25.01.2022 Was a great day to blow out the cobwebs today. Couldn’t have been more than 100 out on the snow at any one time so the minimal coverage wasn’t an issue. Zero li...nes for the lift. Big thumbs up to Thredbo for making every effort to make sure those who were there were able to make the most of it. Not to mention the 50% refund! Faith restored. Thanks Thredbo! See more

14.01.2022 With the first anniversary of last summer’s flames almost here, I am being approached by businesses big and small - from Kosciuszko, to the Sapphire Coast to th...e Snowy Valleys businesses who simply can’t insure their properties into the future. Either the cost is just too prohibitive, or insurance companies simply aren’t willing to take on the risk and offer a policy. Some residents are also struggling to find insurance again for their family home. This is is a worrying trend and has the potential to undermine the very confidence and investment needed to drive jobs and renewal. One ski resort operator I met with suggested that it might be time to bring back the Government Insurance Office to help our businesses and residents get back on track. The Bushfire Royal Commission outlined 80 recommendations to make our nation better prepared for such emergencies. Had the recommendations of the 240 previous disaster enquires been adopted the insurance sector might have more confidence in our future. Longer bushfire seasons and rising sea levels are the headlines when it comes to climate change the finer details are now being felt, the ripple effects that impact the foundations of our economy. The time for action is long overdue both in terms of natural disaster preparedness and climate action. The Morrison Government must read the signals and get to work.

13.01.2022 #ThredboResort and the #ThredboAlpineMuseum hosted a bevy of distinguished #travel #writers in the ThredboAlpineMuseum yesterday - Frank our oldest living #Aus...tralian #Olympian talked at length about competing in the alpine skiing disciplines at the 1956 Cortina Winter Olympic Games. Randy as MC gave a classic overview of the Thredbo Story - the history of Thredbo and the importance of our World Class Alpine Collection on display - Randy covered his historical background as one of the leading lights in the world of ‘Hot Dogging’ and ‘Aerials’ as well - with a long standing commitment to the village - running his photography business in Thredbo over many decades - Jerry discussed the importance of Oral History and how the 31 Oral Histories became the basis of our award winning publication ‘Thredbo:Pioneers:Legends:Community’ - their ready access via our website - as well as other key articles covering important historical aspects of Thredbo’s development - with two decades of experience during the formative years of Thredbo Ski Patrol, Jerry pointed out that George Freuden and the Thredbo Ski Patrol were instrumental in starting ASPA (Australian Ski Patrol Association) and FIPS ( Federation Internationale Patrol de Ski) - Rebel donated copies of Thredbo: 50 Years - a DVD to help inform our guests about Thredbo - and talked about its theme - in that Thredbo is Australia's premier ski resort; back in 2007 we celebrated its 50th year as a year round Alpine village - Rebel talked about Thredbo: 50 Years, a film that revisits memories of a few pioneers of the Australian snow sports industry. Some were immigrants fleeing Europe who sought the landscape of their homelands, a few were fun loving Aussies, but all were determined to make the 'Hidden Valley' their home - migrants such as Tommy Tomasi, who founded the #ThredboSkiPatrol and many others - Thredbo - a crucible and a microcosm of Australia’s rich multicultural history - L to R - Jerry Krejzar, Rowena Ryan, Ben Groundwater, Frank Prihoda, Helen Hayes, Catherine Marshall, Ian Lowe, Rob McFarland, Randy Weiman and Rebel Penfold-Russell

05.01.2022 Well done robbo.

02.01.2022 Unfortunately after much deliberation and with heavy hearts, Thredbo Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Thredbo have made the decision to cancel the 2021 B...lues Festival. This is a result of the current public health orders in relation to music festivals and mass gatherings, coupled with travel restrictions and venue capacity challenges. Ensuring the health and safety of our guests, employees and the wider community is paramount here in Thredbo and with the current restrictions on foot, we are unable to deliver the Festival to the same calibre and capacity that our loyal Blues Festival supporters know and love. The decision did not come lightly and we recognise that many of our favourite blues performers will be hard hit by this news. Rest assured, we remain committed to bringing this signature summer event back bigger and better in 2022. On the bright side, Thredbo Resort is preparing for a huge summer of hiking, biking and hopefully some live music will start to be possible as restrictions ease. We thank you for your understanding and support of the Thredbo Blues Festival.

02.01.2022 Congratulations Frank. Well deserved.
