25.01.2022 ~ NOURISH YO’SELF ~ Smoko does not need to be boring, and also doesn’t need to be a pie and sausage roll. This bowl of wholesomeness took me 2 minutes to put together, so really there’s no excuses to nourish your body. This will leave me feeling full for longer, whilst being really good for my guts and fueling my body with a large variety of nutrients. I won’t be left feeling all blahhh in an hours time.... There are so many ways we can care for ourself; positive self-talk, exercising, surrounding ourselves with good people, eating good nutrition, meditating. Just to name a few. I love to fuel my body with good nutrition, when I eat well, I feel well. But I also love to combine this with exercising and supplementing my body with supporting vitamins.... 20.01.2022 ~ Feeling Tyred ~ The symptom of tiredness is a common indicator we aren’t functioning well, there could be many reasons behind this, but let’s focus on Circadian Rhythm. This can directly relate to the light-dark cycles of our 24hrs, and how your body flows with this. Circadian Rhythms can affect so many internal factors, such as hormone release, digestion, and eating habits, just to name a few bodily functions.... If we are out of our rhythm, a common symptom is tiredness. So a few tips to stay in rhythm. Exercise. Eat two hours before sleeping so your body has time to digest before going to bed. Aim for 8 hours sleep and rise with the sun. 18.01.2022 ~ The Cool Down ~ After a high intensity workout it is important to have a little walk around and stretch and appreciate the hard slog you just endured, or even conquered. Recovery is just as important as the training itself. It assists the body in the removal of the lactic acid build up that has occurred, which can help with reducing muscle soreness and that dreaded day 2! If you know, ya know!!... As much as we want to just lay down and not move after a hard workout, it’s important to keep the muscles moving to prevent blood pooling. The movement allows the nutrients carried in our blood to start aiding recovery in our muscles. 14.01.2022 ~ SKIN ABSORPTION ~ Did you know that your skin is the largest organ of your body! And that your face is more permeable than other broad body surfaces! What!? This means, that many of the ingredients in the products you use on your face will be absorbed into the bloodstream and transported around the body.... Using products over long time periods with nasty chemicals in them, can have side effects on the natural functioning of the body. Mostly resulting in some form of inflammation. 13.01.2022 ~ KETTLE BELLS ~ If you’ve got a kettle bell, then you’ve got a workout. They are fantastic for a functional training session, gets the heart rate up while toning. This workout was a 20-18-16-14-12-10 structure, so the number represents how many reps of each exercise, so you end up doing 6 rounds total on every exercise. Double arm swings, into singles with a clean and press, into Roman twists, chest press and then sumo squats. ... The other day I spoke about our face being a permeable surface, this is the same with our armpits. 04.01.2022 ~ FLAVOUR ENHANCER ~ What on earth is that!?!? This might send you into a flashback to chemistry class, or have you scratching your head, going wtaf... This is the chemical formula for what we would commonly know as the flavour enhancer MSG. Scientifically known as Monosodium Glutamate. The perfection combination to make your taste buds go HOLY DELICIOUSNESS... What you probably don’t know is, 1, companies will hide this on their labels as 621, and 2, MSG is designed to trick your tastebuds into sending a signal to your brain that the food you’re eating is crazy good! When in fact, it probably has very little nutritional value, and will later leave you feeling all blahhh. If MSG was good for you, why do companies feel the need to hide it from you. 02.01.2022 ~ Weight-Watching ~ I think most of us can agree that at some point we’ve done a little, or a lot, of scale watching. But here is something you should keep in mind next time you measure your success by the numbers on the scales. Muscle weighs more than fat, so when you’ve been hitting it hard with training and combining this with good nutrition to nourish your muscles with what they need, it is likely you won’t see massive changes on the scales. This can lead us to a stress r...esponse. When your body is under stress the adrenal system is working overtime. What this means, is your body is in a state of fight or flight. When your body is in this state it is in survival mode, so your body will use up its most immediate energy sources (not your fat stores!!). There are many other things going on internally when your body is under stress, and this can have long term effects on our health. All quite negative too So! Stress less and stop focusing on the scales. Take more notice of how you feel from the exercise and good nutrition, this should be telling enough of the good impact it is having on your body. 01.01.2022 ~ WHOLESOME EATING ~ A bit of a naughty but nice brekky this morning. This quick and easy recipe had the belly feeling full & happy Choc Banana Pancakes... 2 ripe bananas 1 egg 3/4 cup soy milk 2 tsp vanilla extract 2 tsp baking powder 1 tbsp coconut sugar 3 tbsp coconut flour 1/2 cup gluten free flour 1 tbsp cacao powder I used a bar mixer to blend all the ingredients, the raspberry sauce was done in the pan with a little bit of coconut sugar and fresh raspberries. Add a little bit of real maple syrup for extra sweetness and
