24.01.2022 For those on the Northside of Brisbane, the Disability Support Centre at Keperra is a great resource in our local community! They have an independent living centre with access to low cost Assistive Technology and continence products. Because they are an NDIS registered provider, there is so much flexibility in how you can access products. The staff are also incredibly helpful. Check them out if you're ever in the area!

20.01.2022 The MS Readathon starts this Saturday. It's a great way to encourage a love of reading in children, and money raised goes to a fantastic cause. Follow the link in the post to sign up!

18.01.2022 What a whirlwind week it has been! This was our first week full-time and open for business. I met so many new faces and got to hear some wonderful and inspiring stories from amazing people and families. Thanks so much to everyone who made a referral, called to have a chat and sent encouraging emails. Your support is much appreciated. If you or someone you know is an NDIS participant looking for Support Coordination, Specialist Support Coordination or Social Work support feel free to send a message, email or phone for a chat about how we can assist.

17.01.2022 Meet Kalum! Kalum is a young man with a passion for building, following instructions and developing his independence! Kalum, with the help of his family and supporters, has started his own business putting together flat-pack furniture. He is an absolute Pro! If you're in Brisbane North or Moreton Bay and (like me) a bit of a novice with Ikea or other flat packs, flick Kalum an email and he'll be ready to help you out [email protected] Picture description: A photo of... Kalum, a young man with brown hair holding a mallet with a big smile on his face. The text reads 'Kalum is a young man with ASD and has a keen eye for building flatpacks. There is no job too small or large for Kalum and his finished product is second to none. Contact Kalum at [email protected]'. The picture has a blue background and an orange logo showing a hammer and the words Kalum's Kit Builds Flatpacks Made for You. See more

15.01.2022 This morning Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced a snap three-day lockdown for greater Brisbane after 10 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed overnight, 4 of which were community transmission. During the three-day lockdown period, The Way Forward will continue to operate as usual, with the exception of home or community visits, which will be re-scheduled or offered by Zoom. We will be in contact with all the participants we support, and their familes/carers over the coming days. Keep well and follow Queensland Health for updated advice. https://www.facebook.com/217333648374725/posts/3885368314904555/

07.01.2022 Have you heard of Disability Connect and Outreach yet? It is an initiative of the Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors helping people with their access to the NDIS! It is a free service for anyone who thinks they may be eligible for support. The Access and Referral Team (ART) can assist people to fill out NDIS forms, can liaise with specialists and doctors, and can also send forms to the NDIS. ART will help people keep track of the progress of their application until the process is finished. People can self-refer or providers and organisations can also refer people. More information and referral forms can be found here https://queenslandcommunities.engagementhub.com.au//art-re

01.01.2022 iFly Brisbane are holding a monthly All Abilities Flight night! This program has been custom designed for people with physical and cognitive challenges to create an environment of support and inclusion, while focusing on making what seems impossible, possible. You can utilise your NDIS funding for this activity, or for other activities in the community that promote inclusion. https://fb.me/e/2kXgU2bmp
