25.01.2022 Matthew Randall showing school student how to plant seedlings.
24.01.2022 Listening with interest to today's National Press Club address from Senator Fiona Nash, Minister for Regional Development. "Great communities have great local leadership," she said. Pleased to hear her say that government investing in regions gives community confidence and that we need a long term approach to building workforce and careers in regions. Our timber and wood fibre sector has loads of quality regional based careers potential for one.
21.01.2022 Health studies of the impact of wooden rooms and furnishings show that the presence of wood has positive physiological effects for humans. Compared to other types of materials, wood delivers healthier responses by the sympathetic (automatic) nervous system. Lower blood pressure, calmer heart rates and lower stress responses were recorded. The studies were conducted in Austria and Japan. How fascinating is that?
21.01.2022 Do your bit to have our communities understand forestry production well. Remind your local schools about the school curriculum materials ready made at www.forestlearning.com.au

20.01.2022 Looking forward to having some Young Community Ambassadors in town and joining us at the Gala Industry Dinner in Parliament House, Canberra. Have a look through our photos of Matthew Randall, Leilani Dawes and Michael Dent in their local outreach work showing school students all about forestry.
19.01.2022 Dr Brad Law, a highly regarded forest ecologist, has led research to develop a predictive model of koala populations in north east NSW - in a new report http://www.epa.nsw.gov.au//predictive-habitat-model-koala. His team's innovative use of SongMeters is a more sophisticated counting technique than scats. His new model gathers together multiple factors that affect the presence of koalas. This is a welcome advance. Such research builds deeper understanding of what impacts on the treasured koala populations within our forests - as they move across farms, 'working forests' and parklands. TimberNSW http://timbernsw.com.au//Ground-Breaking-Koala-Research-Pr and AFPA http://ausfpa.com.au//study-sheds-new-light-on-koala-distr have commented on the new report.

16.01.2022 Architect Alex Tzannes expresses what smart thinkers have realised, using wood is good for the environment: He says, the architecture of International House Sydney [designed by Tzannes] reflects a new form of beauty. Beyond shape and surface, it is deep design, renewing architectures role to serve the greater social purpose of lowering carbon emissions.

11.01.2022 Vastly higher numbers of the Leadbeater Possum have been found to be living in the magnificent Victorian ash forests, than ever expected. Radio National covered industry's request to reassess its critically endangered status. Very limited forest area is able to be rotationally harvested, under stringent regulations. The presence of so many of these little creatures is living proof that careful, attentive management practices by professional ecologists and forest scientists working within industry have excellent outcomes.

02.01.2022 Don't be fooled by the scaremongering of the NSW koala campaigners. Forestry workers in our timber communities actively protect koalas through sophisticated and careful practices.
01.01.2022 TCA continues to support the workers of Heyfield and their families and thousands of others - whose whole personal futures depend on a grown up and sensible resolution of the timber supply issue . At its heart is a sensible balance of all priorities under the 'triple bottom line'. This means a healthy environment; alongside timber harvest and regeneration activities in authorised areas; alongside healthy communities with residents able to have pride in working for their living in a truly renewable timber industry which provides materials for carbon friendly products used by us all. This is not rocket science! We have to do better than this for our Australian people.
