25.01.2022 Missing parkrun? We know The Terraceites are a quick bunch. Give this a try and let us know how you go! We miss you all, see you all soon.
25.01.2022 We’ve been quiet for the last few months but hopefully we’ll be seeing you all again soon. Once we have more details we’ll share it here. Happy Friday everyone.
24.01.2022 Terrace parkrunners seen out this Saturday morning keeping active. Great to see we are all keeping up our outdoor activities, we can all set PBs when we return
24.01.2022 This weekend there will be some changes to the finish funnel. As you cross the finish line our funnel manager will help sort you in order and direct you to our person handing out finish tokens. They will then direct you down one of two different finish chutes. While in these chutes we ask that you maintain social distances and at the end there will be a volunteer that will ask you to show your barcode and token for scanning. Once you have completed this, you can head home and wait for your results to come through (don't forget the rest of the family though!)
23.01.2022 While a few parkruns in the region will be returning this weekend, unfortunately The Terrace won’t be returning until January. We are working towards the 9th of January and will confirm as we get closer. See you all again soon.
20.01.2022 Another one of the changes for parkrun is that we are asking people to help us with our requirements should contract tracing be required and scan the following barcode as they arrive at parkrun. We will have a few scattered around on the day but if you can do this in the car on the morning of that would be apreaciated. Only 4 more sleeps!
18.01.2022 Lock in the date and set your alarm! The Terrace parkrun will be back on the 9th of January kicking off at 8am sharp. There will be a few changes to the way we do things due to COVID but over the next week we'll be posting here each day and letting you know so that you know what to expect when you turn up next Saturday. Don't worry, we are still free and you still need a barcode once you've completed your 5km! We would love to fill up our roster over the next few weeks so if you can help check out and let us know what you can help out with. https://www.parkrun.com.au/theterrace/futureroster/
16.01.2022 You may notice that we have a few new volunteer roles available in the roster https://www.parkrun.com.au/theterrace/futureroster/ . We thought we would fill you in as to what they are. The Event Day Course Check involves checking the entire route is safe to use on the day of the event. You just need walk or run the course and be complete by 7:30. Letting the Run Director know of any issues. This can be part of your regular warm up allowing you to then complete parkrun at your... pace with everyone else. It's the best of both worlds! The Volunteer Co-ordinator is there to help the run director ensure all the volunteers are ready to go before parkrun. This is normally briefing them as to what they need to do, handing out vests and lanyards. You can then complete parkrun at your own pace when it starts Timekeepers need to download the Virtual Volunteer app onto their own phone prior to the event and then record as the event starts and as each runner crosses the finish line. The Funnel Manager is responsible for the smooth operation of the finish funnel. It's vitally important to our recording system that participants stay in order after they cross the line, so that we keep their time in sequence with their finish token. The Finish Tokens volunteer is responsible for handing out position tokens to all participants. Barcode Scanning volunteers scan your personal barcode, followed by the barcode on the finish position token. This is also completed via the Virtual Volunteer App on their own phones. The Tail Walker stays right at the back of the field and should be the last person to cross the finish line ensuring that everyone is accounted for. They are encouraged to carry a mobile phone in case of emergencies. They let any marshal out on the course know that they can collect nearby signs and leave their post. This is our other role that gets both a run and volunteer credit. Finally, The Run Director is in charge of a particular event on a specific day. They have ultimate responsibility for deciding whether or not the conditions are suitable for the event and with advice from the other volunteers may decide to modify the course (because of new hazards, for example), delay the start, or even in exceptional circumstances cancel the event that day (very poor weather being the most common reason for this). If this (or any other role) sounds like something that interests you please reach out to us.
15.01.2022 With everything that is still going on we’ll need to wait another month at least before we can resume The Terrace parkrun. We hope that our little Terrace community are all well and that you are all keeping some form of weekly exercise going. See you all again soon.
14.01.2022 Just a reminder that this is live now. The 1st week of results are available and the 2nd week's results are building. Check out the results here https://www.parkrun.com.au/theterrace/results/notparkrun/ or view the results history here https://www.parkrun.com.au/thete/results/notparkrunhistory/
13.01.2022 Dear all, hope you have been keeping well. Gee it’s been a long time since we had our Saturday morning timed 5km run/walk and more importantly coffee and breakfast afterwards. parkrun has reopened in the Northern Territory and soon to open in Tasmania. parkrun HQ are working with state health authorities from the remaining states to determine how/when parkrun events can restart. See update. Hoping to see you back at The Terrace soon.
12.01.2022 Hi Terrace family, we are working to return on the 9th of January but we need your help! We will need to have a few more volunteers than we used to so if you can help out please email us at [email protected] and early in the New Year we will confirm your position. Thanks in advance.
06.01.2022 We love our volunteers at The Terrace who help us put the event on each week. Let's face it, volunteering at The Terrace is always fun. We are looking for a number of volunteers for this coming Saturday and the following weeks. If you've never volunteered before that's OK. We give you a run down on what you need to do.
