25.01.2022 Tuesday tip time, and continuing with the most frequently asked questions from paddlers. How do I set the correct leg length is one that comes through all the time. Very simply, you want the length short enough that you have a solid connection with your heels into the foot plate, but long enough that you can rotate your hips freely in the seat.
24.01.2022 Lovely cruise out to South Head and back to kick off the week, and recover from the crazy heat of the weekend. Wishing you all a fun week of paddling adventures. Get out there
23.01.2022 Some paddling locations are just a little more spectacular than others.
22.01.2022 Container week means a whole bunch of new custom skis for paddlers. How good does this Six Elite look with dark blue and silver stripes? Welcome Vaughan to the Think Family. Watch out for this weapon around Shelly Beach and Manly.
21.01.2022 Think Kayak. World Championship winning DNA. And looking good doing it
21.01.2022 This week’s Tuesday Tip.... pedal position. Every input we put on the rudder is steering the ski, also effectively slowing it. For our skis to run smoothly, we want to be working the heels into the plate as our connection point, and not applying pressure to the pedals on each leg drive. That’s why I suggest to paddlers that they set their pedals in a neutral position, and not too far back towards them, allowing them to get that solid connection with the heels on each stroke, sending the ski forward as the power comes on.
20.01.2022 Nice little paddle around the Harbour this morning. Hope you’re all getting out on the water, staying healthy and keeping spirits up as we go into the New Year with more restrictions coming online. Big love to the paddling community
20.01.2022 Tuesday Tip.... and at the end of the day, paddling is about generating watts, and applying that energy to your craft. It’s how that energy is applied that sets paddlers apart. We ideally want all of the power generated from our body to smoothly and efficiently send our craft in the forward direction. Strong base with solid connection from the legs to form the base of our frame... Positive Posture Strong top hand Additions to this list are endless to find an efficient stroke, but these three are a starting point to reduce the amount of spilled energy in the stroke.
20.01.2022 **Paddler Health Warning** We’ve felt compelled to get tested, and the results have come back POSITIVE. The Uno is confirmed as being a ripper of a ski. Paddle it at your peril. May result in massive surf ski stoke... be prepared!!! ...
18.01.2022 What an Ace looking ski
17.01.2022 The Moon Island Classic went ahead today, with the mercury hitting over 40 degrees as the east coast is in the midst of a heatwave. Winds turned a bit west, so it was a very solid paddle from beautiful Redhead beach back down to Swansea. Shout out to the race organizers on getting this race off the ground in the current situation. It was awesome to see it so well attended. Great to catch up with a heap of familiar heads too.
15.01.2022 Saturday saw the running of the Tingira Challenge, and Sydney Harbour turned it on. Rose Bay was picture perfect, and the detailed planning by the Shark Island Paddlers group meant a well run event. Apart from being back racing, a highlight for most people was simply catching up with familiar faces we haven’t seen in many months. The stoke was high, can’t wait til we do it again ... Allan Coker
13.01.2022 Cracking morning for a group session. Everyone working hard on fitness and technique. A pleasure to be part of the paddling journey for such a lovely bunch of paddlers
13.01.2022 The holidays have kicked up some fun NE’er conditions on the east coast. Brendan Crowe was out making the most of it on his Uno over the weekend. Looks like a whole bunch of surf ski stoke on tap!
11.01.2022 Saturday was one of those dream Surfski days. 5am arrival of a new container of fresh Think Kayak Craft, and a busy morning unloading 49 skis, getting a whole bunch ready for collection by eager paddlers and dealers. 2.30pm and it was a meet up at the surf club for an absolutly roaring downwind, La Parouse back to North Bondi. Edge of the seat stuff, roaring up the coast. 6pm and if felt like a truck had hit me, but the most satisfying tired feeling! ... Thank you to everyone who supports this business. It’s a privilege to be involved in this amazing sport, to assist you with your paddling, and to bring Think products into Australia. It can’t be done without you
10.01.2022 Rollin’ into 2021. Happy New Year everyone. Thank you all for your support and custom this year, it’s been amazing. Cannot wait to rip into the new year and continue to spread the surf ski vibes far and wide.
09.01.2022 Greatest sport in the world, on the greatest skis in the world? We think so!
09.01.2022 Tuesday Tip time, and carrying on the different theme in regards to frequently asked questions..... What construction should I get is one that comes up all the time when a paddler is looking at a new ski. Our construction range is made up of three options. Performance, Elite and Ultimate. The main considerations around choosing a construction are often focused on:... Weight Performance Budget Experience Level Looking at these points, we see patterns in sales accordingly. Skis like the World Championship winning Uno Max sell almost exclusively in Ultimate construction, our lightest layup, while stable skis like the Ace are almost always in Performance. If you’re in the process of choosing the best construction option for your new craft, don’t hesitate to ask for advice on what might work best for you. We’ve got the experience to help you make the right decision.
06.01.2022 Thursday throwback.... to a few weeks ago and my little buddy Jake Walker taking on his first downwind, chasing a big Southerly across Botany Bay. It’s mind boggling where Surfski might go with kids taking on downwinds and learning the skills required to excel at such a young age. Amazing to watch the enthusiasm, skills and bravery of these guys.
04.01.2022 Hard to paddle when distracted by such beauty
03.01.2022 First morning back after the holiday, and setting up this awesome looking Six for a very excited paddler. Nice start to the week, hope you all have a good one.
02.01.2022 Frothing on my new Uno Ultimate Custom. Shout out to the boys in the factory for knocking it out of the park creating this gem. I’m in love!!
01.01.2022 Mark Sundin getting pretty excited about the latest batch of Think skis he’s collected. Shout out to Expedition Kayaks who have been a huge supporter of our brand and design philosophies. We’re buzzing to see a whole lot more skis hit the Shire.
