25.01.2022 In February this year I held a crime forum as our community saw crime in the area rise under the Palaszcsuk Labor government's soft on crime approach. In only five years our community has seen crime rates increase dramatically with North Brisbane seeing a 41% increase in break-ins, and an 84% increase in car theft! Yesterday the LNP announced that we will deliver an extra 170 police officers across Brisbane . This is in addition to establishing a dedicated task force in an ef...fort to crack down on gang crime and car-jackings. Only an LNP government will be tough on crime.
25.01.2022 And so it begins! Pre poll now open at 2B/10 Vine St Clayfield and at Unit 2/5 Navigator Place, Hendra. I am asking for your support in Clayfield so I can help get Qld working again.
23.01.2022 Another busy morning of campaigning; lots of support in the community and then on the tools to do the sign stakes. It’s less than 50 days until the election, so I’m working as hard as ever to deliver for our community and get Queensland working again!
22.01.2022 2020 has seen a whole new set of pressures and concerns thanks to Covid-19. Now more than ever it’s important to check in on your friends & colleagues as families and individuals are isolated due to restrictions. Zoe from Sugar Art by Zoe Byres has thoughtfully spent her time baking these delicious looking cookies to help start the conversation of R U OK? You can pick one up on your way past the cake shop for free at 75A Groom Street. During this difficult time, keep those... doing it tough in mind. Don’t stop with RUOK?. There’s more to the conversation. You can find out more about National R U OK? Day by clicking the link below https://www.ruok.org.au/
22.01.2022 On this day 119 years ago, the Australian National Flag was first flown over the Exhibition Building in Melbourne. Today we should celebrate the many things our flag represents and remember all of the sacrifices made under it. To find out more about the flag and it's history, click here: https://www.pmc.gov.au/government/australian-national-flag
22.01.2022 Compassion and common sense has finally prevailed! After months of persistent lobbying efforts from schools and the ICPA QLD INC - Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association Queensland Inc, boarding students are finally able to return home to their families. Read below the statement given earlier today by the CHO ... "I, Dr Jeannette Young, Chief Health Officer, have provided an exemption for primary and secondary boarding school students with a primary place of residence in either the Australian Capital and Territory (ACT) or a New South Wales (NSW) Local Government Area (LGA) with no active cases of COVID-19...."
21.01.2022 This is above politics. Please share and add your support. Post your comments too.
21.01.2022 A busy morning in Clayfield. First up visiting info booths across the electorate with Trevor Evans MP. Then with volunteers getting our signs up. All getting ready to get Qld working again!
19.01.2022 Today is International Day of Older Persons and only the LNP has a plan for seniors! The LNP will give seniors free off peak travel across the CityTrain network and continue to work on decreasing the cost of living. Only an LNP government will fight for seniors and get Queensland working again.
19.01.2022 Today is Dog in Politics Day (and yes that's a real thing ). In the lead up to the state election on October 31st, the Clayfield campaign has seen it's fair share of four legged canine supporters and constituents! I've met plenty of dogs along the way that come with some cracker stories, let me know down below what your dog does that makes you laugh
19.01.2022 For all those in the Clayfield electorate, my office at 1/729 Sandgate Rd, Clayfield is open and here to assist with any issues you may have. You can also get in touch on 07 3638 9100 or email [email protected].
18.01.2022 I have been incredibly lucky both as a son who had a wonderful Dad, and as a Dad with great kids. Dad set a loving and caring example for me, and I have tried (and I'll admit sometimes failed) to do the same. So to all the dads out there who try, who make the effort, and who do the best they can, well done and Happy Father’s Day!
17.01.2022 While we were out and about in force on Saturday, unfortunately the Clayfield electorate office is closed today & tomorrow as major maintenance is carried out. You can still contact us via phone and email. Also, great to welcome a new four-legged volunteer to the Clayfield campaign - Wilbur the teacup bulldog! #dogsofpolitics
17.01.2022 Beautiful day to be out in Clayfield. Great support and good chats with locals. We were also joined by celebrity roadsider Senator Susan McDonald! Only the LNP will get Queensland working again.
16.01.2022 I'm happy to say that this important service will be working out of Hendra Police station. Unfortunately domestic violence is still very much a scourge on our society, and I hope this continued partnership of the Brisbane Domestic Violence Service and the Queensland Police Service will go some ways in eliminating it once and for all. #enddomesticviolence
14.01.2022 The least Labor can do is follow the laws of the land. Yesterday, the Palaszczuk Government rammed through their finance bills. This rabble has got to go.
12.01.2022 On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 the cannons on the Western Front fell silent. This Remembrance Day, RSL Queensland is asking all Australians to Remember to Remember. Whether it be one minute out of your day or watching this years live streamed service, take the time to reflect on those who have sacrificed their lives in the past and those still currently serving. ... Livestream from 10:15am - https://www.facebook.com/RSLQueensland/
11.01.2022 I'm pleased to announce I've been officially declared as the Member for Clayfield! Firstly, I'd like to say thank you to the people of Clayfield for putting your trust in me for the sixth time in a row. It's an honour and a privilege to represent you in Parliament, and I'll continue to work hard to deliver for our area and hold the current Government to account. I'd also like thank everyone who worked on the Clayfield campaign. The LNP doesn't have the might of the unions or... activist groups, we rely on volunteers putting their hands up to help out. It was a mammoth effort in an election like no other, but the hard work has well and truly paid off. To all the other candidates in this election, thank you for your participation. It was heartening to see that on the whole, the campaign was fought in good spirits on all sides. Standing for public office isn't easy, and I wish you all the best for the future. For those in the Clayfield electorate, please contact me with any State issues you may have and I will do my best to help. You can drop into my office at 1/729 Sandgate Rd, Clayfield, call the office on 3638 9100 or email [email protected]
11.01.2022 Cr Andrew Wines and I had a successful morning having a chat with the local community including Principal Matt Beacroft of St Mary of the Cross School, Windsor. At Newmarket Road, I also caught up with Mannu Kala from Medlab Pathology. Medlab is busy doing COVID-19 testing here in Windsor and in Nundah.
07.01.2022 People in my electorate know how busy Lutwyche/Gympie Rd is, both at peak hour and in general. They also know that it has been completely forgotten by this Labor Government. The LNP will invest $20m to improve this road to: Synchronised traffic lights... Upgrading intersections, including increasing turning lanes Possibly removing traffic lights, and upgrading pedestrian safety Only the LNP will bust congestion and get Queensland working again.
07.01.2022 I try and pop next door to Greens and Grains a few times a week to support local business and get some great coffee! COVID-19 has been particularly hard on small business, and often the young people employed there. So today on International Coffee Day, make sure to stop by your local coffee shop and say thank you!
07.01.2022 National Road Safety Week 2020 (15 22 November) honours the memory of the 1,200 lives lost, and more than 39,000 seriously injured on Australia’s roads each year. In an effort to change these statistics, there is plenty you can do. Take a moment to chat with your family about safe driving and reinforce the need to look both ways before crossing to your kids. Take the online pledge at www.roadsafetyweek.com.au to drive so that you and others survive.
07.01.2022 Today I joined Deb Frecklington MP, LNP candidate for Aspley - Amanda Cooper and Ed Sangjitphun - LNP for Stafford to announce the LNP's $20 million plan to bust congestion on Lutwyche and Gympie Road. Our plan aims to cut travel time by 5 minutes and increase the average speed for motorists by 20km/hour in peak times by: - Synchronising traffic lights... - Intersection Upgrades, including increased turning lanes - Traffic light removal and pedestrian safety upgrades This means local families will be able to do the school pick up quicker and get to work and home faster.
06.01.2022 Very happy to be part of David Crisafulli MP's Shadow Cabinet as the Shadow Attorney-General and Shadow Minister for Justice. We're committed to working hard over the next four years to earn the trust of Queenslanders and show them our vision for government.
05.01.2022 If you’re in the Windsor area tomorrow morning please stop by for a chat with me and Cr Andrew Wines.
05.01.2022 So today at pre poll a local constituent dropped me off these fillets of fresh red throat emperor caught off Gladstone less than 12 hours earlier. Love Qld fresh. Best prepoll day so farThanks Bill.
03.01.2022 27 years married, 3 kids, 8 elections, countless functions, and more nights away than I can remember and still putting on a bad fitting t-shirt and campaigning for me! Words are just not enough Mary
03.01.2022 Today the Prime Minister pleaded for compassion for a grieving daughter. Annastacia Palaszczuk ignored the plea. This is heartbreaking. It didn’t have to be this way.
03.01.2022 Last weekend of campaigning before the big day, and for the first time Saturday pre-polling from 9am-5pm. If you haven't voted yet, you can get in and out pretty quickly at either 2B/10 Vine St, Clayfield or 2/5 Navigator Place, Hendra. Only one more week to change the government and get Queensland working again! Also a big thanks to Jeremy for coming to pre-poll again to help out the old man
02.01.2022 Back on the hustings for the home stretch. Speaking of stretch, today Duncan Nicholls helped out for 4 hours. Full family campaign this year!
02.01.2022 An LNP Government will make Queensland the recycling state and create more local jobs! Instead of putting waste into the ground, the LNP will put it into our roads which has been trialled successfully. One kilometre of road can make use of 500,000 plastic bags and 150,000 beer bottles, which could otherwise end up in landfill or the ocean.... We’ll also establish recycling centres of excellence at Queensland universities and fast-track planning approvals for new and better recycling infrastructure. Becoming the Recycling State will create new jobs and protect Queensland’s incredible environment.
02.01.2022 I know a lot of people in our community have had issues with stolen number plates recently, which is why the local police are offering anti-theft screws for your vehicle. If you'd like some you can register your interest here: http://bit.ly/SafePl8
02.01.2022 This is a great cause close to my heart. In 2012 as Treasurer I signed off on the gift of surplus government land to Youngcare Australia to build modern accessible housing for young people in Wooloowin. Stage one opened in 2015 and is home for four young adults. I was so happy to be a special guest at the opening of stage 2 which will soon be home to another six young people with a disability. But more needs to be done!... Today is Giving Day! Any donation you make today will be doubled by sponsors. Help make a life changing impact for young Australians living with high care disabilities. Donate at: charidy.com/youngcare
01.01.2022 Our Police serve our community faithfully, bravely, and with distinction. They are often called upon to put their lives in danger. Today we remember those officers who lost their lives while serving. Today police, their families and community members will pause at 10am to pay tribute to those who have fallen. In Brisbane, this day is usually marked by a march through the CBD, followed by a service.... This year things will be a little different. Unfortunately, there will be no march or public service. The Queensland Police Service instead invites you to remember alongside them by joining in the viewing of a live streamed service below. facebook.com/QueenslandPolice/posts/10158955828073254
