19.01.2022 Willows Modified Athletics Carnivals The Willows will be running 3 fun modified Athletics Carnivals next week over 3 mornings Monday 19th October (9am- 11am)- PREP- Year 2 ... - PREP will participate in a rotational Athletics program that will be completed in the Junior playground and Junior CPA areas - Year 1&2 will be participating in the modified Athletics on the main oval Wednesday 21st October (9am- 11am)- Year 5-6 - Year 5&6 will be participating in the modified Athletics on the main oval Friday 23rd October (9am- 11am)- Year 3-4 - Year 3&4 will be participating in the modified Athletics on the main oval Students are encouraged to wear their sports house shirt on their carnival day Parents will not be able to spectate in the school grounds due to current COVID restrictions

19.01.2022 Try For Five Yesterday Prep MUR celebrated having the highest % attendance for Term 3. The students of Prep MUR were surprised by a special visit from the Cowboys - Try for 5 Ambassador, Matt Bowen. Together they played pass the footy, went for a training jog around the oval, had an ice block and Matt presented them each with a prize pack. Thank you Matt for coming and joining us for all the fun. Congratulations PYMUR! Which class from The Willows will have the highest attendance for Term 4? Every Day Counts.

19.01.2022 Matt Bowen from the Cowboys visit Matt had a lot of fun reading stories and passing the ball with students from year 1. He also spoke about leadership and answered some excellent questions from students in year 5, before taking them for some throwing with accuracy games. Thank you Matt, we had a great time.

At The Willows State School, students are encouraged to have healthy snacks for brain food during lessons, drink plenty of water, and be involved in active play and organised sports.
12.01.2022 Kindergarten 2020 We had a special visit from Mrs Murray and Mrs Rabbit from the Willows State School. They showed us a video about special places around their... school. Prep students in the video were telling us about the things they love about their school and what they have been learning about. A surprise visitor also followed the teachers to our kindergarten to visit us. (Willow the wallaby) Mrs Murray will come back to visit us again soon to read us a few stories. 08.01.2022 YEAR 7 TRANSITION DAY The Year 7 Transition Day at Kirwan High will take place on Wednesday, December 2 from 9am to 2.45pm. Year 6 students are required to asse...mble in The Quad from 8.45am. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, parents will be unable to attend and there will be staff and student leaders at the main gate at the front of the school to assist students. Year 6 students cannot attend the Kirwan High Transition Day if they have not enrolled at the school.

05.01.2022 YEAR 7 SPORTS ACADEMY TRIALS 2021 CHANGE OF DATE: Tuesday 15th September Due to the scheduling of the Kirwan Bears Queensland Final, the Sports Academy 2021 Yea...r 7 Trials have been brought forward to Tuesday 15 September. Our Sports Academy coaches are excited to be hosting trials for our 2021 year 6 into 7 students. Students will need to be at the gate on Hudson Street near the office from 3:00pm to be signed in by their parent. Unfortunately due to COVID restrictions, parents will not be allowed into the school for trials. Students will participate in trials and tests, these tests include; Beep Test, Sit and Reach, Vertical Jump, 40m Sprint, Push up and Core. Students must bring suitable training clothes, joggers and a water bottle. The trials will finish at 5:00pm at which stage students will be able to be picked up from gate on Hudson St. near the office.

04.01.2022 THE WILLOWS SENIOR CONCERT BAND Our music staff are continuing to find opportunities for our talented musicians to perform. Our Senior Concert Band recorded their entry to the Victoria Schools Music Festival Online competition this morning. Their performance was very professional and we will share the links as soon as they come out. Congratulations to them all and a huge thank you to Ruby Johnson their instrumental teacher. 03.01.2022 Every Student is a reader and writer Year 2 are currently reading the story 'Toy Boat' and creating a new event to add to the story. They have to think carefully about the orientation, complication and resolution for their event as well as how the event will fit into the existing story. We are so proud of their writing at the beginning of this unit and we can't wait to read all of those new events!

AFTER school procedures School finishes at 2.55pm Gates open at 2.55pm and we ask parents to talk with students about which gate they need to go to (Trike Track / Stop Drop and Go/ Sandstone) Prep parents are to organise collection of students from the classroom and let our teachers know these arrangements Using Stop, Drop and Go is strongly encouraged but please display your LAST NAME on your dashboard so we can call for families and make this flow quicker Accessing staff must be arranged as staff have duties, meetings and commitments after school ‘COVID normal’ health practices apply to all adults on school sites. These include: physical distancing between adults not exceeding occupant density limits for rooms (see numbers on doorways) staying home if sick safe hygiene measures - hand sanitising not congregating in groups inside or outside buildings In the event of the need for Covid tracing, parents/carers will be contacted using One School contact.
