23.01.2022 From the Varga VM Vault : February 2018 - "Conqueror by Lisa Cudmore". Varga Girl has always been committed to mentoring and supporting local students of fashion. Lisa Cudmore was the recipient of the Varga Girl sponsored award at @nmtgraduates 2018. ... Her graduate collection, "Conqueror", was on display at Varga Girl in February 2018. Lisas inspiration for this collection was Women in Horror Films, and the theory of women becoming their own heroines - defeating the monster and then basically wearing them as a skin. Lisa put this theory into a fashion context, and used different textile manipulations, instead of the common tropes associated with each monster. For example, Lisa used patchwork to reference Frankensteins creation being pieced together, and silk strips to mimic fur for the werewolf. Photo 1 features "Frankensteins Monster" and "Ghost". In, is my favourite fragrance from underrated French brand Miller et Bertaux. New Study Postcard is a mix of cooling citruses with grapefruit and orange being prominent, augmented with fig leaf and fig, and a creamy undercurrent of coconut milk. Theres also an element of freshly cut grass adding a further fresh hit into the mix. Not overly complex and perfectly evocative of the inspiration of a postcard sent from a Mediterranean island flourishing with orange fields, wild lemons and freshly cut herbs being sold at market stalls.
