21.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all of my amazing clients! I have had my busiest year in 17 years. So many new pets and new clients. Lucky for me, all of my new clients have been so lovely and kind. Maybe next year I will see your face and come in the front door! Lets hope! I am taking some annual leave now, and look forward to a happier 2021

21.01.2022 So many clients have told me this month that they are feeding Dentastix for their dogs teeth..you are wasting your money!! They are too soft. Get something harder that they can safely chew for hours. Today Tommy had a choice of a cows ear, a venison ear, a goats horn and his all time favourite..a Bully Stick (dried bulls penis!)...mmmm..yum

17.01.2022 This is why I love them!

17.01.2022 'Tis the season that fledglings learn to fly At this time of year Lort Smith often has well-meaning members of public bringing in baby birds they think are in... distress. Rest assured that in almost every case, the bird is fine. Fledglings will often spend a few days on the ground learning to fly, and their parents are almost always watching from afar. Bird eyesight is much better than humans, so they may be quite far away. It's highly likely they can see you, even if you can’t see them. If you find a baby bird, the best thing to do is nothing. If they are in immediate danger e.g. in the middle of the road, then gently move them to a nearby safe place. If you are concerned then return in 2-3 hours to check on them again. Only if they appear injured should you take them to the nearest vet. It is appreciated if you hang around until the baby bird is checked and then return it to the place you found it it’s very important they are reunited with their parents. Please read up on what to do if you find an "orphan" baby bird, and how to make a new bird home in four easy steps: www.lortsmith.com//animal-health-resour/orphan-baby-birds/ #animalwellbeing #leavethebirdalone #melbournevet #birdcare

11.01.2022 What a beautie!

10.01.2022 There seems to be a puppy boom in this lock-down life. I would like to advise all potential buyers to always get an independent vet health check for any new pup purchased. A vaccination card signed by a veterinarian DOES NOT mean that the puppy has no genetic or major health problems. And a $6000 price tag gives no health guarantee also. Buyer Beware!

09.01.2022 Love this..my boy is a non lover

07.01.2022 Slightly teary

03.01.2022 I am whippet mad..but oh my <3 <3

02.01.2022 I know that I do go on about dental care, but I met a 2 year old cat today on my travels with absolutely spotless teeth! They have fed Hills T/D since he was a kitten plus some wet/raw food. The Cat Protection Society in Greensborough recommended this. Fantastic idea..prevention rather than cure..well done Cat Protection Society. :) Happy Vet today (and easily pleased)

02.01.2022 Yesterday a client told me that her 5 year old Doberman passed away from a Corncob obstruction. This prompted me to let you all know of the most common and dangerous objects that can cause obstructions (mainly in dogs). PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE!! 1. Corn Cobs 2. Wooden Skewers 3. Ice-cream sticks 4. Underwear... 5. Rocks 6. Cooked bones 7. Sanitary products I like to keep bins out of dogs reach completely..especially Labrador owners! .. and keep in mind what they might find when off lead! Take care everyone :) See more

01.01.2022 Today was a very sad day for the Dunne family. Rosies health was going down hill very quickly, and we had to say goodbye to her today. It has been a pleasure looking after you for 14 years Rosie Rose. We will all miss you dearly <3
