24.01.2022 Congratulations to Huy Nguyen, a multitalented South-West Sydney based graphic designer and member of our artist community. Huy has been nominated for 2 AGDA awards: best cover and best publication for his work at Ligature Journal. In a team of 7 recent design graduates, Huy worked on Issue 9 of the publication. Issue 9 explores the role of design in solving complex problems such as homelessness, ageing and celebrates the tremendous achievements of female and Indigenous creatives in the design industry. 23.01.2022 Let's give a warm welcome to our new team member, Afaf Haydar. (Yes, we have two lovely Afaf's in the team now, how lucky are we!) Afaf is a Community Connector and Retail Assistant at LOST IN BOOKS. She trained as a social worker in Syria where she worked for 12 years in primary schools as a school counsellor, prior to coming to Australia with her family in 2016. Afaf is motivated to strengthen human connectedness, relationships and community bonds. In addition to her B...achelor of Sociology degree (Damascus), she holds a TAFE Diploma in Community Services (Case Management). In Australia, Afaf has used her bilingual skills to assist newly arrived refugee community members in roles with SSI, NSW SLASA, Community Migrant Resource Centre and The Salvation Army. She is currently completing a Diploma in Counselling at TAFE. Welcome Afaf and thank you for joining the team!
