25.01.2022 Merry Christmas

25.01.2022 Hi everyone, Since my post yesterday, I have been inundated with people wanting bookings. I will get back to everyone but it may take longer than normal. ... Thanks for understanding! Summer

24.01.2022 Heidi Lion clip for beautiful Heidi this week! A few people have been asking why some cats get lion clips. ... Some reasons include: * Knots/matted badly * Suffers from hairballs * Overheats in the warmer months * Stops grooming due to age/health issues Does my cat have to be clipped so short? Absolutely not! I can clip all different lengths. I can also clip out any mats/knots and then do a dematt brush on them to remove excess fur. Not all medium and long haired cats need clipping. I only do them on patients that need them and I discuss this with client before booking them in. It was so nice meeting you Heidi Next week is a big week with SO many cute pets to meet Have a great weekend! Summer

19.01.2022 Luna Today I met beautiful 6 month old Luna. Luna needed a groom and has recently been fearful when it comes to grooming. She becomes stressed being in a grooming salon. ... Luna’s owners contacted me and today we did her first groom! We took it nice and slow and I managed to give her a trim and a nail trim! (Amazing what treats and Peanut butter can do!) She felt more comfortable in her own home with her mum and dad there to support her. By the end of our session she was licking my nose and was full of love and kisses. We will be doing frequent trims to get her coat shorter and to get her used to the grooming experience. Oh Luna, you’re a sweetie

19.01.2022 Dusty Sweet girl Dusty had a big grooming session today! Her coat was badly matted and I felt like I was shearing a sheep! ... This her mid groom having a break and a treat Her grooming session took a long time but she is now mat and knot free and is feeling much better!

19.01.2022 Baby Ringtail Possum Today while in clinic a baby ringtail possum was dropped off. The person found him on the footpath, with no mum in sight We did an examination and he was in perfect health and has now been collected by a Wildlife carer ... What should you do if you find wildlife that needs care? Place them in a warm and secure box and take them to any vet clinic that is open near you. Most vets will provide Wildlife care, free of charge. (Thank you vets ) Please call Wildlife Victoria: 03 8400 7300 if you need assistance. Summer

19.01.2022 World Dog Day Today Cody will get extra cuddles and kisses. Ive had Cody for nearly 15 years and hes been such a good dog ... How old is your dog and what makes them special? Would also love to see them

18.01.2022 Something I would love to do one day would be rescue seniors that need a warm bed and lots of love and attention in their final years. Have you ever adopted a senior pet or do you have senior at home?

18.01.2022 Sunbathing Cody Does your pet enjoy the sunshine too? Please make sure you apply a pet friendly sunscreen on pets with pigmented skin, they can burn easy and it can cause skin cancer. ... Comment below with your sunbathing pet pictures!

18.01.2022 Reminiscing about some wildlife patients I have nursed in the past! How cute are they! Im so proud to be a Vet Nurse

17.01.2022 Hi! Im Summer, and I have worked as a qualified veterinary nurse for 12 years in multiple clinics. I have founded The Travelling Vet Nurse to provide professional animal care services in the comfort of the pets home, while also making life more convenient for owners! ... I have seen the need for more in-home care for animals. Some pets can get scared and anxious going to the vet or going to a kennel or cattery when their owner goes away. Ive always wanted to work with animals. I grew up with a large variety of pets including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, fish, ducks, chickens and budgies. After completing both a Certificate III Companion Animal Services and Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing, I have worked as a Senior Nurse, Customer Service Manager and Nurse Manager. Ive had my 14 year old Jack Russell cross since he was 8 weeks old. I have nursed him through cruciate surgeries on both knees, cancerous lump removal, tooth extractions and more recently pancreatitis and diabetes (he now has insulin injections twice a day). I also have an 8 year old budgie named Sunny, who loves playing with her bell and sitting on our shoulder. I live in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne and look forward to helping pets and their owners in the local community. If youre looking for someone who will care and love your pet, please contact me. Summer

15.01.2022 Stick Safety The beautiful weather is setting in, and a few people have asked me if its okay for their dog to chew and play with sticks? Unfortunately it isnt recommended!... Why? * Sticks can splinter and cause intestinal issues/blockage * Sticks can break/splinter and can become lodged in the mouth or throat (I have seen this many times in clinic) * I have seen old stick splinters stuck in the gums of dogs causing infection and the dog needing surgery * Sticks can cause other injuries. When throwing a stick for your dog, it could rebound off the ground and hit the dog, causing a penetration injury to the body or throat How to reduce the risk? I understand it is hard to watch your dog all the time! * You could try removing sticks from your yard * Watch your dog while on walks * You can also try to replace sticks with other toys Summer

15.01.2022 Polly Miss Polly loves when I arrive! She knows it means treats and gets straight into my bag in a few seconds Today Polly had her nails trimmed, ears cleaned, paw pad hair clipped, brush out and a bath! ... See you next time cutie

14.01.2022 Cindy the Bichon Frise Today I picked up Cindy from Geelong and dropped her off to her new family She had the loveliest temperament and loved cuddles ... When I dropped her off, the owners said they hadnt decided on a name yet. A few minutes later she was snuggling into her new dad and I said she looks like a Cindy. The owners were a little shocked as that name was at the top of the list!! They decided then and there, that this sweet little miss was going to be Cindy Enjoy your new puppy Summer

10.01.2022 Im a mixture of 4 and 9! What are you?

10.01.2022 I am utterly shattered.... Since my post last night I got a couple of messages saying to check the hotline a couple of times to make sure my service can be done... Ive called around 8 times and Ive had 2 people say that its a grey area and that depending on who I get spot checked by, they may fine me $10,000 if they dont understand why Im providing this service.... ... I am so sad to say that I have decided to not take any welfare bookings and will need to cancel/change the bookings I have already made... I really thought I was allowed to do this as I originally got a yes from the hotline. Im thinking of all the pets who are suffering and need my service, I recommend that you take your pet to the vet (if possible!) and hope they can clip mats/nails for you. I will get back to everyone who has messaged/booked today. Summer
