22.01.2022 A few snaps capturing a beautiful morning when my friend @adamholsta from Glebe Hill Landcare guiding Howrah Primary School kids around the bushland reserve, discovering and learning from the interp flora and fauna totems I designed for the area. The design that wraps around the totem reflects the layering of bark and colours along the trail and features the most colourful hand drawings by Howrah Primary School students. ... 19.01.2022 ‘mooning in this little gem all week up the coast - cheers to the Paces and Bouds for the gift! Such a cool shack/caravan/shed!

19.01.2022 Years ago I created a logo for the Spirit People, who are importers and distributors of specialty spirits from Tasmania and around the world. It's still a favourite design of mine today and you might recognise their friendly faces serving cocktails at Street Eats Franko on a Friday evening in summer. Spirit People have recently posted an interview they did with me which has left me feeling very humbled. Feel free to have a read and find out a little more behind the scenes at The Understorey. https://spirit-people.net/blog/2018/9/9/who-is-katie-hepper

18.01.2022 Super great news for my workplace buddies at @inspiringplace_au and a little pat on the back for myself (gulp!)! On Friday night Inspiring Place received an 'Award of Excellence' for the Kakadu National Park Walking Strategy 2016 and the Kakadu National Park Track Manual 2016 for Tourism Projects in the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (Tasmania) Awards. In collaboration with Inspiring Place, I created a comprehensive and meaningful design of the manual for Parks ...Australia. An Award of Excellence is the highest honour a project can receive and only one is given in any category. It was such a great pleasure being involved in this project and huge congrats to the team at Inspiring Place for their amazing work (as always!). ... Some words from the Jury: "These two excellent critical documents for the World Heritage Kakadu National Park are a walking track strategy and a manual that show a clear, respectful and practical insight to the landscape, its inhabitants, cultural values and visitors." @ Inspiring Place

18.01.2022 I love collaborating with other design brains and bringing in my own fresh ideas and skills. Earlier this year I was invited to collaborate with the20 as part of the 'Only in Hobart' campaign. I came up with this logo design and identity, which was translated onto various web and print materials. Later this year, the bold poster design was awarded as a finalist for the Tasmanian Diemen Awards. https://diemenawards.com.au/archives/awards/only-in-hobart https://the20.com.au/projects/only-in-hobart/

18.01.2022 Love working with these ladies! A fresh new look for @teachmakecreate Look out for their amazing art and educational workshops for children 1-7 years, held in a beautiful barn in Cambridge! (But be quick to book, as their Easter one sold out in 24hrs!!) @ The Understorey

17.01.2022 Photo from Sunday’s launch of the #clarencekayaktrail at Little Howrah Beach. It was a fantastic experience working with the team at @inspiringplace_au and City of Clarence to produce a foldout booklet of maps, safety info and trail highlights that kayakers can take on their adventures out on the water Some great images to bring it to life by the talented @natalie_mendham

14.01.2022 It was an honour to donate my time to design a logo and some graphic material for little Eleanor who is battling neuroblastoma. On Saturday the families and friends of Eleanor ran a fundraising event held at the Republic Bar to help raise some much needed funds for her treatment it was a great turn out. If you didn't make it along and want to donate please jump onto their gofundme page: https://www.gofundme.com/help-eleanor-fight-neuroblastoma... My concept behind the logo/symbol: The flower is a Chocolate Lily a beautiful and rare native plant in Tasmania. The flower shoots out stars representing Eleanor’s bravery and courage as she grows stronger everyday with our support.

14.01.2022 I present to you twelve days of Christmas ...but from my primary school days.

12.01.2022 To say this past year has been big is an understatement.. Let’s just go over this.. > Rafted the Franklin River > Design contract position with Parks & Wildlife Tas... > Was a bridesmaid for my little sis > Produced a heap of work with amazing clients, old and new > Become an aunty to Ivy and Charlie > Walked the Huon Valley Mid-Winter Feast Pilgrimage to raise money for Tasmania’s homeless > Started building a new house > Design contract position with the Tas Education Dep > Began running an art program in a homeless shelter (with a bunch of legends) > Judged for the Diemen Awards > Donated many hours to help fundraisers and non-for-profit companies > Got married 2018 YOU GOT ME GOOD. Thanks to all my wonderful clients, friends, family and my husband for making this year a special one for The Understorey. As I wrap up my work for this year, I look forward to all my projects for next and the opportunities and adventures that 2019 will bring.
