21.01.2022 This is a reminder to parents that if children are sick and unable to attend their Google classroom" please hop onto Compass and mark their attendance as medical/illness, just as you would if they were unable to attend school in the traditional manner. The weather is about to turn nasty so please stay warm and toasty. If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to call the school mobile.

20.01.2022 Welcome back to school to our 3 to 6 students. We are excited to finally see you all onsite at last. Please remember to use the correct gate for entry and exits to TMPS.

19.01.2022 We cant wait to see your smiling faces

18.01.2022 Today we made the significant decision to go to Stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne and Stage 3 in regional Victoria. Its a tough call but one that had to be mad...e. Based on the advice of Victorian and national health experts, we need to go further in our efforts to drive the Coronavirus numbers down. So what does this mean for schools and early childhood? On Monday, students and staff will continue as they have been. Tuesday will be a pupil free day for schools. From Wednesday in metropolitan Melbourne all students in p-12 will learn remotely. On-site supervision will be available for students of permitted workers, vulnerable students, and in some cases, students with disabilities. From Thursday early childhood services in Melbourne will also only be open to families of defined workplaces where the child needs care and to vulnerable children. In regional Victoria all students will learn remotely although our specialist schools will remain open for students. On-site supervision will be available for all students of permitted workers, vulnerable students and any student with a disability. Early childhood services will also remain open as normal in regional Victoria. I know this is challenging for everyone but it something we simply have to do. We have no choice if we want to slow the spread of the virus. This is all about stopping around 1 million students, their families and teachers from moving around the state. For VCE students my message is clear. You will sit your exams and you will receive an ATAR by the end of the year. I know it is challenging but we will support you every step of the way. 2020 is turning out to be a year that none us could even imagine. But if we all stick together we will get through this. Thank you to our amazing principals, teachers, and school and early childhood staff who continue to do an outstanding job in circumstances that are extremely difficult. I could not be prouder of the work you do.

18.01.2022 TMPS has launched a new Online Learning Website, specifically for our school community. The site contains common links to essential sites. https://sites.google.com/education.vic./TMPS-onlinelearning ... More information will be added to the site as term 2 progresses.

18.01.2022 Wearing a face covering is a small action but it can make a big difference. And it's one of those things where the more people do it, the exponentially bigger... that difference becomes. That's why Victoria's Chief Health Officer is making it a requirement not just a recommendation. Here's how it'll work: If you live in metro Melbourne or Mitchell Shire and you need to leave home for one of the four essential reasons, you must have a covering over your mouth and nose. If you're travelling into regional Victoria for work or care reasons, that covering will need to remain on for the entire time you're there. If you live in regional Victoria, you'll need to wear a face covering if you visit metro Melbourne or Mitchell Shire and we're still recommending you wear one in your local area if you can't physically distance. There are a few exceptions. Kids under 12, those who have a professional or medical reason or if it's just not practical, like when you're out running. In our schools, that'll mean teachers don't have to wear a face covering while teaching but students attending for VCE, VCAL or for onsite supervision will. Everyone will be expected to wear one on the way to and from school. This requirement won't be enforced until 11:59pm on Wednesday 22 July to give people a chance to buy or make a covering but if you already have one, please start wearing it now. And if you don't have a mask, a scarf is better than nothing. As with everything, this shouldn't be about looking for loopholes. It's about each of us doing something small to keep everyone around us safe. If I'm wearing a covering, I'm helping to protect you. If you're wearing one, you're helping to protect me. And if we all wear one, we're all doing our bit to slow the spread.

18.01.2022 All the Staff at ThomastownMeadows, cant wait to be back, we just had to let everyone know how excited we are. See you all soon!

17.01.2022 Thank you Ms Rosa for all that you do for the TMPS community.

16.01.2022 We will be seeing scenes like this again shortly! The Premier and I have just announced a plan to return Victorian kids to the classroom. From Tuesday 26 May, a...ll Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students, specialist school students, VCE (including Year 10 VCE students) and VCAL students will return to on-site learning at school. Students in grade 3 to year 10 will continue to learn remotely until Tuesday 9 June, to give the Government and the Chief Health Officer time to monitor and evaluate the effects of the phased return of face-to-face learning. We always said we would re-evaluate our remote learning plan if the advice from the Chief Health Officer changed. Now it has and that is why we are making the announcement today. The past few weeks have been some of the toughest I have experienced in education. But I could not be prouder. I am proud of how our principals, teachers and support staff at all government, Catholic and independent schools have risen to this challenge. Completely changing the way we teach a million students has not been easy and the way they responded has been nothing short of outstanding. And I am also extremely proud of our students who have changed how they learn in very difficult circumstances. A huge thank you should also go to parents and carers who have gone above and beyond to ensure their children continue to get a great education. No doubt about it, this has been extremely hard. And it isnt over yet. The approach we have taken so far has had an impact. It has saved lives. We are all in this together. Thank you for everything each and every one of you has done to make this work.

15.01.2022 Monday brings with it a new week full of wonderful learning opportunities for all members of our school community.

14.01.2022 Welcome to Thomastown Meadows Primary School. The Foundation year is a special year of induction into formal schooling, for your child. Here at TMPS we value every childs individuality and will nurture their self-esteem so they may reach their full potential.... We strongly value home and school partnerships and acknowledge that families are a childs first teacher. Together, we can work to develop a sense of belonging in all our students and support them to become lifelong learners. Our commitment to Learning for Life begins with all newly enrolled Founation students receiving a special Learning for Life show bag. Each show bag is jam packed with educational goodies, including story book, craft materials, dotted thirds whiteboards with markers and activities that will help consolidate letter recognition and much, much more. All newly enrolled families will also receive an email with a link to online story time sessions. In each session a new story is read by Mrs Figen Mustafa, Assistant Principal at TMPS, followed by an interactive activity that families can enjoy making with their child. We would love for you to be a part of our school community. Please call or visit our website for further information regarding new Foundation enrolments for 2021. Happy Learning From all of us at TMPS

09.01.2022 The vast majority of students in Victoria are learning from home because that is the advice from our health experts. If we did not follow this advice, more than... one million children, their parents and school staff congregating at our schools has the potential to spread Coronavirus in our community. Let me be very clear, particularly to the federal government who do not run any schools, we will only transition back to face-to-face teaching for all students when that is the advice of the Victorian Chief Health Officer. Not a moment before. What we are doing in combating this pandemic is working. But the situation is very fragile. A move back too early could see a spike in cases and a need to reimpose any restrictions we may have eased. I know this is hard - for parents and carers, students and educators - flexible and remote learning is challenging, no doubt. But I could not be prouder of our principals, teachers and support staff. Exceptional, dedicated and innovative. They are doing their very best. I am seeing this first-hand as a father of three school-aged children. And I could not be prouder of Victorian parents and carers. 97% of children are learning remotely. You have heard and understood the message. Thank you. And for students where learning from home is simply not possible, our schools are open for you. We are all in this together. And it is working because at all times we have followed the advice of our health experts in Victoria. We must, and we will, continue to do that.

04.01.2022 Its going to be wet this week. Can our families please ensure that students wear coats and have umbrellas with them. Thank you.

04.01.2022 I know plenty of parents and students have questions. What will it look like, how will it work, and what are we doing to make it all go smoothly. So weve put some answers together ahead of the return to face-to-face learning.

03.01.2022 Dear parents, carers and families, Yesterday, in line with advice from the Victorian Chief Health Officer, the Victorian Government announced a return to Stage 3 Stay at Home restrictions for some Victorian postcodes in response to increased coronavirus (COVID-19) transmission in these areas. That means, if you live in these postcodes, there are only four reasons to leave home: shopping for food and supplies, care and caregiving, exercise, and study or work if you cant do ...it from home. These restrictions will be in place for a period of four weeks from midnight on 1 July to midnight 29 July. As you would be aware, our school is NOT one of these postcodes. The Chief Health Officer has advised that we, and all schools in the restricted postcodes, should continue to operate as normal from the start of Term 3, unless there is a confirmed case of a staff member or student with coronavirus (COVID-19) and our school is required to close to enable deep cleaning and contact tracing to occur. All of our staff and students are able to continue to attend, including those who live outside our postcode area. The recent increase in the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in our community is a reminder that we all must play our part and continue to slow the spread of the virus. If you, your child, or a family member develops symptoms of a fever, chills or sweats, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, loss of smell or taste, you should get tested at a coronavirus (COVID-19) testing facility and stay home. We will continue to keep you informed. The latest information about coronavirus (COVID-19) and schools is on the Department of Education and Training website: www.education.vic.gov.au//department/Pages/coronavirus.aspx. More information about coronavirus (COVID-19) is available on the Department of Health and Human Services website: www.dhhs.vic.gov.au. Thank you for your continuing support, and I look forward to welcoming all our students back at the start of Term 3. Yours sincerely, Fiona Rosa Principal See more
