25.01.2022 In this afternoons running of the Thunderbolt Cup it’s going to be a race between the sneaky storm system against parents and caregivers all over the beaches. Will they make it to a dry pick up of small humans? Or will the storms dash their hopes and dreams away? We think the peak hour traffic crew have their fate written in the clouds.

25.01.2022 If you are still awake, this little stunner is heading over... if you have just woken up, it might be because this little stunner may have some noise in it.

23.01.2022 Last night 75 members of Terrey Hills Brigade were awarded their NSW Premiers Bushfire Emergency Citation, presented by Acting District Manager Baldo, for their work during the 2019/20 bushfire season. A cap and pin is also included with the citation. Congratulations to all our members, as well as all the teams from many agencies around NSW, Australia and the world, for their hard work and dedication during this time.

23.01.2022 Possible excitement *cough* we mean storms for the afternoon.

20.01.2022 SEVERE STORMS FOR EASTERN NSW Another day of thunderstorms is expected for communities along the NSW coast today. Severe thunderstorms are likely across ...the region from #Newcastle to the Queensland border, these will produce large to giant hail, damaging to destructive winds and heavy rainfall leading to flash loading. The tornado threat is not zero, but it is small. The greatest risk and challenge today will be from large or giant hail stones. If you live in this region, be weather aware today and follow all the warnings. For the southern half of the coast down to the Victorian border, showers and thunderstorms will continue today, some heavy leading to flash flooding. The risk of large hailstones is greatly reduced in this region. Again not zero by the chances are smaller. Over the inland thunderstorm activity this morning should persist into the afternoon, but the air is stabilising gradually through the day so the thunderstorm coverage will contract East. - Karl Lijnders Register now to receive SMS alerts when severe storms may impact you. For Emergency help, call #NSWSES on 132 500.

18.01.2022 Who is ready for a Southerly? What a weekend!

17.01.2022 It’s really important to remember that it wasn’t just the usual suspects (fire, police and ambulance) that were involved in the Black Summer Fires. As fire raced east on the south coast, there was often only one place left for evacuees to go. Meet some of the important people who were there to help them.

17.01.2022 Great result for an abandoned juvenile Kingfisher, Sydney Wildlife and one of our crews helping rescue him from a barn where he has been for some time. Thanks Georgie for sharing! Bit different to the cat up a tree call.

17.01.2022 Here comes the warm weather! The beaches are set to get their hottest days on Saturday and Sunday, before a gusty southerly change (also known as nature’s air conditioner) will charge through. Don’t forget to get your Fire Plan in place and remember to Slip. Slop. Slap. Seek. Slide.

17.01.2022 It really is anyone’s guess as to what we will get this afternoon... let’s just chalk it up as quite possible we will see some storms. #placeyourbetsplease

17.01.2022 SEVERE STORM RISK SHIFTS EAST - Bureau of Meteorology Today’s focus of thunderstorm activity shifts further north and east. 15.01.2022 The Bureau of Meteorology have advised that the weather will be unsettled for most of this week. Today will be a bit quieter weather-wise but there is the chanc...e of storms across most of NSW tomorrow. The BoM are advising that more heavy rain is expected throughout the week from the Hunter down to the Illawarra with the chance of widespread rain over Sydney. Remember: if it’s flooded, forget it! Never drive, walk or ride through floodwater. There are simple things you can do to help protect your family during a storm: https://www.ses.nsw.gov.au/disaster-tabs-header/storm/

15.01.2022 Bit of colour happening.

15.01.2022 On this day last year NSW recorded 17 concurrent Emergency Warnings. Communities in the Blue Mountains, Clarence Valley, Richmond Valley, Walcha, Armidale, Namb...ucca, Kempsey, Tenterfield, and the Mid Coast were all being impacted by fire. At 6pm 94 fires were burning across the state. While the losses on that day were significant they could have been far worse were it not for the extraordinary efforts of firefighters and community members. See more
