25.01.2022 What a big week of sport for the College. It provided a great opportunity for our students to shine or recognise areas they needed to grow. It was pleasing to see so many students smiling when coming back from sporting events win or lose. These opportunities provide the students to get out of their comfort zone (which takes courage). Congratulations to all staff and students involved! Open Girls Netball Won a 4 school tournament Open Girls Basketball missed out in the Grand... Final of the Northern Zone Netball 8 10 Girls Basketball won the Grand Final of the Northern Zone Netball in Triple Over time. Kaitlyn Klassen hitting the winning goal. 8/9 Boys Soccer matched it against Gleeson before going down 3 -2. Winning easily against Pedare 3-0. 8/9 Girls Soccer lost 3-1 to Parafield would have won easily if they didnt have a really good Goal Keeper. Open Boys Football won both their games easily. 8/9 Netball Won 2 out of 3. Open Girls Football gave it their all but went down narrowly in their 2 games. See more

23.01.2022 Students explain the new Thomas More College Learner Profile

22.01.2022 Introducing the elements of the T-Shaped Learner Profile: Learner Behaviours Students are assessed in each subject on a scale of excelling to not yet managing, based on their demonstration of each Learner Behaviour. This is calculated to give an overall indication of how students are demonstrating each Learner Behaviour across all subjects. Learner Behaviour Definitions DISCIPLINED - A Disciplined Learner can Take responsibility for all aspects of their growth as a learner.... FLEXIBLE THINKING - A Flexible Thinker can Adapt and apply their own thinking critically and creatively. COLLABORATIVE - A Collaborative Learner can Work effectively and respectfully with a range of people to achieve solutions. DRIVEN - A Driven Learner can Show initiative and courage to seek out challenge and take learning risks in striving for personal excellence. CURIOUS - A Curious Learner can Spark interest and inquiry in their own learning. CONNECTED - A Connected Learner can Connect learning within and across disciplines. 20.01.2022 Introducing the elements of the T-Shaped Learner Profile: - The T-Shaped Progress Indicator. The T-Shaped progress indicator on the Learner Profile replaces the AAA award, which previously indicated the bare minimum standard of which we expect all students to achieve. The T-Shaped Progress Indicator is instead designed with a growth mindset, and supports students in striving for excellence. The progress indicator displays a students progress towards becoming the T-Shaped... Graduate, calculated through their demonstration of the Learner Behaviours, Wellbeing Values and Connection to the College through Attendance, Punctuality and Uniform. The basic expectation at Thomas More College is that students achieve the Managing (or Bronze) level of a T-Shaped Student, while striving for either the Self Managing (Silver) or Excelling (Gold). Achieving below the Managing level suggest students will need support in one or more aspects of their schooling and we can work with them to improve. This is reflected in the T on the top left-hand corner of the Learner Profile. This will change colour to reflect the level the student is currently demonstrating. The T-Shaped Learner Profile and Report will be released electronically tomorrow!

20.01.2022 Any Year 12 students wishing to take up this opportunity could you please contact Mr Bryans for further information ASAP; closing dates for online submission is the 25th of September.

09.01.2022 Thomas More College is in need of your assistance. Every year, Yr 10 students take part in Mock Interviews as part of their Personal Learning Plan course. This involves a short interview with an adult, who historically has come from the Knights of the Southern Cross. With the Covid -19 situation this year the involvement of the Knights (as many of them are in the higher risk age bracket) is under a bit of a cloud and so we are hoping to find some new volunteers to assist us. ...The night will be occurring on 24 August (Monday Week 6) and begins at 6pm. We offer a light meal from 5pm onwards to allow volunteers to come in and grab a snack and read through the resumes of the students they will interview. Volunteers will be provided with a list of possible questions to ask during the interview and there is a short reflection to complete for each student at the end of each interview. The night normally concludes at 8:00 8:30pm. We hope that you will be able to find this small amount of time out of your busy schedule to assist our students. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by sending a message through our Social Media pages or Greg Bulling our Year 10 Coordinator, [email protected].
