22.01.2022 Monday 30 November 2020 Rep footy inches closer as more key appointments are locked in The double header Territory representative games against Glenelg are fast approaching as new key personnel appointments are locked in ahead of 26 January 2021.... The NT Representative Football Committee met in early November to create the selection philosophy behind finding the right people for leadership and player roles. The philosophy is led by an aim to inspire young NTFL footballers to play at the highest level by selecting the best players available who are committed to the NTFL competition. The philosophy provides a guide to list emerging draftable talent who currently play for a Premier League team, while also seeking to engage Territory based AFL and AFLW players. Players must be residing in Darwin to be eligible for selection and squads must not exceed 40 players. We are excited to take another step closer to the return of rep footy in the Territory by appointing the Chairperson of Selectors for both the men’s and women’s side along with a number of other key roles, AFL Talent Manager NT Simon Hargrave said. Our best men and women will get a chance to represent the Territory at the state level for the first time in 15 years, see what the Glenelg players have to offer and hopefully bring a ripper game to our spectators. NTFL Premiership Coach and former Brisbane Lions player Shannan Rusca has been appointed Chairperson of Selectors for the men’s side and will lead the group who decides which of the Territory’s best footy players will take on the 2019 SANFL premiers. Brenton Toy, Anthony Vallejo and Ryan Ayers have been selected to form the assistant coaches panel, with head coach Chris Baksh scouting with an aim to get all clubs involved. Female Territory football icon and advocate Colleen Gwynne will take on the Chairperson of Selectors role for the women’s side, while Tarmon Elliott is finalising his coaching panel with announcements to be made shortly. Other key appointments to date include: Men’s Chairperson of selectors Shannan Rusca Head coach Chris Baksh Assistant coach (midfield) Brenton Toy Assistant coach (defensive) Anthony Vallejo Assistant coach Ryan Ayers Bench coach Jeff Harvey Bench coach Matt Cannard Coaches boards Shannon Miller Strength and conditioning coach Rob Moore Runner Jarred Illet Team manager Leit Waterbury Women’s Chairperson of selectors Colleen Gwynne Head coach Tarmon Elliott Assistant coach Colleen Gwynne Strength and conditioning coach Rob Moore Team manager Helen Braam Initial squads will be announced in early December with the highly anticipated first training session taking place on 9 December 2020. 03.01.2022 ANDY HANDY IN DEBUT FOR NIGHTCLIFF GREY MORRIS PREMIER League first gamers have a habit of making an impression in their first trip to centre stage and Nightcliff’s Andy Moniz Wakefield has joined the queue. ... The 17-year-old wingman is the Round 9 nomination for the $500 NT News Rising Star, an award that has been won by several future stars of the Territory game. Dogged by a knee injury last season after impressing in the under-18 and Division 1 grades, Moniz Wakefield has finally reached league level. His 12 possessions (seven kicks and five handballs), four marks and two tackles against the fleet-footed Tiwis stamped him as a long-term prospect at Nightcliff. Dual Tigers premiership coach Chris Baksh is a big fan of the youngster. ‘It’s no secret Andy had his disappointments last season with knee issues causing several disruptions and blocking his path to league football,’’ Baksh said. But the answer for him was to work hard at his game and eventually force his way into the league side, factors he has achieved.’’ Baksh placed Moniz Wakefield on a wing and liked what he saw. He was hard at the contests, smart with his disposal and clean with his kicking and handballing which is all you ask of a midfielder,’’ Baksh said. Copyright 2020 News Pty Limited

01.01.2022 Full-Time Men's Premier League: Nightcliff Tigers Football Club 17.13.115 defeated Tiwi Bombers Football Club 15.10.100. The third quarter saw both sides kick f...our goals each as the game settled into a steady rhythm of end to end footy. Cameron Ilett and Kyle Emery both added goals to their tally. As the tigers won the third quarter by two points. The fourth quarter was all the Bombers as they pushed to complete the most unlikely of comebacks. Tiwi kicked five goals to three and at one point trailed by less than a goal, and with no active scoreboard at the ground, the crowd and teams were both unsure of how close it really was, but the Tigers veterans stood up to the pressure and kicked the last two goals to run out 15 point winners as Cameron Ilett and Kyle Emery both kick five goals each in a 15 point win. #territoryfooty See more
