21.01.2022 Looking at the BIG PICTURE when doing large or small landscaping, includes looking at what you may need in the future. By planning ahead for the just in case is an important part of planning. Why? To supply water or power after the hard landscaping of paths and concrete structures has been completed is an expensive task and unsightly.... By simply placing in key needs of additional pipes or sleeves can allow for cost effective additions post works completed. The cost of doing it right the first time with allowances for future development is minimal. The cost for not.... Can be in the 000's
20.01.2022 Recently we had the pleasure of re-designing an irrigation system for a 3rd generation farming family. The current system was extremely old school with the thought of install a pipe and it will get water..... However, from top of paddock to bottom of paddock we identified an 11m variance in elevation. The system was also hindered by the fact that each irrigation zone had 12 pipe lengths over 250m each, pushing downhill.... The problem with this? Pressure reduction and variation over the 250m distance and 6 m elevation drop meaning that the already rich alluvial soils were being over watered with the sandy loam being under watered. SOLUTION : * Install Sub-ring main line (at a depth of 600mm) * Saddle to Manifolds (at a depth of 600mm) * Manifolds to Solenoids (camlock connections for fast release and relocating during harvest) * Zone allocation for irrigation of 0-90m, 90m-180m, 180m-270m, 270m 360m (allows accurate delivery of irrigation to areas on needs basis) * Install Solar Powered Solenoid Control Box (remote areas no 240v available) * Install water meters are pump & Sub-ring main locations (Measure pump outputs against irrigation delivery, variance will identify ring main leaks) * Install Rain Gauge for weather station controls (will adjust watering %’s and qty based on actual local weather & rainfall Overall, our Solenoid irrigation system will save them approx 128 megalitres per annum on this 21 hectare section.

05.01.2022 It’s been 12 long years since the freak accident with a stingray took Steve Irwin to the animal sanctuary in the sky. He was, and still is a legend. No matter what the animal was, or the context, this legend was so passionate about conservation and animal protection, and he made everything so relatable. He was just a guy, who loved nature, and wanted to share it with us. You’re definitely missed, Steve. Your wit and wisdom is something that’ll never be matched.
05.01.2022 The Sun and the Moon have a massive role to play in nature. We watch them rise and set daily, but how much do you watch and recognise changes in the elevation and location of these events? Summer is around the corner which brings on two events . . . The days and days of heat and no rain, followed by days and days of rain and little sunshine. Is your irrigation system working at optimal performance? Does your controller have a rain / weather sensor to reduce or increase wateri...ng times?
