25.01.2022 Focus on this video for 60 seconds and notice how you feel at the beginning and at the end. I felt all the feels of lying in sea water and my worries oozing away. How about you?

25.01.2022 What I love about this post more than you may ever understand that it is made up of the village of hospital staff that it can take to look after patients. Well done Dr Emma OBrien - today - you are my super star! It takes a village.

25.01.2022 Poor Karen. Send prayers.

25.01.2022 When we are covid-free - this place is def. an option for a retreat.

24.01.2022 The magnificence of nature. Drink her up :)

22.01.2022 This is a really interesting way to look at how we are processing what is happening at the moment. Where are you on this diagram?

20.01.2022 Thus is the best description of self-care Ive seen.

20.01.2022 We can either judge our emotions, telling ourselves we should be stronger, or accept them for what they are, and then allow ourselves space to recognise what we... can think and do to feel stronger. 19.01.2022 doin it now.....

15.01.2022 Time to get real. I recall once, in one of my therapy sessions, I proudly said to my psychologist that I was self-aware enough to see that I was being xyz. Thinking she would compliment me, and gently guide me on. But she didnt. She called me out on it. She said that wasnt enough. If I was aware, then I needed to act on that awareness. Thud.... Pin drop. Lesson. Growth. How about you?

11.01.2022 How much stress would this save, heh!

11.01.2022 yes to all of this.

11.01.2022 Music as therapy for me today.

07.01.2022 Coping with Covid 19 - What to do when someone sneezes on your brain. Couldnt have come up with a better term myself.

07.01.2022 Often, when Im talking to doctors about our Thriving & Ready Conferences, they tell me they learned a lot of medicine and science, but not enough people-management and self-management skills. Heres one tip from Alain de Botton the resonates with me. Perhaps for you too.

06.01.2022 Why did we choose to have our conference at an international location? Well, thats because doctors told us they wanted it international - so they could be away and truely unplug. And we chose to keep close enough that jetlag and time-zones didnt cause us problems. So Fiji it is. We may consider other options over time too - just to keep things interesting. Go to our site now to register your unplug and grow time for 2020. thrivingandready.com.au

05.01.2022 I suspect this may hit home for you too.

04.01.2022 In our busy world, we often miss what nature has to offer us. Slow down a little my friend. Take a walk outside. Breathe in the air and look at just one tiny piece of nature long enough to see something you havent seen before. I know this is easy to say, and boy, do I often ignore my own advice. But then I see things like this and it reminds me that the most important thing is to keep trying, not criticize myself.

04.01.2022 It takes both skill and determination to be 'in the moment' sometimes - but when we are - we see things like this. Nature at it's best, giving herself to us.

04.01.2022 Wow. Ive just scrolled through my LinkedIn feed and about 6 different posts were about leadership/wellbeing/self-compassion/mentoring for practitioners. Ive liked and shared them because I love what they are doing. Some people have told me Im nuts for promoting other courses that could been seen as my competition. Well - Im not wearing that. As Ive consulted doctors, academics, psychologists and trainers about leadership in healthcare - theyve all said something alon...g the lines of we are all in this together. Every bit helps. And I believe that. Maybe our conference isnt the right fit this year for you, but something else is. The end goal is the creation of leaders. And Im all for it. Heres the one Dr Columbine Mullins and I have put together because we believe every little bit helps and everyone has a slightly different slant. This is our slant. If it resonates with you - great, wed love to see you there. Thrivingandready.com.au #selfcareinhealthcare #leadershipinmedicine #thrivingandreadyfiji See more

03.01.2022 Burnout contributes to an estimated annual loss of nearly $2,000 per employee from lack of sleep alone, as one study in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine determined. Wow. Now I dont like to reduce things only to money - but geez if you added up all the employees in the health system who are burnt out then maybe itd make some people sit up and take notice. What do you think the tally would be?

02.01.2022 Plan to take time out of your schedule to learn leadership skills essential in healthcare today. Book now - then its one job ticked off already :)

02.01.2022 reposting from Dr Libby.

01.01.2022 COVID-19 and traumatised doctors Hello, my name is Dr Caroline Walker and I am an NHS psychiatrist and I specialise in doctors wellbeing. I am making a series... of videos about the emotional and psychological impact of COVID-19 on doctors. Today I want to talk about trauma, the normal human response to trauma and how we can help ourselves if we are feeling traumatised. Im currently seeing a lot of trauma symptoms in doctors, other healthcare professionals and in the wider population as a whole. Trauma is a common thing for human beings to experience. It includes anything that threatens our safety or our integrity as a person or the safety and integrity of others. With COVID-19, we are all feeling under a tremendous amount of threat directly to our lives from the virus, and more generally and indirectly, as a society. Most of us will find our traumatic feelings settle over a few weeks. For a few of us these symptoms might persist for a bit longer, they may be more severe and it may be something that we need to get support with. I suggest where doctors can get help in the video or, as always, you can get in touch at [email protected] and Ill be happy to signpost you to further support. Wishing you all the very best of luck for the coming weeks and months ahead. Remember it is normal to struggle and ok to get help!

01.01.2022 There are some days where we should simply surrender. And rest like this gorgeous one has. Its called self-care. Be ok with it.

01.01.2022 How are leadership, wellbeing and high-performance related? A doctor, lawyer and psychologist walk into a room......... This could be a joke, right? Its not. We have all three professions stepping up to the podium to talk about how they are related. These power players will show you how managing yourself and your own wellbeing in a logical and methodical way can translate into peak performance when you need it, and recovery when you need it.
