just before we hit the halfway mark in the course but made some awesome progress in a short amount of time. He smashed 170kg in his deadlift and is joining us next week to add to this again after another 12 weeks. 5 Barbara had no previous barbell experience before coming to TSS but picked it up in a really natural way. She deadlifted 95kg which is an incredible effort. We have no doubt she will be ticking off 100kg next time! Some awesome progress and moments and we can’t wait to do it all over again for the last time in 2020 next week!
