24.01.2022 This is our final weekly Village Voice. Big changes coming, read more below or on page 2 of this week's Village Voice. https://issuu.com/villagevoice.net/docs/village20210528_web Always look on the bright side... An open letter from Rich Evans I started the article last week with a line from a Dylan song, this week, that ear worm from the Monty Python’s - Life of Brian Always look on the bright side of life. That is what we are doing in this current period as we see our hopes and dreams dashed against the rocks of reality. We are looking at the positives in what a new reinvented publication means for our business and what it may mean for the region. As I wrote about last week, we received confirmation that our current printing provider will be closing their doors for good in the coming weeks. This is not completely out of the blue for us, as we had heard rumours, however it could not come at a worse time. We were just starting to rebuild the business after surviving COVID last year and the inevitable downturn in revenue we have experienced in 2021. This will be the last weekly Village Voice and we will be relaunching in June the all new Central West Village Voice. A combination of our Lithgow and Bathurst titles into one publication. It will also be a fortnightly publication while we make this transition. In between each fortnightly publication we will be publishing with a digital first strategy and our newly developed website will have all the regions stories in one place. We will also be relaunching our podcast, creating more video content and digging deeper into interesting people, events and stories from our communities. There are far more upsides than downsides as we have worked through this decision over the last couple of weeks, and we trust everyone will see that as the new publication hits stands in the middle of June. Our hope is that we will be around to continue to support the community as we have done for many years, and this is our best opportunity to do that. What we are looking for now is support from advertisers who want to reach a much bigger audience than any other regional publication can offer, now that our footprint will hit from Blackheath to Bathurst with one publication, it is more cost effective than ever to reach the community. For more information on advertising or other ways you can support us, email [email protected]. We look forward to your feedback on the all new Central West Village Voice when it hits newsstands on 10 June.

24.01.2022 HARTLEY VALE RD OFFICIALLY OPENED The first Fixing Local Roads project to finish in our electorate is the $413,600 Hartley Vale Road upgrade. This road serves... as an arterial local road for the people of Hartley Vale, and now connects them by bitumen to Lithgow. Great to see this initiatives by the NSW government, supported by the commonwealth, come to fruition.

22.01.2022 I was very grateful to be able to be involved in this important piece of work, we managed to find a way to work through covid lockdown, socially distanced meetings and many other unforeseen challenges to produce this report, and look forward to seeing how it progresses. Rich Evans

20.01.2022 A number of local community projects and initiatives have been given a boost thanks to EnergyAustralias Community Grants Program. EnergyAustralia, owner of the Mount Piper power station, has announced the successful projects as part of the first round EnergyAustralia Community Grants program. These grants are awarded based on a projects potential to benefit the Greater Lithgow region in two key areas: education and social inclusion. The first round also included Bushfire r...elated projects after the recent bushfires that impacted the region are still being felt. 01.01.2022 OUR NEW ADVERTISER SUBSCRIPTION MODEL http://createsend.com/t/r-87D1FF36AA1F68AC2540EF23F30FEDE We understand that it is not business as usual for many small local businesses. We also understand the need to cut costs in tough times, which is exactly what we had to do ourselves.... As we come out the other side of a tumultuous 2020, we feel the time is right to look at ways we can reinvent the way we sell ads to offer our advertisers even more value. That is where our new subscription model comes in. We wanted to create a product that would be cost effective for all businesses, and help you get exposure all year round, with the bonus of bigger ads at your peak advertising times. We have a range of options to suit your budget, and from as little as $30 a week, we can ensure you hit a hyper-local audience every single week.
